  1. Doesn't matter what nationality the poachers are. I'm just glad they got caught. I hope they lose their fishing licenses permanently if they get caught again, which I doubt will take long. Guys like this don't learn their lesson easily. They have nerve going out there the next day and doing the same thing.
  2. Very nice colours on those trout. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Hope everyone got through the storm without injuries. You're a good man Cliff. If I was in the market for a cottage/home on the lake, I'd scoop the place next door to you in a heartbeat.
  4. Nice looking ski. Thanks for the report and data. You'll need to look at several trips, or even a whole season, to see if a pattern exists. Hopefully, your findings will lead to more productive and selective fishing days. Good luck !
  5. MICE !!! Set the traps regularly Wayne ! If they get in the boat, they'll destroy your seats/carpet, pfd's, rags or any other material suitable for a nest. Might even make the nest in the seat itself. My neighbour has a 19 ft. glass boat that was damaged by racoons over the winter. It has a full top (snap on) + other tarps over that. They still got in. He spent $3500 to re-upholster the seats and replace the carpeting. I had a pair of coveralls hanging in the garage. Momma made a nest out of one pocket. Lots of small holes where they chewed the material.
  6. Ted Rogers is still screwing us from the grave.
  7. Nice pike. Congrats !!!
  8. Competition for BPS. Hopefully, this translates into lower prices for anglers and hunters.
  9. I haven't fished Red Cedar for a few years, but the water levels are up in most lakes. Look for walleye around river mouths. Trolling at dusk caught a few fish for some other anglers that were staying in the cabin next door. As far as black flies.......damp/wet spring = lots of black flies and mosquitoes. I have a couple of friends with cottages in Haliburton/Muskoka. One of them was up at his place about a week ago and said the black flies were really bad. Not surprising.
  10. Good job Ron. Keep up the fight !!!
  11. Canada could probably support a few NHL teams. Definitely more fans coming out to games than the southern U.S. I'd love to see more Canadian teams in the NHL. The best thing for the NHL would be to get rid of Bettman and put a Canuck in charge.
  12. Sad news. He was always one of my favourite wrestlers.
  13. The NDP results scare me too Terry, but as already mentioned, they kicked the Bloc out of Quebec. That was a huge step towards stability. The Bloc no longer have party status and don't qualify for funding. The Conservative win was no surprise, but whether or not they got the majority was the question. The opposition parties forced an unnecessary election, spent hundreds of millions of dollars (our money) and in the end, 2 of the 3 were punished severely by the voters by giving the Conservatives a majority and NDP official opposition status. I love it !!!..........well, all except the money spent on the election.
  14. 3 sections of 8 x 6 ft. wood fence is laying on the neighbours lawn. Gobblers are safe for a few more days since I'll be busy.
  15. Nice pics Joey. Not sure about the bird I.D.
  16. Looks great ! Another OFC Community team effort.
  17. Could have been one that got away from a hunter (bad shot). Nice find.
  18. I'm assuming this is the kit to convert your current toungue and coupler to a folding model ? I remember seeing them on one of the boat trailers at the outdoor show (International Centre, Mississauga), but I can't remember which dealer it was that had them. Try Central Outboard and Marine in Markham, ON I just talked to them and they do carry them. You'll have to give them the width of the trailer tongue & coupler size as well I guess. Good luck !!!
  19. My condolences.
  20. AGREED !!!
  21. We had dinner with some friends by candlelight. The kids thought it was pretty neat. Dinner was at their house, so I made sure to turn everything off at home before leaving. Also turned down the temp. on the furnace. My hot water tank is always set as low as possible. (just warm enough for showers) We don't turn on light outside unless we're expecting someone. The kids kept leaving the 2nd floor hall light on when they go to bed. Easy solution. I unscrewed the bulbs a couple of years ago and we haven't missed the extra lighting at all.
  22. With the exception of a trout that may be injured & won't survive (rare), I practice catch & release on L.Ontario. Anything that's good for the fishery is O.K. with me. An idea to help the spawning fish would be extending the closed season by a week or two.
