Cant wait till 12, to try for some lindsay walleye, lower river opens for fishing!

Next week ill be spending a few days in collingwood, I was wondering what i can catch and where i can fish this time of year from shore. I heard bever river, but is anything running? and how can i catch them without a fly rod if they are?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if im allowed to fish for crappie in the scugog river starting saturday, A ways above the damm in lindsay on river road.
