  1. It is a five fish limit. Bass & walleye combo. Most walleye weighed in get donated for the dinner but trust me the dinner alone is worth fishing this event. Great time had by all.
  2. Can you name last year's 2nd place finisher's at the 2nd Sucks tournament on Rice Lake? The honour of cleaning donated walleye for everyone's dinner is awarded to the 2nd place team. 1st is great, third is nice but 2nd SUCKS.
  3. Sucks when they completely ignore the fact that they continue to interfere with Ron's lawful fishing activities. Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997 S.O. 1997, CHAPTER 41 Obstruction of hunting, trapping or fishing 13. (1) A person shall not interfere with lawful hunting, trapping or fishing by, (a) tampering with traps, nets, bait, firearms or any other thing used for hunting, trapping or fishing; B placing himself or herself in a position, for the purpose of interfering, that hinders or prevents hunting, trapping or fishing; or © engaging in an activity, for the purpose of interfering, that disturbs or is likely to disturb wildlife or fish. Of course what is the defintion of Institutional harassment? Wikipedia:Harassment Quote "A key feature is that the harassing agent's actions are persistent and unwanted, misleading, or the agent demands are unreasonable, such as losing submitted documents by the subject, asking for unreasonable amounts of paperwork, making the subject carry out bureaucratic activities for no cause." Seems to me that the MNR would be responsible for enforcing the Fish and Wildlife Act on this issue. The town has apologized but this is the third ticket on the same issue. The Cobourg Harbour is a provincial waterway and harassment in this case is the by-law officers repeated mis-application of the by-law. Maybe the town should educate their officers on proper application of the by-laws to ensure their due dilligence on this issue. Of course Ron has the option of a civil suit on this issue which has caused him lost time from work, public embarassment and unneeded bureaucratic activities for no cause as a direct result of the actions of the town and their representatives. Just an uneducated guess of course...
  4. We had a report that a Rice Lake Festival tagged fish was caught and released by an angler who was not registered. (He is now ) Still lots of tagged fish out there waiting for you to catch. If your looking for a fun day with the family plan to attend the Rice Lake Fishing Festival Kids day on June 2 from 10-2 in the Bewdley town park. Free tackle provided if required, lots of prizes for the kids and a few professional anglers on hand to help the kids land some fish. If your in the area we would love to have you and your family join the fun. If your looking for a good spot to land a tagged fish this spring check this video tip. Good Luck!
  5. If your spending some time on Rice Lake this spring looking for tagged fish, check this video out. Get your Rice Lake Fishing Festival Perks card and catch some great prizes. Good Luck!
  6. Perfectly legal and fairly closely monitored. Some of the fish are legal commercially caught fish from Ontario waters, so I guess "wild" is from those fish or just for marketing purposes. I personally don't agree with the sale of live panfish as some are considered invasive but it is legal and they are doing nothing wrong.
  7. Mine is done. I wonder if they will know it's me by my responses... Great work Ron.
  8. Big media attention gains quicker responses. Nice job David.
  9. My response to these issues is always the same. Can I walk a dog here, ride a bike, fly a kite? If so, than why are anglers being discriminated against. If you selectively choose to eliminate one user group without reason then you are discriminating against that group. The fancy boats face no more or less risk than allowing other people to access the area. Walkers might steal your fancy boat. Dogs might bite the boat owners. Why does the theory only apply to anglers? The only way to remove these laws is to challenge them. Good for you David, to bring this issue forward to the press.
  10. A fun day today at the fish lift. 200 adult rainbows lifted over the dam and the pool below was still full of fish. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out. http://ontariooutdooradventure.blogspot.ca/2012/03/spring-rituals.html
  11. I just want to take a minute to thank all the volunteers who helped out at the Bridgenorth Panfish Festival this past Saturday on Chemong Lake. With the help of our 77 volunteers we were able to welcome a record attendance for the event. Over 1000 people enjoyed a free family fun day outside ice fishing. Every kid got a prize and even some of the adults. A fun day was had by all and lots of fish were caught. On behalf of the families that enjoyed a great day on the ice, thank you volunteers. This is a picture of OFC member Ron towing in some of the Frabill village at the end of the day. Lot's of "first fish" caught in those huts at the event. Here is a link to the Peterborough Examiner article about the festival. http://www.thepeterboroughexaminer.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3476953
  12. Slush? I was out yesterday and we have 16-18 inches of solid ice in the bay where we fish. No slush at all. The weather is looking good also, with a sunny high of 0 and 15kmh wind. It should be a great day.
