  1. jjcanoe's lack of understanding and interpretation from that interview is mind boggling. PK was getting flak because he is a little cocky and uses a little swagger when we have been bombarded with the NHL of the last 5 years that frowns upon such actions...an NHL where regardless of how clean a hit is you now have to start a scrum or a brawl after any big hit in the regular season....PK does things his own way, if you don't like it, cheer for the other team..he doesn't need anyones approval.

  2. just don't park your car downtown.... if they win a game it might be upsidedown and on fire when you return!

I'm sure the last time the leafs won the cup they were overturning cars.....oh wait...I guess its hard to overturn a horse and buggy....

  3. Hey all, I was hoping that someone could help me with a predicament I have run into as of late. Normally in the summer we head up around the Elliot Lake area where every other step is adequate crown land to camp on. With myself finishing up college I don't have the luxury of pulling off that trip on a regular basis anymore. If anyone could point me in the direction of adequate crown land within an hour and a half to two hours from Barrie I would greatly appreciate it. On a decent fishing like would be nice but I am not picky, I just want to get out for the weekend with my family. There needs to be enough room to park a tent trailer with a 12 foot box and my SUV. If you don't want to give away a decent spot on here feel free to PM me. I am not opposed to travelling to the Kawartha Lakes, but a general area to start with would be fantastic. Thank you.

  4. I took a peak while visiting my parents in Orillia yesterday and the canal that I fish on during the festival is open but all of the bays on the east side of Simcoe that line the western flank of Orillia are still frozen except for the first 10-20 feet. Hopefully the nicer weather and rain this week will help out you guys who are launching your boats for the festival. The whole narrows area should be good by then I imagine.

  5. Thanks for the info guys. We ended up using minnows yesterday and fished from about 7am until 11am catching about 100 perch each. Only 18 keepers out of all of those perch but we had a blast regardless. The only real annoyance with using minnows obviously was constantly having to re-apply a fresh minnow after our little yellow friends had eaten or mangled them. All that work made it difficult to remember to take pics but I am heading out on Sunday again and will snap some.

  6. Hello all, I am planning on heading out off Gilford for the first time this winter tomorrow. I grew up in the Orillia area but moved away after joining the military in 2002 and just recently bought a home in Barrie so I haven't been around the Simcoe fishing scene in quite a while. I was just wondering if Gilford Bait and Tackle is my best bet for minnows in the morning and if anyone knew what time they open. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  7. I grew up in Orillia and recently bought a home in Barrie so I am pretty up to speed on Simcoe/Couchiching and lake fishing in general. I was wondering if within 45 minutes or so there is accessible Brook Trout or other river and stream species that are available. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
