  1. Just wondering if anyone can recommend spots around North Bay for smelt fishing? Its been years since I have had some and we would love to get out and get some this year.
  2. Way to go Moosehead!!!!! Congrats, hope I get as lucky in mine, wont know til november and I'm tied for 27 votes.
  3. Billy Bob, when we got our middle miniature poodle, she chewed through the satelite/cable wires (as well as other wires/cables) too many times to count, she even ate my rose bushes several times!!! What we had to do to stop it was take a piece of garden hose and run our wires/cables through that until she out-grew her chewing phase. It got too expensive to replace the wires all the time. With all the things she ate, we are surprised she never got electricuted...and I did without rose bushes until about 4 years ago.
  4. RFLMFAO Dad. I meant to say "It's MY daughter & MY bf" in the pic. As it was, I was impressed neither Tara nor Claude tipped the canoe just to shut the other one up or get even with each other. I also wouldn't have been that far away had Tara been out there with her bf....at least not without something more powerful than a cell phone
  5. Thanks Frankie, you are so right! Thats my daughter & bf in the pic, which was taken with my cell phone. I have to say it takes better pics than my camera LOL!
  6. Got my vote too, could you please return the favour and vote for my pic? I too posted in here asking for votes for a contest just scroll down til u find my post
  7. Thanks for the compliments & votes so far everyone LOL moosehead, I had to check before I posted mine, I didn't want to ask in here if we had been in the same contest.
  8. Hi everyone, I have entered a contest and really need some help. If you guys can click "like" on my photo it would really help me out a lot. Here is the link : http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=256276197744170&set=a.239109519460838.56934.125797397458718&type=1&theater#!/photo.php?fbid=256276197744170&set=a.239109519460838.56934.125797397458718&type=1&theater Thanks
  9. I totally agree with Chris, when you bring her home, you may stumble across the perfect name. For example when we got our miniature poodle, we brought her home and the 3 of us each got to say a name we thought suited her...can't remember what mine & my boyfriends name choices were, but my daughter chose Brandy and it suited her perfectly...it just felt right. Same thing happened with my daughter's toy poodle, we brought him home and she went through about 3 names and decided he seemed like a "cosmo", again, a perfect fit. Our oldest toy poodle/bichon was 6 years old when we adopted her and was already named Angel, but it does suit her too. We do occasionally call them other names, like when Brandy ate all the cables in the house + my rose bushes ect...or Cosmo shredded my daughters report card (ya, i'm wondering if he took the blame for her LOL), Thankfully neither of them do that stuff anymore. It was just a coincidence that it turned out to be A,B & C What ever you name her, I am 100% sure it will be perfect.
  10. LOL Most definately Roy. I know what you mean Mike, as a kid I would balk at half the stuff I eat now. I don't eat the sushi myself, not my thing, I like my fish cooked "awwww thanks crappieperchhunter" from Tara. you won't regret it if you do go there I am sure.
  11. Today is my daughter Tara's Sweet 16 Birthday. Last night we took her to a restaurant in Sudbury called Okinawa's Sushi, a place she had really wanted to try, for her birthday supper. It was great! When you are seated you are given a paper & pencil so that you can write down what your table wants on the menu and the quantity of each item. The portion sizes were large, the service fantastic with food coming very quickly to the table and used dishes being removed with only a moments wait. The owner, whom we originally thought to ourselves was a very friendly waiter/greeter, came over to our table to speak to us & introduce himself. He even went to the kitchen and brought me a small dish of salt! It may not mean much to anyone else, but I have salt on pretty much everything, and the last sushi place we tried, they just said they didn't have any. If anyone is looking for a all-you-can-eat sushi place in Sudbury, I would definately recommend going here. All the little things they did for us enhanced our dining experience and made it a night we will remember.
  12. We're using Netspectrum Dad, no problems with it at all yet, we've had some pretty bad storms here and it still worked. Personally though, if I had been able to get cable internet here I probably would have gone that route instead. Not sure what they charge to install for cable, but I didn't like having to pay the $250 installation fee for wireless.
  13. LOL I agree with Billy Bob about getting a 2nd pup Dad. At least if the little guy has a playmate, they can keep each other company.
