Ok, here's what you can do... make sure the outlaws are in the room, turn on your lap top or computer and have this running on the screen.... http://boortz.com/mp3/archive/countdown.swf That should send them home fairly quickly!!!! HH

Nice pics and great colours on the Eye! Thanks for the report! HH

I took the "Browns the the Superbowl" this morning... does that count? Sorry for that, I couldn't help myself! Not a football fan, too boring, not enough action and far too much hype! Heck, we can't even watch the best commercials here in Canada, as Global is carrying it here and they are running their own program! HH

A good alternative to maggots is Berkley Powerbait, power wigglers, micros. They will last the whole day and you don't have to keep them in your mouth to stop them from freezing! HH

Congrats Kirk and family! HH

Who Left Good Jobs To Start Own Business?(NF)
Headhunter replied to express168's topic in General Discussion
My best advice to you would be as follows; -talk to people who have been there and done that... Cliff would be an excellent resource -save your money, ensuring that you have atleast 6 months worth of funds available to you, should there be a dry period with receivables -take some courses, accounting comes to mind... your not going to have challenges in the day to day work, your experience will guide you, but if you have limited experience with accounting and watching your receivables, they will cause you the most stress. -consider setting up an Incorporation rather than a Sole Proprietorship... you will have less personal liability and a lower tax rate -WATCH YOR RECEIVABLES! This is the number one reason new companies fail! HH -
BigCliff, I don't know you personally, nor have we ever met. I have read many of your posts and also seen many here describe you over the last few years. In their posts, they've described you as a stand up guy, who does the right thing for others and is considerate of others as well. Those are all characteristics of the type of individual, employers are always seeking. They can easily find people, like the one who just took your knees out; they will have a difficult time finding a character person like yourself. As a professional in the employment business, I know what companies look for in individuals, specific skill sets aside. I know that you are feeling hurt by the situation, but that hurt will fade with the support of your family and your friends here at OFC. What ever you do, don't bring the bad bagage this situation has created, to your next interview or job. I've seen these things happen many times and those who play the game, tend to get theirs back, usually many time worse. Best of luck in the job search, and if I can be of any assisstance, please let me know! HH

I should have mentioned that when I'm perchin, I'm a run and gun kinda guy. Draggin minnows and all that they entail, around with me is just way too much work, not to mention the cold hands, freezing bait bucket etc... . ALso, feeding perch minnows simply gets on my nerves after a while. Sitting and waiting for a school to come to me, is something I wouldn't do in open water, why would I do it on ice? It's been my experience, that if the perch are there, they'll hit an artificial. Obviously, if they aren't they won't. That's why I ususally keep moving and drilling. Once a hole goes dry, I either drill a new one, or back track to my earlier holes, in case the school has moved there. A hole only get's about 30 seconds of my time, if it's not producing. HH

In reading a number of the threads about perchin on Simcoe, I've noticed that many folks use live bait, specifically minnows. I've hardly ever used live bait, including minnows when I do get a chance to get out. Given the challenges we are now facing with minnows (buffer zone) and the price they are asking for minnows, I'm just wondering if anyone is considering going completely artificial this year? I've found that a jiggin Rap, tipped with power maggots/grubs works as well or better than minnows on most days, not to mention the PITA it can be transporting, re-hooking etc... that minnows can be. Any thoughts? HH

The day before the fall Quinte get together, I started to come down with a cold/flu. With the advice supplied by FishnSled, I abroke out my wallet and bought a bottle of COLD FX! With nothing to lose, but a fishin trip I'd been anticipating for months, I read the instructions and followed them to a tee... It worked! Yes, I lost my voice, to the overwelling joy of my boat mates FishnSLed and Terry, but I did not feel sick and after a few days, I was 100% again! It's expensive, but it works! HH

Well after removing all the sharp objects in pockets and having finished the required puckering up and kissing my ___ goodbye... I'd probably do as mentioned and look for any points extending into the lake/river and begin drilling there and work my way deeper. HH

