It is till close. IS Oshawa getting that bad? I had a mishap before I got to Oshawa pier. At 9:45pm on simcoe road on my way to the pier. I saw two teenagers pretended to play on the road, so I slowed down, just when I was about to pass them, one of them use some kind of weapon, smash and broke my side view mirror. I made a U turn and tried to chase after them to no luck, as they hid on some residential area on the side road called Kawarthas road/meadowvale street. I reported the incident to the police. After being distraught of the mishap, and had dealt with the police, by close to 10;30pm, I went towards the pier and was disappointed to not being able to fish it, as the security guard told me the area was close by 10pm till further notice. Two others anglers showed up and we all were unhappy wasting our gas and time, going there, realizing it will be close after 10pm. By 11:00pm., I drove back to the street where my mishap took place, wishfully thinking I might be able to find those prankster. To no luck! Then I saw and I spoke to a couple walking their dog within that block. They said they notice two burglers tried to enter their garage few nights, ago. The fellow woked up, went out, turned on his light, then saw the two guys ran away. They were over 40 years old, as he recalled. During my reporting incident with Police, they told me no murders happened so far in Oshawa, area just burglery and car thief.

Owner is coming to pick up the combo on monday. There were more people that passed by that rod combo, when it was left behind, if I did not pick it up after I finish fishing, it would have been gone.

Can I use the wire on a Jumper Cable to hook up two 12V Deep cycle battery to create a 24V system for Trolling motor? For years , I have been using Jumper cable wire to connect the 12V Deep cycle battery to my Trolling motor. I was reading that I should use 6Awg wire for 24V system. I believe some Jumper cable wire are around 8AWG. How do I determine the gauge thickness on a Jumper Cable?

When my trolling motor skeg broke from accidentally hitting the boat ramp on my way in. I improvised and created a skeg using the soft plastic chopping board as material. Before gluing them together, I sanded my trolling motor off all excess paint to bare metal, them I glued the plastic skeg to the motor using fibreglass auto bondo. The plastic and bondo was easy to create into the shape of a skeg. I put extra bondo material on the Motor and the outside of the cut up plastic skeg. The fibreglass bondo was strong. I was always careful since then that I never allowed any rocks to touch my Trolling motor again. the improvised skeg never came off in years I owned the Trolling motor. I have never fixed my own broken skeg off my boat engine, When the lower unit was damaged and skeg broke off once, I took the lower unit off by myself, and let a professional guy weld another piece in and patch the lower unit.

I finally saw the extra $4.30 additional service fee, on top of whatever license and outdoor card we need to buy, the fee only shows up at the last page when we are about to enter our credit card info. We need to check the box, two pages before, that we agree to be charge this additional service fee, or else we cannot proceed to the final billing page. I do not recall ever seeing this additional service charge in the past when applying on line.

The on line www2.on.wildlifelicense.com/start.php has a mandatory box that we are forced to check it, stating we agree to be charge additional service fee . Anyone knows how much this additional fees were being collected once we try to pay the final amount using our credit card?

I am contemplating of buying a used Motorguide 75lb 24V bow mount wireless control Trolling motor. Any potential issues with the wireless unit? I read that the wireless control does not respond with some obstruction between the control and the motor, But I do not intend the put the control too far from the motor itself. I also read on line that the hand control seems to work better. Thanks for any feedback.

Check to ensure they are open, Erie canal museum in seracuse is a cool small free museum. Read it's history. Fish at Waterpark dam south of point breeze, oak orchard ,an area before hitting rochester, you need a life jacket as the law states even fishing on shore beside the dam. Fish the deepest water area closes to the hydro plant outflow, few steelhead were landed there by others....., if you can get to that spot, which is 8ft deep, chance are high you will get one by float fishing with beads, though the whole dam area can get very crowded, most other spot are just 3 to 4 ft deep. Burt dam is another area, closer to buffalo, but water has been shallow , can wade and fish beside the fall. If you exit kingston area, Pulaski ny is rank one of the best salmon trout fishing area in ny . But I have never fish it. The custom border there can get busy, due to construction. Stay at Parsippany,NJ, area, lots of shops there, then drive to a bus terminal, and commute to Manhattan by bus, or stay at Howard Johnson near secaucus, bus stop is just behind the building, 3 miles from manhatan. Most family type branded motel cost $50 during slow season, with free breakfast. Metropolitan museum of art in Manhattan is free. No.1 museum in usa. Museum of natural history got famous when Ben stiller had two movies made there. It is not free. Go watch a live Broadway play during matinee hours. Buy tickets at tkts ny for better deal.tickets are 35 to 50 per person, but worth the show to educate and entertain your whole family on modern opera. A must do list for most visitor to manhattan. Phantom, less miserable or lion king, etc, all are very good. Cost way more to watch a play in Toronto if they are available. If you drive the coast line on new jersey, you can view the statue of liberty and Manhattan. Check ny shore fishing regulation, many eastern coastline are free to fish on sea shoreline only. But you still need to register on line. Use shrimp and coarse fish. Google info on shoreline fishing technique, check water tide level as well.

