Nope - These are all Steelhead.

WOW - Nice Crappie!
Im a bit jealous simply because we wont see those water temps for another 2 months. I see you must be fishing in Alabama.
-
Check out this serious Great Lakes (Erie) Steelhead run. WOW
Also - Has anybody been Steelhead fishing in NY? Its a phenomenal year.

Take him to a lodge or fly-in for some together time.
That is a great thought! Thanks. Maybe grab my brothers and go up for a 4-day - 3 night on Lac Seul. I could get the Musky/Walleye master Ben Beattie to guide our trip.

First and foremost, congratulations to your father for his well earned retirement
Taking him out for supper is a good start and I'm sure he will enjoy it.
You mention that the company he worked for will be honoring him at a large scale party.... write up a nice speech for him with details of his evolution throughout the years that he worked there and be the one to be the speaker at his reception.
Not an easy task to do but I'm sure that he would be very proud of you.
Next I would tell him that he is invited to join you and your family to a place of your choice, it be fishing, camping, touring etc....
After 42 years of working for the same company, your dad deserve the very best and I know you will make it happen for him.

Leechamn your awesome! Well said. Advise will be taken.

There'd be no bigger gift than a big hug and a thanks for all you've done for "me" statement
I know I owe that, and much more to my pop and mudder.
Anyhting else, is material.
Trust me,I know what Im talking about here.
Thanks Wayne for saying that.
Excellent!!! And he is the type of father that would rather have that.
Thanks

Why don't you sign over the title to that boat you've been trying to sell?
Hahahaa - That would do it. He does love that boat

My Father retired after 42 Years at Eastman Kodak Company. I am so proud of him. He has several patents and provided wonderfully for my mother and 2 brothers.
Any gift ideas for such a remarkable accomplishment? My wife and I (kids) are taking him out to eat tonight to celebrate. However, His company is putting on a large scale party in which I feel my wife and I should do something.

Well, There is a date - US combat in Iraq to end by Aug. 31, 2010? Agree? Disagree?
-
Very Nice - Did that 1.5 and 3.5 years ago - Wouldn't trade it for nothing.
Congrats to both you and your wife.
Question. Will your wife still let you fish?
-
Ponch!

Fantastic... I would be interested

Has the OFC members ever organized a group fishing trip or tournament? Looking at the dedicated members of this forum, I'm sure either would be a success.

Raw shrimp works for steelhead to!
Does it really? I have to give that a shot
-
I was afraid to open the post. Look at the head on this thing
Glad to see it was only a fish
-
OK - I have a carp / Catfish bait that works in every lake, pond, river etc.
Its a little expensive but works. Buy a dozen RAW shrimp and a jar of chopped garlic and oil. Take another jar and mix the shrimp and garlic oil togather and put in the refrigerator until used. When you go fishing, Remove the shrimp with a fork and put them in a baggie. Sprinkle a good amount of garlic salt on them and your off.
Im telling you, It works like an absolute charm. The catfish are addicted to this and so are the carp.

Thanks Mike!
I've also seen that video and read the story quite a few times. Don't make the "choking up" any less just the same. A great story, but tough to watch without feeling something.
I with you on that.
-
Oh man that was one tough video for me to watch. The love and courage this dad has for his son is incredible.

Leechman - I hope your doing ok under your situation. I lost my father-in-law a few years so our family went through those hard times as well. This is a good time to surround yourself around friends and family to share those good times.
Were all thinking of ya man!!!
Best,
Mike

Roy - Yeah, I had it sent to me and it was on another playback - Google I think.
Love it!