In a thread a week or so ago, we discussed how Winners had been hacked... well I just read that Club Monaco has reportly been hacked as well. Just a heads up for any who like to shop for every day things and pay a whole lot for them! Not my cup of tea, but ... thought I'd pass it along! Can you immagine the up roar if BPS got hacked... now that's something that would hit home!!! HH

The Spit has been frozen over for a couple of days now... I suspect the recent cold snap will have added more to it. Sorry can't say how much is there, but definately been atleast four days of ice. HH

I worked at the St Thomas assembly plant (FORD) for two summers, way back in the early 80's. As a summer student, who was very money hungry, I would accept any overtime offered. On average, I was TAKING HOME $600.00 per week! Not complaining at all, but that moeny had to come from somewhere. Talking to some folks I know who have worked there for the better part of twenty years... husband and wife who work opposite shifts, their combined income annually is closing in on $200,000.00!!!! Am I missing something? My current job has me working with I.T. professionals, most of which have many years of post secondary education under their belts. They work hard to maintain their skills, either paid by their employer or by them selves. They don't make that kind of money... many not even close! I know the level of skills it takes to work a line. The unions have created monsters! Add the pesnsions to that and it's not a wonder the big 3 are suffering. When I worked at Ford, the motto was "Quantity is job one! HH

From my vantage point high above the big smoke, it sure looks like Toronto Harbour has frozen over!!! Yesterday, I could see the bays around the islands had frozen up, but was suprised this morning. It looks like the whole harbour, as much as I can see, has hardened up! HH

Drive around Scarborough and look for a house to buy!!!! That's the plan this winter, atleast until I find one, then I begin the long and arduous task of getting my current home up to snuff, for sale! HH

I saw the Heaven and Hell tour in Detroit back in the 80's. Great show, a must for any fan. HH

Alternative Therapy - Accupuncture - NF
Headhunter replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
If your considering Accupuncture, just be sure that the practitioner is viable! What I mean by this is as follows; be sure they are using BRAND NEW NEEDLES and not re-using old ones use a reputable practitioner, preferrably one that is attached to a larger clinic. You can pick up some really nasty stuff form a fly by nighter! HH -
anyone built their own sled for ice fishing?
Headhunter replied to BFSC Kevin's topic in General Discussion
Just to add; -try using Kid's ski's, they are shorter and usually wider and you won't have to cut them. -if your making a box with a lid, try cutting some holes in the lid and covering them with a wire grate. This will allow you to put a heater in the box, the heater will breathe and give you a nice warm tush while fishin. HH -
Well right now on my MP3 player I have; Tool Van Halen Offspring Cheap Trick Boston the Tubes Green Day Teenage Head Collective Soul Nazareth Most over rated band by far...U2! You could also count in this catagory; The Hip, Coldplay Most under-rated band ... Stompin Tom Connors! HH

See if you can find an old pair of down hill skis somewhere. Attach them to the bottom of your sled platform and you should be good to go. HH -
Wear stretchy pants to the buffet! Hope you enjoy your cruise... do you need any help with your bags? HH

Speaking of Music - Anyone going to see Billy Talent?
Headhunter replied to Joey's topic in General Discussion
Was fortunate enough to attend a Black Sabbath show in Detroit, back in the early 80's. Joe Louis arena, Heaven and Hell tour, Dio on vocals and Blue Oyster Cult opening the show. Dio stopped the show after 3 songs because the first 10 rows on the floor were a all out brawl! Told the audience that if they didn't stop fighting, the band would not play another note! Dio is ten times the singer Ozzy is... but Ozzy is Ozzy! Neon Nights - best song by this group of Sabbath's! HH -
Exactly my thinking Big Chev4x4! Admittedly, we are disappointed, however, I learned a ton from the experience and know that we will find the right house for us, in due time. HH
