  1. It was the 80's and I was playing in a "touring band". By touring, I mean playing some of the stickiest floored establishments from Windsor to New Liskeard. We were playing in Barrie, right downtown during their annual street party. The hotel provides the band with "accommodations" while playing there. We load our personal items into the room, only to discover the following... -light switch for the room is a coat hanger, hanging off of two bare wires in the switch box -there is graffiti covering every square inch of every wall in the place. we spent hours reading and laughing -there is no shower, only a massive bath tub. Written in black marker on the inside of the tub, a picture of a cockroach and a note saying "go ahead, get in"! -We quickly discovered that it was best to leave the lights on, all the time! We turned them off once, the walls and floor began to move! We also made sure that all of our bags we sealed shut as best they could because we didn't want to bring home any uninvited guests -we were required to play a Saturday afternoon matinee. up on stage, doing my thing and I look to my left, at the bar and the entire top of the bar is moving! La cooka racha are racing up and down the bar. -Barrie was celebrating some kind of street party as mentioned, down town street is completely closed off. Now remember, we are a rock band and as such, we didn't usually hit the hay until sunrise, too jacked up from playing. At 9:00am sharp, this massive pipe organ on a flat bed truck starts playing. It's right outside of our window and shaking the entire building. I have grown to hate pipe organs! -back the Saturday matinee... locals we encouraged to come up and play a tune with the band, we were happy to do it. A guy shows up with his guitar, we greet him enthusiastically asking him what song he wants to play... I kid you not, this is how the conversation went. Local - "do you guys know "slow moving Walter, that fire engine guy?" (DEAD serious) Band- looking at each other thoroughly confused... "no, we don't know that song" "Can you maybe sing some of it for us?" Local - starts humming the following "Bah bah bah, bah bah babha, bah ba ba, bah bah. (Smoke on the water) Dude thought that Smoke on the Water, Deep Purple was "Slow moving Walter, that fire engine guy". There are more, but this is the one that I'll never forget! HH
  2. I've been out the last two weekends so no fishin for me this weekend! I don't want to come home to hot tongue and cold shoulder for dinner! HH
  3. i love fishing for perch, be it on the ice or from a boat. The fact they they are generally willing and able partners, is really appealing to me. That said, when ever a perch report comes up, I take notice. @misfish showed us pic of his 15+inch perch the other day and there was another poster who mentioned a 17+inch perch caught outta Simcoe. Myself, I managed a 13+inch perch a couple of weeks ago and it got me thinkin how long before we see a 20inch perch pulled outta Simcoe? With the vast amount of food available to them, i have to wonder how much longer before we break the 20inch barrier and what do we think that will mean for the perch fishery on Simoce? HH
  4. You're putting on a clinic Simon!!! I'll take day two action any day of the year!!! Thanks for sharing... HH
  5. Buddy measured it for me... 13.5 inches. So you will Brian, but it's still a PB for me! HH
  6. I'm working on getting a pic of mine. As I didn't get enough for a family feed, I dropped what I had at a friend's place. He can't ice fish due to medical issues, so he was quite happy to get a feed for himself. Hoping to get a pic from him soon. Funny, I can't stop thinking about that perch! Definitely a P\B for me.... HH
  7. Nice feed Brian! I was on Cook's yesterday. It was pretty slow all morning.I did manage to get one bruiser pushing 15 inches. Pretty sure it was a male, based on it's body shape. Sitting on the ice, almost looked like a Peacock Bass it was so big! Would have been nice to get a few more of them and yes, blowing up the bottom, bouncing your bait was the ticket to getting them interested. Still, a great day to be out with good temps and some sun! HH
  8. My dad used his 72 Grand Marquis to pull our 14 ft fiberglass runabout. Darn thing was so big as kids, we weren't sure which was the boat! HH
  9. It's my understanding that folks are parking on the ice off of Keswick. Why pay or worry? HH
  10. Thinker boxing here... it looks to me like the front end of Sally is lower than the back. I have to wonder if being like that will be driving the front end into the snow? Have you at all considered raising the front end to balance out the body. Again, not experienced, just thinker boxing.... she sure does look great though! HH
  11. Wow, a blast from the past! Nice to see you here again! HH
  12. If you are over the age of 40 and looking for a way to pass the long winter, I highly recommend this Netflix show called "The Kominsky Method". It's funny, really funny... stars Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin. Arkin is probably the best character I have seen in a long time, unique and really smart. HH
  13. I've told this story before, but it's been awhile so... Fished Quinte a ton back in the 90's, mostly from November until ice up. We arrived early, in the dark and proceeded to the launch in Picton. Temps were somewhere south of minus 10C. Back the boat down the launch, me holding the rope. Trailer is all the way in the water, but the boat looks wrong in the water. The trailer is frozen to the boat! Just hanging there. the thinking at the time, let's just let it come off in the water. Fifteen minutes later, no luck. We pull the boat out, still on the trailer and make a run to the power-wash car wash in Picton, and hit the bunks with the hot water, race back to the launch and the boat floats off the bunks. HH
  14. https://globalnews.ca/video/6438754/woman-leaves-car-window-open-in-newfoundland-blizzard This made me LOL! HH
  15. Their induction into the RnR Hall of fame is still an emotionally charged moment for me, even after having watched it numerous times. Such an amazing response from the crowd. HH
  16. That last pic sure looks familiar! LOL HH
  17. I still have my toque from the fishing show at the International Centre somewhere around 13ish years ago? HH
  18. https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/22/entertainment/terry-jones-dies-scli-gbr-intl/index.html So sad to yet again, lose one who has entertained for so long. The guy had talent and was such an influence throughout my life. My sense of humour is directly related to being a fan of the troop. He will be missed. HH
  19. Glad to see you back Roy! HH
  20. What, you don't like peaches? HH
  21. It would look better with some peaches one the side... im-peached so to speak! HH
  22. Apparently Muzzin skated on his own today, so maybe just a couple of weeks out? Re late night's game.... lucky they were playing Jersey, don't think they would have won if they were playing a good team. Leaf's need a goalie! BAD! HH
  23. Reilly out 2 months, Leafs recall Sandin. Fishheadjoe
