  1. I have an opportunity to buy a 14' princecraft with trailer and a Honda 9.9hp. The boat is 4/5 years old as is the trailer. The motor is also 4/5 years old with very little hours of use. There are no toys on the boat and the motor has electric start. Everything has been well maintained. How much would this boat package be worth?
  2. I just recieved an e-mail that the smelts are running on Nippissing, I'm not smelting this year, have to get up to early for work.
  3. I'll keep bass only if I can cook it over an open fire pit.
  4. I've watched that a few times, good for girls young and old.
  5. Thanks Bill parker, ohiofisherman, Bill and Gbaygiant (have that site already book marked) and greencoachdog for your helpfull answers. Everyone else is a smartass lol I can not find the neetsfoot oil although I haven't been to the trapper's store yet, I'll check there on Monday. I read that I could use any oil but that doesn't seem to be right, my furs are like playing with bacon. The braintan.com site has alot of info there, thanks for the link. I have seem small reference to ivory soap but there is not much info about that. Could you give me some more details on the hows? Using actual brains is very unappealing to me. Rabbit skins are very thin so beating them with a stick would turn them into mince meat (although it may work to soften hubby up) As very chewing on them, I need you to go and show me how that works
  6. When do I add the oils when it is still wet after the pickle or do I wait for the hide to dry first??
  7. I'm wondering if any of the hunters on board tan their own hides. I'm trying to learn how using some rabbit skins. I've followed the directions for alum and also have tried using trappers hide tanning formula but my skins are coming out very stiff even after alot of stretching and working them. I have a deer hide in the freezer but I don't want to touch it until I can do it right. What is the secret to soft hides?
  8. I haven't seen an empty station in or around North bay, gas is $.99 to $102.9 as of last night.
  9. So I rented a bungalow in Calander Bay from Terrace Suites for 3 days and 2 nights. Nice hut, good hospitality, fishing sucked. there are no fish in calander Bay. No body was catching much of anything so it wasn't just us lol. Didn't take many pics, there was nothing to take pics of. We did have a good time anyways, 3 days with no children was blissful (i have 3, 2 being teen boys) The City Our Castle Mark enjoying himself I caught 4 of these in 3 days, all this size I caught this in the middle of the night, thought maybe it was a walleye. Was not impressed to see him at 3 am Which reminds me: if a person brings a fish in using someone elses line (say, their wife's) who's fish is it? Mark pulled a fish in on my line because I was busy doing something and he says it is his fish. I say it was mine and he is still skunked. Professesional opions needed here lol
  10. Weds while at work there was a sudden bustle in the store ( I work at Timmies). the hockey buffs were all excited because Johnny Bower just walked in. I'm not a hockey fan but got Johnny to sign a player's card for mark's grandpa who is a big hockey buff. His son lives somewhere in the area and he was her to visit. Cool eh?
  11. Awww gee, thanks, Gerrit...*blushes and shuffles feet* Thats what I didn't like about Rob's, bringing pots and pans ect. Everything else i don't mind bringing but I don't want to lug the kitchen around. Even though, Rob's is on top of the list. Irishfield, sorry, lol, not far from Northbay, I thought 2 hours give or take from Nippissing was enough said. We are thinking Temagami or somewhere around there. I'm getting a list of people to call for prices and what they offer.
  12. I'm not "most women", don't mind roughing it. "most women" wouldn't be comfortable at lakaire but I think it's a great time. Hubby's the one that won't be comfortable lol, he's scared of ice but seeing as how it's my 40th birthday coming up and he has been working ALOT he is considering it. If we go ice fishing, i want him to have the ultimate experience. I read comboys post and although the dates would work well for me, it's also alone time we are looking forward to. We have 3 kids and need to get away if only for a couple of days. Sorry I stand correct, hubby has been on ice once when he was a kid and the big crack sound convinced him ice is not safe, even at 3' thick. He has never been ice fishing.
  13. hey everyone! So valentines day, my anniversy and 40th (yep,40th) birthday are all coming up, 14th, 17th and the 24th. Don't forget the 14th guys!! Anyway, I have Hubby thinking about about renting an ice bungalow for a few days around the 20th of Feb. This is a big thing for him, he's never been on the ice, one of the few things he is scared of. We both have a few days off. I've looked into Glen Echco, they come fully equipped. and also Rob's, his prices are cheaper but i would have to bring more stuff. Who else would you suggest?? Doesn't have to be on Nippissing but not too far away, say within 2 hours give or take.Would also consider a cabin with transport to a hut. I need someone who supplys the fishing gear as we don't have ice fishing stuff.
  14. thanks everyone for your well wishes, Docs are now part of my life .I see one every 3 months now to help me manage the diabetes so I guess i'll get used to them. Joey...The landlord thing has been resolved. They gave us an eviction notice for Dec 31, we tried to fight it but found out becuase we rent on the reserve that yes then could just come and throw us out( that came straight from the native police). We had a meeting with them yesterday and they have agreed to let us stay until the end of Jan with conditions. One of the conditions being my rabbits must be removed off the property on Dec 31. I asked him why and he said he didn't want me bringing them in the house.I asked why the frig I would want to bring 19 rabbits(i have 14 babies) in the house?? We informed he that these rabbits were not pets but that i was raising them for meat. He relented and said i could have them on the property until we move. so all ended well.We move into our new rental on jan 31, about the same time i go back to work.
  15. First off I would like to say i like the new site! This is my first chance to check it out. When I hit the moose in Aug, it brought to light some exsiting health problems that I was ignoring due to my fear of Docs, one of them being a 8 inch tumour on my right ovary that was removed on dec 8. The surgury went well and I am cancer free Sitting at the computer has been very uncomfortable for me until today. Second off I want to wish everyone here Merry Christmas (better late than never) and all the best to each of you and your familys in the new year. The high light of my Christmas was opening the gift from my hubby( we don't usually buy for each other but get something for the house instead). He went and bough me a Hummingbird smart cast portable fish finder, the one that goes on your rod. Does any one have one? Do you like it? I can't wait to try it , maybe this coming year I will find the fish! Again all my best wishes to you and yours! Joyce
