  1. Went out on Lake Couchiching with a friend on Saturday and got the Hobie wet for the first time this season. Caught quite a few perch, only one decent size one however, a couple smallies and then this thing...

I had NO idea what this 3lb 11oz green finned fighter was at the time but on the two hour drive home my gf had some time to look into it on her phone and after a little bit of diggin around Google we found it.

So say hello to my first experience with a Bowfish!

Apparently there's a million other slang names for this dude, such as swamp bass, mud musky, and a few others that had just as much aural appeal, but bowfish is his name-o.

We also found out that this is one of those fish that have gone much unchanged since T-rex was stompin around.

After I caught that guy the wind started to really pick up (in typical Couchiching fashion) and we had to make our headwind mission back into shore. Waves were coming fully up and over the bow! It was pretty fun splashin about like that but it made for an hour-long pedal back into Tud Hope. Let me just say how glad I was to not have to paddle back! God bless the Pro Angler.

Anyway, you can check out a little video of a few of the smaller waves that I managed to catch with my waterproof point and shoot on youtube with this link ------>

Can't wait to get back out asap!!

    Thanks for listenin

  2. Hey everyone

I'm gonna be headin up to Nipissing for my 3rd annual ice fishing trip in february and this year I'm more in it for the fishing than the partying that it usually ends up being.

I've always just borrowed gear from people once I'm up there but I want to get my own set up now. Not sure really how to go about it or what's good/bad or really even what fish will be there to catch! I remember whitefish was pretty abundant last year but not too sure what else.

With christmas just around the corner I thought it would be a good time to make a list of gear to get and I figured here would be the best place to get advice so anything anyone can let me know of would be great!!

    Thanks everyone!

I'll be sure to post my prizes from the lake come February and I'll put up the gear I get after Xmas!

    Happy holidays!!

  3. Is there anybody here who fishes from a kayak?

I plan to fish from a kayak for brooks and lakers the next year.

Would like to read about your experience.

If you can, try and look up my past posts. Pretty much all I talked about last time I was on here was my new Hobie Pro Angler. VERY fun yak.

I posted a bunch of pics and told a bunch of descriptions of it.

    Check it out!!

Yak fishin has been my favourite way to go yet. If you're one that likes to get out and away from it all and enjoy the peace and quiet and tranquility by yourself then this is the way to go.

    Lemme know how it goes!

Go check out the Hobie website. http://www.hobiecat.com/fishing

I bought the Pro Angler just over a month ago and have been nothing short of ecstatic with it. The thing is a beast.

If you're in the market and want something that's specifically fishing oriented, this is the way to go as far as I'm concerned anyway. It's even got room behind the 'Captain's Chair' for a stubby lawn chair for someone else. I've taken three different people out on three different occasions with it and they all loved it.

    Here's a couple pics........I'm 6'1" btw

  6. Want to post a thanks to Ryan and his family for a great day of fishing and a wicked spread to fill my belly once it was done. And a big thanks to all the donators who supplied everyone who participated in the event with tonnes of swag. And thanks to all of us for raising approx. $4500!!!! That's probably the best part of the whole thing!

p.s. Ryan, my pledge forms are being scanned and sent your way via email as I post this right now! There's also an extra fifteen dollars here in pledge money that my mom had got for me after I had left so let me know if I can email money transfer it to you to get it sorted!

Next year will be a blast!

    Can't wait!!

  7. My Gran succumbed to cancer after battling for about three years and I would love to pledge some moolah for the cause. Plus gettin another day on the water sounds quite fantastic too!!

I just need to know how to go about it!

Also, I'm waiting on a msg back from Urban Fisherman to confirm that I'm registered for the day!

    Can't wait!

  8. Nice catch!!

Which 'Big Lake' was that out of?

I have yet to catch a trout or salmon and really really really wanna get one before this year's done!!

Don't even know how to go after them to be honest but you seem to know what you're doin

    Beautiful fish!

Great shot of that little fishin boat in front of that floating city btw!

    Haha
