  1. I did my floor a couple years back and marine ply was not worth the cost. At Robert Bury lumber they have plywood made for billboards that’s made of fir at about $60 a sheet. I know a guy that worked for the highways department who said guys would use it for floors in their boats after it was used for a billboard for ten years or so and it was still plenty strong enough. Anyway, I went this route and it was much cheaper and has not disappointed in any manner. I did cover it in vinyl as well. The vinyl cost me about $200 bucks for my 18’ boat. It was money well spent for sure. Just my opinion, Good luck with the job! Keep your hooks sharp!
  2. My 1976 Springbok 18' aluminum bowrider still floats, and I am absolutely in love with it. Good luck with the purchase! Keep your hooks sharp!
  3. Dan, I used to pull my 18' aluminum bowrider with my minivan and yes it can be done, but not safely or efficiently. If you are putting it in the water in the spring and taking it out in the fall then you could manage. However, if you fish (and trailer the boat a lot) by the time you start to see any issues it will be too late. I now have a 6cylinder 4.0L 4x4 and it does not have to work as hard and is awesome at the launch regardless of how shady the conditions are. Keep your hooks sharp!
  4. We used chunks of Mackerel from the fish section at your local grocery store for channel cats and had some good success. We also chummed with Liver pellets that they use for koi ponds or fish farms, which I believe helped bring them in. 20 lb braid with a .5 to 1oz egg sinker (depending on current) and a flouro leader 12-16lb. I believe we used a circle hook between sizes 4-8 What cats lack in looks they make up for in flavour! Good luck! keep your hooks sharp!
  5. Little Lake is a great fishery and that was a great post! Keep your hooks sharp!
  6. I am not a fisheries biologist but I would have to agree that bass and pike don't compete all that much. They won't eradicate the Pike with that approach, but it would be fun to try. Pike are very tasty, I hope at least a fish fry is on the menu. Keep your hooks sharp!
