  1. Thanks for the feedback all.

I brought the reel into a local shop and the guy mentioned he sees this problem often with the clutch bars. He actually had a bunch of other reels with the same problem waiting to be fixed.

The cost to fix it is $25 which is fair but it wont be ready for a month or so.

  2. Was out on the kawarthas last week using my Shimano Cardiff 401a baitcaster and during a retrieve my clutch bar would not engage.

I was able to press it down but when i tried reeling the clutch wouldnt engage and I wasnt able to reel in line. I opened the reel up and it looks like the clutch bar is not catching for some reason. I am able to freely turn the handles but line is not being reeled in.

Anyone run into this issue with this reel before and what did you guys do to fix it? I know its hard to understand the problem without actually seeing it but hopefully i explained it as best as I could.

    Thanks,

    Gary

  3. Went out this Saturday for a day of bassin at our favourite lake. It was a real hot sweltering day, the sun was out with no clouds and no wind.

We did quite well with both lm and sm. The bass were caught on texas rigged powerbaits, spinner baits and Yum dingers. Water was approx 72F and fish were caught at various depths, from 3fow to 17fow.

  4. Went up for our annual trip to the bush June 6-13. As usual it was awesome, we caught quite a number of walleye and pike. The walleye were on average larger than how we did last year however the Pike were not in the shallows yet and we did not raise anything of good quality.

Couldn't believe the bugs were not out the whole week we were there! Which made for a very comfortable week.

Flight out was delayed by 3-4 hours due to the weather. The ride was quite bumpy and was very close to using the good ole vomit bag. Didn't help that we wolfed down a foot long sub an hour prior to the flight.

  5. We were there on Saturday and Monday this past long weekend.

Both days we did well fishing the shallow bays for Pike. We were using red spinner baits, johnson silver minnows and in line mepps spinners. The pike were not the largest but the quantity was there. When we went last year same time we were blanked so dont feel so bad.

  6. great pics

especially nice color on those eyes//

is black a good color for eyes?

    lake looks like glass

    where abouts were u?

Actually the colour of the grub didnt really matter. I bought a tub of Gulp's and wanted to use them up on this trip.

We were on a lake off the Wekyakastik River near Moosebunks neighbourhood.

  7. Awesome pics. :clapping::worthy: How many pickerel a day would you catch?

I would approximate we caught a little over 200 Pike and Pickerel between 2 guys over the week. It was a new lake they opened up a couple years back and it held a lot of fish. We had access to 3 other lakes but the main lake was good enough.

It was my first time up in this area of Ontario and we are hooked.

  8. Went on our annual trip to northern Ontario in mid June. The fishing was very good for Walleye and Pike. The water level was much higher compared to previous years due to the longer winter we had. The bugs were quite bad when we went up but after a few days of not showering they seemed to leave us alone.

Most Walleyes were caught with a jig and plastic and the Pike were caught on long crankbaits/spinnerbaits and topwater.

  9. We were at Rice for 3 days last weekend. We did well with green Jig with pigs fishing very slowly in and around Sugar Bush Island. One of us even caught a Musky on the jig and pig.

For small mouth we did well with ribbed tube jigs around grasshopper and margaret island.

Good luck. the weather looks like it will be really nice.

  10. Thanks for the phone number doug. I called them and they do not have a secluded site.

I took the family to Algonquin a couple years ago and was hoping for a change of scenery.

Will keep looking to see where I can find another site.

    Tks

  11. Want to take the family camping for this long weekend.

Are there any campsites at Silent Lake that you have to canoe to? We are looking for a campsite to ourselves, hence the canoeing.

If not do any of you know a good place to camp where you canoe out to your own site and has decent fishing?

    Tks

  12. I was a little southeast of the park on the whitefish lake/manitowik lake system. Almost all our pike were caught on live bait. Large minnows were what caught them. Most of the walleye were also caught on live bait (leeches and worms on a harness).

Enjoy your trip, the scenery up there is beautiful.

  13. Fellas,

Any of you fished up in Hawk Junction? Our fishing group of 4 is thinking of going up to a lodge this June. Lodge recommendations?

Hows the fishing up there. It would be our first time up there. We have gone to the Gowganda/Gogoma area for the last 7 years and are thinking of a change.

    Thanks,