  14. Thx everyone. Yes Joey they are trout. We will be taking extra rods & reels from now on lol.
  15. Last night my bf asked me if I wanted to go fishing in the morning. Of course I said yes and asked him what time he wanted to head out. He said he wanted to be gone by 6:00 AM so as eager as I was, I went to bed about 1:45 AM and set my alarm for 4:30 AM. I like a bit of peace and quiet to enjoy my coffee before having to deal with anyone else and I figured he would get up about 5. Finally at 5:39 (yes I was watching the clock) he got up and came downstairs. We had a quick coffee (my second) and left the house by 6:30. The place we went to is about an hour drive from where we live, but its a nice drive. We knew the weather network was calling for thunderstorms for the afternoon and figured that since we planned on leaving by then it would work out perfectly. 5 minutes away from our destination, it starts raining. I told Claude that as long as it isn't thundering & lightning I don't care about a little rain as we have to walk through some water to get to our spot anyway. Wouldn't you know it, just as we park the car thunder & lightning starts! Rain is now pretty heavy as well. He asked me what I wanted to do and I told him I was staying put til the thunder & lightning was done. About 1/2 an hour later we were able to start the walk to our spot. Not long after we started fishing, Claude reeled in the first fish followed moments later by his second. Eventually I caught 1 as well then nothing else. I glanced over to where he was sitting and see him holding his rod (1/2 of it anyway) in one hand, his reel in the other and the top portion of his rod missing with a goofy look on his face. Good thing we take only old rods to this spot. Being the considerate and prepared girlfriend I am, I insist he take my rod and try to catch some more fish. He argued some, until I told him I also brought a book along and didn't mind reading. So he tried, but I guess the fish decided they had had enough and stopped biting after that. At least we got a couple though. His 2 were bigger than my 1, but thats ok, since I shared my rod, he's going to share his fish...not that he has any other choice LOL.
  16. I do not say much in here as I was taught "speak if you have something to say & not just to hear yourself speak". I am in here almost daily reading though. With that being said, here goes. First off...Dad, yes the story of Sam & Curiosity raiding your pockets still gets told & laughed at LOL, Mom actually told Tara not that long ago when going through pictures, she found one of them! My Mom does still rescue &/or feed the wild animals. At present she has about 5 racoons that come to her kitchen window and patiently wait for a slice of bread with margarine or some other goodie. They have not done any damage to anything since she started putting food out for them. Before she started putting food out, they did do some damage. It's just the way she is, she will never change. My daughter has been helping her grandmother feed & hand feed racoons and fox ever since she was about 2 years old. My daughter will be the first to tell you how a fox loves Mr. Freezies and Racoons love marshmallows. We have never in all the years my mom has been feeding them, EVER had any fox, racoon, fisher, martin, skunk...you name it...bite or attack anyone of us. You can say we got lucky, and sure, maybe with one or 2 we did, but not with all of them. This isn't a matter of running up to the first animal you see and shoving your hand in its face, the trust that has been built between humans and the animals was built over time. As my Dad said, my Mom is a hunter, but just because she hunts doesn't mean she kills everything she sees for the hell of it. Before some of you start ranting and raving about my post, let me just say this. Reading people tell others to "accidentally slip and have a caged animal land in a lake or river"...now that I have calmed down...I will be polite and just say, you better hope I never come across any of you doing that as YOU may end up being the ones put in the cage and I "slip" and let the cage go into a body of water. One of the first things I was taught growing up & hunting was you never let ANY animal suffer and you need to respect not only your firearm, but also the animals. Either trap it, fence it out....hell even shoot it as others have said, but dont let ANY animal suffer. It isn't right! Just because it isn't a domestic animal (dog, cat or whatever) doesn't mean you have the right to torture, poison or drown it. Teressa
  17. No, it was not a typo. She has used (sent/received) 15000 text in the last 30 days. She is a teenager, and we don't live in town where she can easily hang out with her friends whenever she wants.
  18. We had bell home phone until the 25th. Over the last 5 years we have called bell to get them to repair the lines coming in from the highway many times. The repair guys have told us that from the highway to our house (less than 1 KM) the line has been spliced 22 times, and that they will not replace it. Bell did try to get us to stay with them, but did not offer us any incentives. I had rogers cell phone also for about 5 years. I had great reception, but lousy service and prices too high. Again, was not offered any incentive to stay with them. Now I have Koodo for cell (3 of them actually mine, my daughter's and my boyfriend). We have had it for about 4 months. No complaints as of yet for quality for calls or text, it takes great pictures. Prices are very reasonable for what we wanted. Grateful for the unlimited text as my daughter has used over 15 000 in the last 30 days. Internet, we were stuck on dial-up here and only connecting at 21 - 24 kbps since 2006. We finally bit the bullet about 2 months ago and went with netspectrum for high speed wireless. As of this moment, we can not be happier with it.
  19. First of all, find out why she doesn't want to move. Discuss with her why you do want to move. Try to compromise if possible.
  20. We too have been lucky with our vet. Our middle dog Brandy , a miniature poodle, had this huge lump (larger than a baseball) coming out the side of her neck when she was almost a year old. 1 over night stay, surgery and meds + free follow up visits cost us just under $500. Our oldest dog Angel, a toy poodle/bichon, was attacked by a standard poodle (we had origionally rescued her from an abusive home - and after the 2nd attack was put down) when she was 12 years old. Not once but twice. Needed surgery, over night stays, meds...the vet actually lost count of the amount of stitches both inside her neck and out, again free check-ups afterwards, again under $500. Our guy loves our babies almost as much as we do. I cant count the number of times we have gone in to see him and he says "No charge today". He is the only vet I will ever take my dogs to. Now Angel is turning 15, Brandy 5 and Cosmo is turning 1. We are actually seeing him next week for the rabies shots.