  13. We filmed a segment for the 5 O'Clock show on Chex Tv for the Bridgenorth Panfish Festival which aired today. It was good to get out on the ice with some youth anglers again. Good warm up for the 1000 or so kids we are expecting on Saturday. I'm not sure how to edit these clips down or if it's possible but here are the links for the show. http://www.chextv.com/Watch/NW530/12-02-15/The_5_O_clock_Show_-_Wednesday_Feb_15_2012_Part_1_of_2.aspx http://www.chextv.com/Watch/NW530/12-02-15/The_5_O_clock_Show_-_Wednesday_Feb_15_2012_Part_2_of_2.aspx
  14. Oh I wouldn't worry too much about who's coming Ron. My phone has been ringing non-stop for the last week. We are looking forward to a great day on the ice with lots of families and friends.
  15. Hi Ron. We can always count on our great volunteers to make this a fun family day fishing on Chemong Lake. Every year dozens of people, young and old catch their first ever fish at this family day and learn the joy of spending quality family time outdoors enjoying ice fishing together. Meet skilled anglers from the Kawartha chapter of Muskies Canada, Ontario Chinese Anglers Association and even the famous OFC member Ron. We have been receiving lots of calls about the Bridgenorth Panfish Festival. Yes we are going ahead with everything planned. The ice conditions are very good with 15 inches of ice in the bay we fish. Weather is calling for -1 and sunny periods with tons of fish, family fun and smiles on Chemong Lake. This year as part of the Panfish Festival, activities will be going on inside at the OFAH Hertitage Center in Peterborough for more family fun. This is a great chance to see the cool facility and it's exhibits for free. Maybe you will win a guided panfish trip for two with professional angler Chris Giles, or a night in an ice condo from BJ Tackle, a new ice hut from Frabill, rod/reel combos and clothing from Shimano, tackle boxes from Bridgenorth Sports, oil changes from Currie Tire, prizes from Lucky Strike, Canadian Tire, OFAH, Ontario Power Generation and many others who support this fun festival. Not many places you can spend a free day with the family and have a chance to win great prizes. Our sponsors are great supporters of youth angling and family fun. They support the angling community, we should support them. Feb 18, 2012 10am - 2 pm Free for everyone, tackle, holes and bait provided Free prizes for youth and adults Check the website for more details http://www.bridgenorthpanfishfestival.com/
  16. I have been enjoying some great action this winter and took a couple of videos, catching a quick perch lunch on Rice Lake. http://www.youtube.com/RiceLakeFishingFest
  17. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on some of the new "ice tubes" from Bass Magnet Lures and I think they have hit a home run. The perch on Rice Lake destroyed these tubes all day. I wrote a blog about my day and the magic lure. http://ontariooutdooradventure.blogspot.com/2012/01/magic-lure-found.html
  18. Same lake Three Mile Lake and it certainly has ciscos, I normally call them herring, but the lake does have a good population of them. They are not commonly caught by walleye anglers but we used to catch huge ciscos in the fall in the deeper arm of the lake.
  19. Three Mile does have walleye plus bass, panfish and herring. Depending on which are of the lake you staying will make a difference in where you fish.

  21. Thanks Guys. http://ontariooutdooradventure.blogspot.com/2012/01/taking-good-fish-photos.html I'm off to the Dominican Republic for some saltwater fishing so the Ontario Outdoor adventure blog may contain some offshore saltwater info soon.
  22. I have started a blog. I'm not sure why, I just felt the need to jump full into the social media. http://ontariooutdooradventure.blogspot.com/ Does anyone else on OFC blog about topics, fishing or otherwise? Good excuse to research topics that I find interesting and write about them. If nothing else I might expand a few into full articles and get back into outdoor writing. For some reason the edit program will not let me type O F N. Changes to OFC.
  23. Your right Bob. I have little experience in safety, ice fishing or fishing in general. Plus my opinions are clouded by running fishing festivals for families. Sorry.
  24. Pretty sure I responded to your first shot at me Bob. Reply button is not mandatory. Stay off the ice or open water, wear a seat belt, life jacket, helmet and have 911 on speed dial. Don't trust your experience or common sense. Be safe. I'm done, moving on to another topic. Feel free to lock this post so as not to offend anyone else.
  25. Everyone has different comfort levels. I think I posted a few times that caution should be used. I have no problem with 4 inches of solid black ice. I have a fairly good handle on my safety but you should stay home until you have 24 inches IMHO.
