    Wanted

What are the dimensions of your garage and your garage door? The big Lund's with the IPS2 hull are too wide to fit into a standard 8' wide door and if you're getting the full windshield most standard garage doors do not have the height clearance. I settled for a smaller Lund, a 2008 1675 explorer ss, and with the swing tongue I only have a few inches to spare in a 20' garage. I could put it on an angle and fit a slightly bigger boat, but I like it sitting straight, easier in and out. Just something to think about. Rae
  2. I installed it last winter when there was a mail-in rebate thingy. I think its great, its definitely worth the $. Finding weeds is really nice, and being able to tell what you are seeing is easier. I'm not sure if you have two units, but I ordered the extra ethernet cable for the front unit so they are networked. Having the ability to see the waypoint I just dropped at the wheel unit up on the bow unit is GREAT, I feel its a huge benefit Rae
  3. I have two HDS 5's that came with my boat (US boat) One of the units has Insight, and from what I've seen the base map itself is identical. The insight has these little icons on the popular lakes (US lakes and great lakes) that when you cursor over them they will give you information on the area and some tips. I was on Erie in the spring and I was near Windmill point, and there was an icon on the map that explained the sanctuary area that was closed at the time and what the popular presentations are when the area is open. It's a neat feature for sure but if I was buying a new unit I would not be worried about getting it. Jocelyn would be able to tell you all the differences for sure... Rae
  4. I picked up a GL2 spinnng rod the other week, 6'8" medium, ex fast (I think...jig and worm series) I didn't really know much about them at the time but they felt nice and looked great. I used it for the first time last weekend and I LOVED it. I have always been a big fan of St.Croix rods but after using the GL2 I will be getting more for sure. Rae
  5. I found myself out of beer late at night on the weekend, so I had one of my wife's 0.5% beer (O'doole's I think) and I couldn't believe how much it tasted like the real deal. I even had one the next day to confirm this. So I was thinking how nice it would be to have a cold 0.5% beer on the boat while fishing and remain within the law, or is anything above 0.0% too much? Rae
  6. I'm just throwing this out there...Do you have any GFI outlets on the circuits you were working on? I have seen in the past entire rooms wired downstream of a GFI outlet and when the power was turned off and on again the GFI tripped and everything downstream is dead. Its worth a quick check to test/reset any GFI's you have. Rae
  7. I have a friend that now lives in Latchford and I've been there on fishing trips a few times. Tons of hammer handle pike in the top end of the lake where is turns into a river. Rae

    Ram Mounts

I was looking at this for my Terrova http://www.gpscity.ca/ram-mount-round-plate-long-multi-strap-base-mount-1.5-ball.html
  9. Don't forget the coffee..... http://www.coleman.com/coleman/colemancom/detail.asp?product_id=2000008430
  10. I only had two "bills of sale" one that included both the boat and motor and the second for just the trailer. In the end you pay tax on everything... Rae
  11. I'll take a stab at promoting a roller trailer: I used to have a bunk trailer on my old boat, all my friends have bunk trailers and I do like them. I picked up a used Lund in the fall and it was perfect in every way except it had a roller trailer. Now that I have some experience with it, I really like the roller trailer. My old bunk trailer had the carpet wear of the back of the bunks within two years. My roller trailer has 20 individual rollers on 4 racks, so I don't feel that support is a problem on a 16'8" hull. When I load the boat I have the back set of rollers in the water and the front set out of the water, I can push the boat up to the front roller with 1000rpm, I leave the motor pushing while I hook up the front strap. I find my roller trailer with load guides is more consistent than my old bunk trailer for loading the boat straight. I do miss the bunks when I launch though, nothing easier than dunking the trailer and driving away. It would be nice if the rollers only rolled one way, allowing to load with ease but not roll back. Rae
  12. I found my Lund in Craigslist. The guy was in Wisconsin but drove the boat to the other side of Chicago for me to meet him. It took me 2 years of searching before I found what I wanted, but I wasn't in a rush. This site searches all of Craigslist Ebay and Kijiji, but old adds are not updated so only look at the latest ones. http://boat.jaxed.co...ye=&submit=+GO+ This site can search every Craigslist area at once. http://www.crazedlist.org/
  13. I swear I saw this boat launch last Fri morning (12th) out of Crystal Beach. If it was the same boat I saw, then that's amazing that the boat survived that punishment.
  14. 11 foot waves on Erie right now...:(

  15. I love my Terrova, and I want to get the iPilot module for mine but I think the Lowrance structure scan module will come first. Do you have the proper connector for the US2? I just paid $38 in the states for the HDS connector I think the spot lock feature is the feature I would use the most....enjoy
  16. I just imported a boat two weeks ago from the US and you have to pay HST on the sale of the Boat/motor and then they split the HST up and make you pay GST on the sale of trailer at the importation office. Then you pay the remaining PST portion on the trailer at the MTO office when you get the ownership. In the end you do pay the equivalent of HST on everything. My first boat I bought was from a Marina up here, it was used and I didn't pay the taxes, the marina must of worked it into the price and took care of it... Rae
  17. Do you just need the boat license (service Canada paper that issues your boat #'s) and proof of Insurance? And your operators card. Is there anything else I should have in the boat? I was in the US last week getting a used boat and I'm almost done with all the paperwork, hopefully tomorrow will be my maiden voyage. I just want to be sure I have all the documentation in case I get pulled over on the water. Rae
  18. I think SCOTTY is made in Canada, that's what the box says...
  19. Well, I just discovered I had WFN in HD on the weekend and from what I saw most shows were "filling out the screen", where the old channel would have to be stretched to fill it out. Now, it doesn't seem to be "Discovery channel" quality but it looks much better than than SD WFN. Maybe I'm just getting used to HD now and it doesn't stand out anymore when I see it. Rae
  20. Great Pics, thanks for sharing. My daughter is 19 months old now and I'm looking forward to doing some ice fishing this winter. Rae
  21. My Rogers (ch 426) seems to be working fine. I also just noticed that ch 542 is now WFN in HD, never noticed that before and don't know how long thats been there. Rae
  22. It can be really tough to convert an older motor that is set up for remote steering to a tiller, trying to get parts etc. It's much easier to go from tiller to remote. Here is a link to some used outboard motors in the states, they will ship them: http://smalloutboards.com/ This place has tons of used motors but the prices are on the high side and all the 35hp's are remote. http://www.spmw.com/motors.html Rae