To fish the Niagara River US side, FLOAT SUIT is mandatory from Dec to April month. A friend , who fish the area, said fishing US side seemed more productive. It only cost US$10 per day for NY fishing license , can be applied via on line application, the DEC NY drop the fishing license rate last year. Yearly fishing license cost US$50 for non NY residence. The Devils hole area can get busy, by not buying the US license, one might not have spot fishing the CA side. One of my friend fish it all winter long, he said the toughest to do is boat control and to slow down the boat drift, one need a powerful trolling motor, so the lead weight will sit as vertically as possible to avoid less hang ups, Without a strong trolling motor, boat will just drift very fast off the Devils hole. He used three way swivel with kwikfish as bait. He said hang ups cannot be avoided. But he seldom loses the kwikfish lures, only the lead weight. Also check satellite imagery for water clarity - It is cloudy today Dec 1 as shown on the website, the clouds blocked the view by chance, but on previous days image, you can visualize the water clarity on Niagara River. In between lake Erie and Lake Ontario is Niagara river, so far water has not been clear for a while now, it can be tougher to fish it at times. But based on shore fishing report, some fish were sporadically being landed at the lower river. A SW wind will also cause lake Erie to get murky due to lake Erie being shallower compared to Lake Ontario. It was the CBSA that was finicky, Not US Border patrol officer. Maybe CBSA need more new materials for their reality TV shows. Someone from another board reported CBSA fined american boaters of $700 from carrying Night crawlers fishing Canadian waters. since the worms were not certified. WHile driving across the border on two occasion, American Border patrol on Lewiston bridge was overly friendly to my surprise. One officer wanted to know where I fish at niagara river, and what lure I used, so I went to the trunk to show my collection of lures on my tackle box. There were car line ups behind me, but he did not care and wanted to chat about fishing, and we chatted on fishing presentation, . Another instant I was ask where I was going, and I said fishing at Burt's Dam NY , Pulaski, etc... He said "That's my man" then he suggested to also try Olcott, and finger lakes, also have good fishing. I could not say US or Canadian border officer were either friendly or rude in general, my experience were mix.

When I called US border security 1-800-827-2851, and spoke to one of their officer, I was told we do not need to call them as long as we are not bringing hazardous goods across the border. I presume we need to call them when we are bringing live bait or worms when we cross the US water line, the term they used was" BRINGING potential Hazardous or contaminated Goods to USA". Due to potential disease from meat, fish, fruits. they would not like that if crossing by land, air or sea. Since my fishing buddies and I do not use live bait or worms, we do not have that potential issue, but our lunch food, could contain, cook meat, fruits, beef jerky, etc...........HOW CAN LIFE BE THAT COMPLICATED?

I went through their list of reporting station, since some boat launching site I used were not part of their TRC(Telephone reporting center) and do not have a phone to use, I am force to detour to a boat launch reporting station if I plan to bring fish? Not an easy place to fish if you do not have a boat. We tried few times after fishing niagara river, then just ventured to the canal. So far was not successful. We heard pike and bass , most reports were carp and channel cats. Port delhousie has bass , I heard walleye, occational sheepheads at night at the mouth. You have more chance fishing it.

My boat is a 16 ft Deep V fibreglass bowrider boat, an older 1980. When I had the flooring change few years ago, using pressure treated wood as joist , then 3/4 plywood everywhere, flat flooring on top with sub floor, aka bass boat , and plenty of storage underneath, lots of hidden seat on the sub flooring, can sit six, and ski on this as well. I knew it got heavier, so I wanted to just weigh it, i do not know the actual weight since I own the used boat almost 10 years ago. Thanks for all of your input. For $15, I do not mind getting it weigh when I go fish and pass to one of the weighing station.. I recently installed some used passenger 145 x80 R12 size tires instead of 5.3x12 trailer tires. Tires got ruined after few fishing trips , where the steel belt hair like wires came out of its side wall. I was not sure if it was the bad used tires I bought, or tires were not rated for my boat weight. or boat too heavy.

I just bought an excellent shape used nylon booted waders from a Kijiji seller, I put it on and tested it on our condo swimming pool with 80 degrees water, and the chest waders felt like it had a vacuum cleaner inside, the nylon material hugged and glued to whatever body parts that were submerged on the swimming pool water. Very hard to walk in it, and it got warm and sticky very fast. IS THIS NORMAL for a nylon waders? Never tried it on colder water temp on rivers yet. Nothing wrong with the waders, and in excellent and clean shape. No holes either.

