  1. Been struggling finding active fish out deep on simcoe this year after first ice, resulting in many skunks :wallbash:

The 2hr drive home got me thinking and missing the open water!

On the bright side the perch hole is still producing well :worthy:

Decided to put together another edit from some footage taken this past summer & fall.

Let me know what you think, if you like the video give us a follow more to come! :Gonefishing:

    Tight Lines,

  2. Was that a spinning reel that I saw for a split second there? A $500.00 float reel would have sealed the deal and made this a fantastic video. :whistling:

I only use my straddic when trout fishing small creeks, makes it more of a challen then busting out my islander and raven float IM8 rod and getting my line caught in every little branch while getting to my spot ;)

But man trust me I love pin fishing, I will have some videos coming soon when I get some time to get down to my favorite huron tribs and get into some fish on my 15ft raven, should be some good footage :canadian:

As for the $500 float reel, id rather stick with the islander and get a GLX  Islanders are tough as nails and arent too overpriced!

  3. Nice video, a great start! :clapping:

    I would:

lower the camera angle on your chest mount, too much sky, too little water.

standardize your font colour, size and indentation.

utilize the underwater capability of GoPro, fish look the best in water. (given clear water condition)

Perhaps a 2nd GoPro from your buddy for action shot

Music is great, but if you can workout good audio/conversation during the fight, it'll add more life to the video

    :blahblah1:

Thank man, great advise was looking for more tips like these!

I do want to get a 2nd camera I'm thinking switching between multiple angles would have a great effect on the videos.

As for the audio I'm going to try to do that more also!

Its actually a head mount, Its hard to imagine what the camera is viewing but il try to have it lower. I think a chest mount would be sweet to tho!.

Thanks again everyone for the imput!

  4. Great video! Nice edits, good tune. Like someone else said…water drops are annoying, but hey…it was raining….what can ya do right?

    NICE FISH!

Thanks, yeah thats a good piece of advise il keep a microfiber cloth on hand and wipe the screen after it rains!

You gotta keep that lens clean man, those water droplets are very distracting. I'd suggest having an air dust blower and some microfibre lens cleaning towels on hand before you start filming.

That's a very nice coloured up buck!

Good call Bill, il deffinetly try to keep the screen clean it is very distracting how it messes up the picture. I was surprised how hard that buck fought for how long it must have been in the river. But then again utralight 6'0 vs 13'6 noodle rod makes a big difference!

  5. Hey guys,

So we just put together another video from some footage of a battle with a nice coloured up buck way upstream on a feeder creek that flows into canada's main tributary of Lake Erie.

Was just wondering what you guys think about the video as it is only our second one! Any tips, advice of feedback would be greatly apreciated!

Caught the buck, using a 6'0 Utralight fenwick bush rod, shimano straddic reel with 6lb mainline, 4lb drennan fluoro leader float fishing a logjam with fresh rainbow roe, it was quite the fight!

  6. Hello Everyone,

My one buddy has a pellet gun rifle.

It is a crossman Phantom gun.

It shoots .22 Cal pellets and shoots 495 fps.

My question is would you need to have a hunting lisence to hunt small game with this pellet gun or how does that work with a pellet gun?

    Thanks,

    Tight Lines!

  7. When you say hang your seats, i understand where your coming from with the idea. I think i will do this but i was just wondering were u attach the seats to dirrectly to the cannoe under the gunnels than hang them down a couple inches? Or what would be my best bet do you think?

    Thanks for the imput!

If it's a beater, then I'd just get some ash (rip it if you can find the appropriate length) for the inner and outer gunwales. stainless screws from the outside. make sure you have enough width to hang the seats and yoke. I'd just pay the piper and buy a good yoke (teal for example). I like yokes that have a slight tilt in them so the canoe sits bow high when carrying.

you'll want to hang your seats instead of attaching directly to the gunwale so it gives you a lower centre of gravity. again, I would just look around and buy these. my seats use lacing vs seatbelt webbing. I get waffle butt from them but it's still got some cushioning.

all told, yer looking at around $350 ± for gunwales and seats from Noah's. http://www.noahsmarine.com/index.asp

make sure you oil the gunwales before attaching them.

and it'd be great to see photos of the progress from beater to floater ;)

  8. Thanks for the imput! i will surely post some pictures of the progress! Thus far all i have done is dand the old paint off. The next step is to do some minor repairs with a fiberglass repair kit and the resin so il snap some pictures of the progress :)

Thanks again for all the imput!

  9. Thanks Moosebunk! I think im leaning towards ash for the time being just need to pick up some lumber and epoxy. Then the next step would be to figure out the best way to wet the wood or steam if if necesasairy to get the proper flex in the wood!

What's the plastic you could use... PVC type? For wood, ash is probably best. Noticed this week after checking that the splash guards and keels on the WarCanoe are oak. It does bend too... not sure enough for a smaller canoe with greater bended shaped. Been sniffing epoxy for 3 days in the garage doing some canoe restoration. You get this job done for yourself you won't consider the canoe as much of a "a beater." Instead you'll be happy with a good personal job done.

Voyageur canoe I think is in Peterborough... they'd likely have options for parts to buy.

  10. Hello Fellow OFC'ers!

I recently made received a old beater cannoe from a friend who had no use for it anymore.

I have a number of repairs to do on the cannoe.

The cannoe is 14 ft in length and is made of fiberglass.

I had to remove the old railings for the cannoe because the wood was molded.

So know im trying to figure out the best way to repair the side railings and what kind of wood to use or any other sugestions.

I also have to put in seats and a knew yoak. Just wondering if you had any sugestions in matierials to use to best suit the repairs and where to go to get them.

    I live in kitchener.

    Thanks in advance!!

  11. Hey fellow OFC's,

Just like to start this post off by saying im an NOT asking for any information regarding how the fishing is going or to find out any hot spots for the rivers.

I was just wondering if anybody had any information regarding the river conditions of the rivers in in the grey bruce area ( saug ) or ( sauble) or even the infamous river located in godrich....

Just wondering if there blown out or not too bad, was thinking of trying one out sometime this week, dont want to make the comute (2hrs) if there alredy blown out.

    Thanks in advance. :)

    Crappie Boy,

  12. Today afterschool we headed out on a local creek for browns and specs and i caught this fish. Not 100% sure what kind of trout it is but if i had to guess i would say cross between brown and speck, if theres even such a fish. The creek has resident browns and specs. thannks in advance.

  13. Thanks for the help, i think il bump up my mainline if the problem continues because i just spent 15$ on that spool of maxima and its still fresh im too cheap to waste it! next time il just try and take my time and let the fish tire out before i try and land it i guess.

    tight lines,
