  1. So Stupid me.  I was using a 20 v cordless dewalt drill trying to cut a 6" hole in 24 ga steel.  The hole saw caught, my hand twisted and i snapped a tiny tendon in my left thumb.  Diagnosis - arthritic thumb.  Pain every time i use it.  Sugery might help no guarantees.

So buy the plate attachment.  Dont use a small drill on a big hole.

  2. Some people use plastic cutting-board type material on their hulls to install transducers so they don't have to drill/screw trough their hull.

I'm looking for some of this material, but just a larger size, maybe a foot square. It needs to support a bit of weight, maybe 10 pounds in a hortizontal fasion, so it needs to be able to hold screws reasonably well.

I was thinking of just maybe buying 2 cutting boards and using PL premium or silicone to laminate them together, but thought there must be some type of material available for this purpose.

Anyone seen something - trying to stay 100% away from wood-based product.

  3. Hi Rob.

Shocks do not change ride height. They are designed to absorb the energy of hitting a bump and reducing spring bounce.

There are air shocks that you can add air pressure to adjust ride height but air bags last better.

There are also several bolt on rubber stops that work very well, are inexpensive and easy to install.

They only contact the spring when there is a load on your pickup so it wont affect your ride unloaded..

Good automotive aftermarket shops should have some makes to choose from for you.

Just remembered the name of the ones I put on...... Timbren ...They work very well.

I had timbrens installed on my 93 Dakota that carried around a ton of tools. They kept it up and stable. Highly recommended

  4. Bought my first baitcasting outfit today at the sportsman show. Wasn't a much better deal than I would have got somewhere else, but it was a little bit. I bought a Quantum PT Energy rod and a Quantum PT Catalyst reel with burner gears for around $240. The good part about it, besides finally having my first set up, was that by buying a Quantum PT combo, I took my receipt to the Quantum booth and they gave me a free PT hat and 6 free sexy shads! I figure that was worth an extra $35 in itself.

All in all, it was a good day at the show. The worst part was the walk between buildings, which the kids were not too happy about. I also hooked my wife up with her first rod and reel, and my boy also bought a new rod and reel. He is stepping up just like I did at his age, he bought himself a nice M/L 6' Ugly Stick and a Quantum snapshot 10 series reel. Should be perfect for him for our crappie and bass outings.

Ended up spending way too much on the day, almost $700 by the time I bought all the gear, paid to get in and took the family to Tuckers Marketplace for dinner on the way home, but it was all worth it to see the smiles on my kids faces when the day was done. Can't wait to get out tomorrow morning and try our luck!
