  1. I was at one of my suppliers when one of their employees approached me and asked if I had fishing rods stolen. I replied yes in deed I have. Well  this guy found some rods near his house last October and reported it to the police. I got his name and phone number and went to the police station. At first, with me being me, demanding they go through their recovered property and see if they have my rods. Emails went back and forth to the point they said the items I was looking for were not recovered and it must have been mistaken.

Well, a week goes by, low and behold, I receive another email from the stolen property recovery stating they in fact DO HAVE MY RODS.  With the description and photos submitted, it was without a doubt, my property the email said.

I go to the station and was quickly reunited with my fishing rods! Everything in tact, only, my IMX tip top guide is missing the SIC insert.

The police had them in their possession 4 days after reported stolen! 😳

Bottom line.... I'M HAPPY TO HAVE MY HIGH END RODS BACK!

    CHEERS...

  2. This is no longer run by the MNRF. This has been organized by volunteers for the past several years. Permits are issued by the MNRF and the local Conservation Authority.  There is still a biologists on site to ensure proper handling of fish with minimal scientific data collected (Spieces and sex identification only).

So, saying that, volunteers are welcome to attend. Starting time for volunteers will commence at 8:30am. A sign in sheet is required to be covered on the insurance policy.

    Hope to you there!

    Cheers, Ron....

  4. By all means Bill, thanks!

Yes, I have contacted my insurance company.  The claim goes through your home policy. I have replacement value, however, you end up having a claim against you and your rates automatically go up a certain percentage so they recoup their loss  over time, you end up paying for the loss regardless.

I can buy a new reel, (2 yr waiting list).

I have been fortunate to track down one blank, they haven't made them for 35 yrs and still considered the best on the market. Spiel has graciously agreed to build it for me. The downfall, it's just not the same rod I grew to enjoy for 30 plus years.

The other 2 rods (Fenwick Elite 8'6" med heavy) are no longer available. Again, the 2 stolen Shimano Stradic CI4 HG 3000 are no longer available.

So yes, it is a substantial loss.

  5. Cobourg.

Whoever stole these, wasn't targeted. With construction advertising on the side of my truck. They were hoping to get an easy score. I'm sure if I had my tools in there along with my rods, the Dewalt tools would have been gone instead.

I'm not on the internet much anymore. I don't do Faceplant Twitter or any of the other sites. So if anyone sees this stuff on a buy and sell, please please let me know.

    Cheers...

  6. I recently went to Superior North on a fishing trip. It was a great trip until I got home late Monday night. Between the hours of 6am and 8am, some person stole 3 fishing rods out of the back of my truck in my own driveway.

1 outfit was my pride and joy, a vintage G LOOMIS 1562 IMX 13' made in Canada float rod custom rebuilt by our very own Spiel. Along with this rod was my 5" Rainmaker reel20161126_135938.jpg.54843af99e9b908bc1117ee915416b6d.jpg built by Canada Fishing Reels.

The other 2 rod and reel combos were my 8'6" Fenwick Eagle Elite med heavy both paired with Shimano Stradic CI4+ C3000HG.

A generous reward will be given upon the safe return.

Busy morning in the misfish,s hell  kitchen .

Started at 6 am and got the home made molasses beans put together and into the oven for 6 hours.  Soaked the beans over night, boiled for 1 hr .  Get everything in the bowl, into the oven .While that was getting all hot and happy ,I started on the Newfie bull beef cakes . Fried them up so they were done and ready for dinner .

Pulled the beans, and well, they be sweet molasses baked beans with lots of bacon in it .

The beans are good. Next time make em up on the smoker if you can. I do mine up on the pellet grill. They get a real nice smokey taste to boot.

  8. CHICKEN FRIED RICE.

Sure, sounds simple, but this is my favorite concoction.

4 chicken thighs, bone in skin on.

    6 slices cooked bacon diced.

    4 large eggs whisked.

    Peanut oil

    2 or 3 carrots diced.

    1 celery stock diced.

    1 medium onion diced

    4 cloves garlic fine diced.

    1 cup frozen peas thawed.

    1/4 cup frozen corn thawed.

4 cups rice cooked the night before.

    Low sodium soy sauce.

    Oyster sauce.

    Roasted sesame oil.

    Hoisin sauce.

    Green onion.

In a medium high heated dry wok, add thighs and cook covered until tender. Remove from wok and set aside to cool.

Heat over med high, a Tbls peanut oil in wok. Add eggs and scramble. Remove from pan and reserve with cooked bacon.

Heat more oil and add carrots celery onion and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook a bit more (1 or 2 minutes).

Dice meat from thighs as the above and below are happening and set aside. Discard bone and skin.

Add cold rice and peas. Cook and stir occasionally until rice softens.

Add chicken eggs and bacon back into pan.

Stir in 1 or 2 Tbls SOY SAUCE.

    1 Tbls Oyster Sauce

    2 tsp sesame oil.

    1 tsp Hoisin sauce.

Garnish with green onion and serve.

With this I make Beef and Broccoli, Sesame Chicken and a Lo Mein.
