  1. Hey guys...heading up to the Upper French on JUne 5th for a week. Staying at Lunge Lodge. Has anyone been up that way yet this year? I've seen all the reports on Nippising, but was wondering if anyone has seen the conditions on the French. How are the water levels? Is it still navigable? How's the fishing? (we'll be targeting pike)

    Thanks for any input!!

  2. Just wanted to get your guys thoughts on the best type of line to use for pike fishing. I prefer using wire leaders to connect to the lure. Do you guys prefer mono or braid for the main line? Do you think it really makes any difference, being that the fiosh can see the leader anyway?

    Thanks for the input!

  3. This is gonna be fun! This series is up for grabs.

I still love hearing the 21,000 crybabies looking for a call when a Hab gets hit or whine when a clear boarding call is made. Get a grip people. I thought you knew how hockey is played. Are there enough tissues in Montreal to keep it up?

I agree...I had alot of respect for the Montreal fans before last night. There is obviously a great passion in the fan base, but they sure don't seem to know much about playoff hockey. Throwing trash all over the ice and yelling at the refs?? Real classy. Heaven for bid if you would have lost the game...lots of cheese would have had to be ordered to go with that whine. What a shame.

Should be a good remainder of the series...thought here is that the superior team will prevail in a 7-game battle.

  4. Do you guys tie braid directly to any of your lures. There are definitely applications where there is no need for a fluoro or mono leader and braid directly to a lure should work. My question is what type of knot do you use? I've had issues with knots slipping with braid. Suggestions?

    Thanks!

  5. The map # for the area is actually #6036. That will cover 5-mile bay to the west arm of Nippising and everwhere you will fish in between. You can get it from bigwoodssports.com. They will ship it to the US without any issues.

I will be making my first trip to Lunge this spring (June 5-12), so I can't comment on the lodge, but have heard nothing but good things. In all of my past trips there, I have stayed at Casablanca Lodge. Bryan is having issues with the place and looking to sell, so his prices have skyrocketed, hence why we are switching it up this year. Mike and Steve have been very helpful with booking Lunge for this year.

We primarily fish for pike and muskie and I'd be happy to share some good areas with you. I don't proclaim to be an "expert" on the Upper French, but we have caught our fair share of big (40"+) pike and big (50"+) muskie. Often times you have to sort through some smaller fish, but there are monsters in this area...I mean monsters. It's a great part of the river. Feel free to send me a PM anytime.

  6. Anyone that says Crosby is "not a team player" doesn't know much about hockey. He is the sole reason the Pens have been in the past 2 cup finals, and clearly makes other around him much better. He makes the entire team elevate their play, and is a tireless worker, both in games and in practice). He is by no means the reason Canada lost last night. Old defense and poor decision making by Brodeur has a little more to do with it. I'm sure we'll meet again and look forward to another great game for a medal. :)

  7. The Upper French is fantastic. Lunge Lodge or Casablanca Lodge are great places to stay. Great food and accommodations. I think anywhere you go on the French the fishing will be good, you just have to know where to find 'em depending on the time of year. Feel free to message me for more info.

    Good luck!

  8. We hunt them back here in the states often. I've had great success early in the morning with a squealing rabbit call (you can get them at any good sporting goods store). I've also had them come in during spring turkey season to hen calls. Lots of fun with a .422!

  9. Good morning all. I'm new to the board, so I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone and sharing fishing knowledge.

My buddy and I are headed to the Upper French this spring (June) to fish for pike and muskie. We're staying at Lunge Lodge this time. We've been up nthere twice before, but this will be our first time at Lunge Lodge. Has anyone ever stayed there? We've had some great success in the past years in this area, but I'm always looking for more tips. I'm interested to see if anyone else has fished this part of the river and is willing to share tips. I don't proclaim to be an expert, but as I said, we've had our share of success catching big pike and muskie. Look forward to hearing from you all.
