  1. cool, thanks. darn it, now i got the urge to try the mouth of the credit tomorrow morning...
  2. i have that same rod I think...berkly lightning rod 8.5ft? how'd it hold up, all I've caught with mine is carp
  3. I'm on the west side of clear, very close to the sailing club. I don't have a fishfinder either, I feel your pain.
  4. just a short report. The weather really hampered my efforts to get out on the boat, so i ended up doing a bunch of yardwork. I was able to cast off the dock a bit on a couple days with NO luck. Well, I had one strike on a topwater (i think a muskie, but couldnt be sure) on monday, then nothing the rest of the week. This morning was nice and calm so I started throwing another topwater crankbait while everyone else was still sleeping. Sure enough my PB smallie slurped it in. Landed it, measured it at 19.25", took some pics and let it swim away for another day. Not huge by most standards, but it made me pretty happy. Pics to follow.
  5. I've heard flouro is a bit stiffer and prone to tangling than mono. Personally I just use it as a leader on braids.
  6. I thought the camera was supposed to add 10 lbs? I can only think that his scale had an old, weak spring in it. Good on him for the release though.
  7. thanks for the responses
  8. that happened in an underground? that sucks...I usually think of my underground parking as safer than above ground. I leave tonnes of gear in my car in plain sight when i'm in my lot. Check that, I USED to keep lots of gear in my car. Not any more.
  9. I decided to get away from all this Lake O. tributary drama and head up to my usual summer stomping grounds next monday. I still haven't caught a muskie or decent walleye this year. Was wondering if anyone was having luck on stony/ clear lately? Thanks in advance!
  10. so... how bout them jays?!
  11. yeah, i ended up ordering one of the spinning reels. i'm 'reel'y getting addicted to gear.
  12. yeah, i guess that is pretty big...
  13. good for you!
  14. what type of fish is that first one? edit: nevermind I see it now
  15. the angler activity sure has picked up. i went for a look at erindale park and must have seen 50-60 people just from where the bridge is. actually saw a guy reel in a pretty sizeable fish too. no one else seemed to be having luck. not sure how the river mouth was.
  16. by and large people just don't leave enough space.
  17. we need a barf smiley
  18. For the win!
  19. the phrase 'put up, or shut up' comes to mind.
  20. i had a close call with a swan last week at cooksville creek. a young swan actually grabbed my line and spun around, wrapping the line around its neck. I was pretty much at a loss as to what to do. It was one of three younger swans and the parents were nearby becoming real aggitated. luckily it got itself loose once i gave it a bunch of slack.
  21. well i went this weekend and got a baitcaster combo for about a hundred, picked up some other tackle and got my better half her own rod/reel and tackle box. Still got a bit left for the next time i go back. I took a look at the results of that contest. There where like 4-5 people with zero votes as secondary winners?! I guess it had to do with their cable provider. http://www.wfn.tv/adopt/ Anyway I'm loving the baitcaster. Only a couple small birdsnests so far. i was expecting a lot more during the learning phase.
  22. could not agree more!
  23. friend landed a 42" muskie on a 5" gulp leech last year. not a senko, but same sized plastic, texas rigged. Come to think of it I think it was just about this time of year as well.
  24. i just thought the name was funny. hey how were you fishing those crayfish? noticed the slowdeath style hook. You just split shot the line?
