That's ridiculous. I will be calling my MP's office in the morning!

That's the reality of enforcement type jobs. The public is never happy, and the guy doing the job is ALWAYS the bad guy. Such is life I suppose.

Flex coat lite formula rod wrapping finish...as cork sealer???
porkpie replied to buick14's topic in General Discussion
I used some thompsons on a rod 20 years ago, it's held up great! -
Skunks breed in February and march.

Did kitchener have lots? It's a bit of a haul, but I might just do it. Price is great!

LOL, well that pretty much settles it then! My bill is pretty high, and if it's paying for their gas to ice fish, turn em in with my compliments!!!!

It's fine to post it, but I would also make an inquiry as to wether that truck was there servicing lines on an island, or in the bush somewhere on company owned sleds, or if they where indeed misusing company property. It is pretty common for a utility to use ATV's or sleds to access lines in areas that are remote or inaccessible any other way. If the vehicle is not being used for company business, that is really ballsy and they need to be dealt with anyway!

There is only 3 ways I'm killing a fish, 1) it's an invasive species, 2) I'm hungry, and want fish for dinner and 3) it's an all tackle world record. Line class, tip up record, bamboo stick and string record? Couldn't be bothered! A stuffed fish on my wall has never been my thing. I can't say I'm for stringing this guy up by his feet though. Sure, he has done wrong, give him the ticket and call it a day!

You did well, very well! I bought my F150 screw for 31k out the door in 2010, at that time I couldn't get a decent used one with low k for less than 26k. It was a no brainer to buy the new one. I do agree that a full size is the way to go for towing, but they are a b@@@stard on gas otherwise!
-
You can add all of the aftermarket towing gear no problem, don't worry about that! I would always go 4x4 though, it is one of those things where if you need it, you really need it. There are a few hairy launch ramps that I might not have made it out of without 4x4. No input on the type of vehicle, I've only ever had pickup trucks or Japanese SUV's.

Chartreuse. I own Big O's in most sizes and colors, but the chartreuse is the number one producer for me. All of them are decent though, the fish just love that tight little wiggle!
-
Anything with an 8 inch touch screen is my dream finder, but realistically what I have is quite satisfactory. I plan to add either a Minn Kota ipilot or motorguide pinpoint this year, so who knows where that may lead me!

Big O's are an amazing lure. Funny you should mention it, I got my first big O off of a snag when I was wading a river for smallmouth when I was 14 or 15, It was a chartreuse big O, and I still have that lure today. It is one that has never been sacrificed to the fish gods (by me anyway). I now have a box full of them! They are probably my number 1 bass crank, and I have inadvertently landed many pickerel, musky, crappie etc. on them as well!

I'd have to dig around and pull some out, but if memory serves they come with an internal rattle, and a couple of VMC jig heads. It was a great deal at the time, but boy do I have crawfish!!!
-
For soft plastics, I bought a bin full of storm craws about 7-8 years ago for a buck or so a pack. They work great, and I think I'll be handing them down to my kids... LOL

I love shimano gear and own many of their reels, however I have numerous diawas and have never had an issue. I have a 1300 and a 700 that have way more fish than they should be rightfully entitled to, and both have had only the barest essential maintenance with 0 failures. Diawa builds good gear!! Over all the years I have been fishing, I have had only 2 major failures, 1 diawa, 1 shimano. I know a couple of guys personally that have had pfluegers fail within a year of purchase, one buddy having had several issues with a couple of reels and read of many more failures online. I stay away from pfluegers, but your mileage may vary. Diawa or shimano, you can't go wrong. And while a little bit dated, I believe the 1300/700 line of diawas are quite possibly the most bullet proof reels around! If I wanted something from shimano, I'd add a few more dollars to your budget and get a stradic. I own 3 and they are all very solid!

Lots of ice, but some deep slush beds for the bikes and sleds. Walking conditions are getting pretty good, and will be better still in a day or 2. A lot of the snow has been knocked down.

My buddy has one, and i have the 597 with down imaging. we use them on the boat and on the ice. Very used friendly, and the mapping functions are excellent! Good score, enjoy!

While I am not a user, I have seen everything from pike to chinook salmon hooked on a banjo minnow. They where a goofy gimmick item that actually worked LOL!
-
I hear ya, I won't hardly part with $10 a lure for standard plugs, $20 is a big stretch, but if something really caught my eye I suppose I'd do it, but not a bass lure, bass is a budget affair, they will eat just about anything in my experience!

Rod recommendations for pitching jerkbaits.
porkpie replied to Mike Pike's topic in General Discussion
I have both those rods, I like them both. I use the 7'6" for tossing husky jerks and x raps but the 7 is a touch softer and I use it for small jerks etc. great rods, very multi purpose!