Does a person have to buy surf fishing license to fish Florida? Fresh and Saltwater are two different license alone.

I was contemplating of going across on cyber monday, I bought few car parts days earlier at ebay, ship to a mail box across lewiston bridge. Then the disastrous snow effect in Buffalo, My wife and I have decided to wait till black friday sale is over to go and pick up my car parts and do shopping, regardless of how left over stock was there, no big deal. Sale has been going on throughout weeks ago. I saw videos of shopping mall on Black friday. I would not want to get involved in that type of commotion on shopping. Some guys we knew will be sleeping over, embrace the cold, outside of walmart store, on thursday night, line up in front of the entrance, pitch tent just for some computer stuff that being sold below cost. Never visualize myself that desperate for computer related technology. Maybe half price for a 16 foot boat and 150Hp engine? ................HMMMMM! Some borders, including Lewiston Bridge at Niagara, is a training ground for rookie custom officer, they are more strict and would force people to pay taxes, if going for few hours, and buying $200 worth of goods. Other wise, my wife and i have been buying and declaring average $250 for 8-12 hours across the border without having to incur any taxes. Use peace bridge as much as possible, less busier at the border coming back . Never mention you shop at Galleria, they know you paid quite a bit. Since Items there are not cheap. We are always across the border by 7:30am, change of the guards at 8am, and always slower. Since Walmart is open 24 hours, we just hang out at the store , have breakfast at Mcdo or somewhere, just to kill time, till all the shop were open. We are not a big shopper , except for Auto parts, tires, household needs, from liquidation place such as Ollies or Big lots etc.. I have been across the border few weeks ago, was not impress with the Cabelas store, smaller. I would just shop on line, if I need anything. No urgency, there are other website way better price than BPS or Cabelas, for basic fishing lures, that I need. I bought some stuff from Amazon for the first time valued over $35. Free shipping , since they split up 4 items into 3 shipment, I have to pay extra per package to use the US address shipping depot across, I was not thrilled, one item was wrong parts received, I will think twice in buying stuff from Amazon., unless it is one item, valued over $35 is free shipping. Walmart or Costco, on line pricing are sometimes good, so I order them to the mailbox address across. Free shipping anyway. I also cancelled my order from walmart after checking the item was not good, decided to not receive it after all, this was a store pick up. With the exchange rate of 13 % + NY tax of 8.5% + potential 13% HSt to pay, Plus toll charges, plus gas, unless one shop around diligently, not that good of a deal at the end. I would compare shop, before making decision to just go across to buy anything. For Car parts, always cheaper to buy in USA. Advance Auto parts has TNT30 code, 30% off parts, but some still more expensive than Ebay even after 30% off, since we still have to pay NY 8.5% tax. The advantage is we can return parts unused when we go back next time. I would also fish at NIagara river, and when my buddy and I go across to pick up inexpensive stuff I bought on line, than it can be worth the while, otherwise, not that big of a savings these days. But to make wife happy to go across at times............Priceless! Erie PA does not charge taxes on clothing. gas cheaper too. A short stretch within that state has good deal gas, within the freeway to ohio. once you have pass few gas station, state will change to Ohio, price go back up again.

Spray paint the thread of the tires with some light colored paint, then run them, it will be more obvious to figure out where the tire threads are wearing out. I got fed up wearing out trailer tires. So I change them to passenger tires, they run softer ride, wears out way longer and cheaper to buy used ones at kijiji as well. I use the same rim for the radial tires, google info for matching radial tires size to your trailer tires. The radial tires can also be balance, unlike trailer tires, they do not recommend them balance.

I was at Dollarama few days ago and was surprise to witness many fishing items went up to $2. Swimbaits are over price for $1 a piece. Most plastic lures are way too light due to inferior material used, few larger crank bait in 5-6" are still fine so better grab them, old stock lures are still at $1 ,until they get sold out with new sticker showing $2. Hooks need to be re-harpened,... very dull. Some stores carry the floating frog which is fine but not available in most stores. Some larger spinners can spin fine or miss. There are other fishing on line site that provides better quality, price and assortment. For other items not fishing related, DOLLAR TREE at $1.25 has better pricing, but they do not have lures except ,some cheap fishing line.

I tow my 1998 3.3L caravan with my 16ft fiberglass boat. It had a transmission cooler. The transmission just broke last year in februay 2013, luckily, I was not towing my boat on a long distance drive. It cost me $1200 to get it rebuilt, not too bad, had 275, 000Km on it when the transmission and front axle broke the same day. I am also very careful when I shift, always on full stop before shifting to another gear. I also try not to park up or downhill and let the transmission do the vehicle parking.
