  1. That's livin Simon! Thanks for posting this, it sure helped to raise my spirits! "Just gotta get it past the Pike"... made me LOL HH
  2. My wife and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this month. We are headed to the Caribbean for a week and our hotel room comes with a butler! I'm not one to have others do things for me, so this will be a completely new experience for myself and my wife. Anyone ever had a butler before and what should I expect and or ask them to do for me? thanks, HH
  3. I still have my OFC toque I picked up from TJ at the fishing show at the International Centre back when Christ was a carpenter. HH
  4. I didn't recognize him by name, but I sure remember his avatar and reports. I hope this ends well. HH
  5. I have deer that visit my backyard from time to time and I can say that a 6 foot fence is not going to slow them down on bit. HH
  6. Update... he can hear the transducer pinging in the driveway. The main unit seems to be running rather warm, it's warm to the touch. He did contact the folks in Woodstock, Angling Specialties and it looks like a new unit is in order. Thanks to all who chimed in. HH
  7. https://www.sail.ca/en/shimano-canne-a-peche-a-la-traine-tdr-8-pi-downrigger-m-2-pcs-163651 I would suggest this rod. They can be found at BPS on sale for under $30.00 from time to time. I wouldn't cheap out on the reel though... a line counter reel is best and many like the Okuma... HH
  8. Thanks Brian! HH
  9. Thanks guys! That was my feeling as well, but I sure appreciate you guys chiming in! HH
  10. Hey folks! I am asking this question on behalf of my brother. He has a fishfinder' that has GPS, temp and speed. I think it's a lowrance. Recently, it is not marking bottom, but all other functions work as they are supposed to. The transducer was checked for proper location, tilt and connections, all looks right. The unit is fairly old. Would it be a reasonable idea to simply change out the transducer? Is this the likely culprit? Ideally, he does not want to buy an entirely new unit. Any advice appreciated! HH
  11. I was in BC last week. I can't help with this fishing, but I will suggest that you invest in some sort of smoke repellent/face mask as the fires are out of control and everywhere! We could smell smoke on Vancouver Island all week long. I understand that it is even worse now than when I was there. HH
  12. Thanks for trying Brian! I hope you liked the tune? HH
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7ngGOlna0A&start_radio=1&list=RDK7ngGOlna0A Can't get it to open up in a window!!!! They sound like AC/DC to me! HH
  14. Just bumping this to the top as the fires are still going and they are getting closer to the highway according to the latest news I have heard. Anyone with updates are welcome to chime in. HH
  15. Congrats Terry! Lake Simcoe is going to be taking a beating! It also means that you have more time to fix stuff! LOL Congrats! HH
  16. Not to hijack this thread, but I have a Honda lawn mower that is closer to 30 years old, than it is 25. The silly thing doesn't know any better than to run! The Aluminum deck has over time developed a number of weak spots/holes. Duct tape applied three years ago is still holding well and almost matches the deck colour! I was kinda tongue and cheek in my answer, but there is still some validity to it! HH
  17. Duct tape!!!!! You're welcome!!!! HH
  18. Find 60ft of water and start trolling! There plenty of fish and they are easily caught. Just be careful out there as that lake can turn into a washing machine in no time! HH
  19. As most of us are aware, central Ontario is under siege of fire, with folks being evacuated from their homes from Parry Sound to Sudbury. I thought it might be a good idea to keep a thread open on this topic as many of us are intending to head in that direction in the coming weeks. Any insight that can passed along from folks local to the scene or those who have traveled in the area, I think would be useful to us all. Not going to worry at this time about who is or isn't responsible, more interested in how this affecting both locals and those visiting the areas. Here's a link to the governments web site with up to date info. https://www.ontario.ca/page/forest-fires HH
  20. And that there is the crux of the issue. I have been in a rage about this all day. I know that area well (The Danforth). My words are not allowed here, understandably. HH
  21. Find 60ft of water and start trolling! Allege has not affected the fishing as of yet. HH
  22. Nicely done Brian! Although admittedly, I am beginning to wonder if you might need a friend and you are talking to yourself out there!!!LOL HH
  23. I spotted this on the TV last night... seems like a great way to get the kids into baseball and fishing!!!! HH
  24. There's a special place in H E Double Hockey Sticks for thieves! I hope the items are recovered and the offenders hit hard by the law... HH
