Word of caution when you buy the carbonlight. I brought one home and noticed there was as crack somewhere in the rod. You could not see it but if you dropped the rod about 6" vertically on its butt end you could hear something was not right. Also you can flick the rod with your finger hitting it with your nail about halfway up the blank and you could hear it was cracked somewhere. I returned it and tested a bunch off the rack and at 3 had the distinct cracked sound. So be carefull when you are picking one out. I dont think its the rods fault but you can imagine how many times each one is handled in the store. Did find one i was satisfied with and will ry it this spring on pike. 7' ML Casting model.

120' is within recreational scuba range (max130') but you are right they would need specialized cold water gear to get down there and do it safely.

With all the new hightech epoxies out there today you figure someone would start gluing in the supports??? I had to weld two spots on my Fisher and has held nicely for the last 5yrs.

I bought one of the premiers when they were on sale at BPS last spring. Broke the tip on my second trip this yr. I find the best ice rods are the cheap crappy tire/walmart specials.

Good point. As they are islands, the other side is all deep water where they have docks and boats. It would mean they would need to find another access point and boat over.

South-East Georgian Bay

I hope some of the fine folks on this site who have direct links to the MNR/Oceans and Fisheries may be able to help me out or offer some educated suggestions. A freinds property is next to a few island owners that park near shore and get to and from their islands. The area is a Marsh that has no more 12" of water and islands are about 100meters from shore. The marsh is not his but part of main body of water and definatly a navigable right of way. Their method of access has been Argos for the past 10yrs or so and basically they have created paths about 2 argos wide to these islands. The marsh bed is completely tore up as well as all plant life. If i check google earth views the damage is huge. This area is a huge spawning ground for Muskeys, Pike, Largemouth, Carp and numerous panfish. Not to mention Migratory Birds. Does anyone know what legistation this falls under? How do we get anyone to visit the site and see the damage for themselves? Who ever they speak to, basically receive unsatisfactory answers or its not their responsibility. Any advice would be appreciated, you can PM as well. Thanks...

As Lew allready stated I would first check the pedal board. Possibly swap with someone if you have access. I have gone threw 2 of the boards in the past 10 years. Fixed it once just due to mud and grime got in there so worth taking apart. Dont remember exactly but replacement was roughly 80-90. Let us know how you make out.

I have the same motor yr and hp you are talking about. I purchased second hand and was hesitantg as you until i did some research. The "blowing up" is only on the 150 and up motors. Do some research yourself on sites like iboats.com and you can see for yourself. This has been my best outboard yet but I do work on my own toys so maintenance is allways done. If you do get it, purchase the scanning connection cable and take your laptop with you before you buy and you will see the true hr's of the motor or any trouble codes the computer has thrown. Worth the 50 bucks and you can find them on ebay from a guy that sells them out of Kingston or Belleville (its been awhile)

I'm with Lew on this. My 99 Evinrude 90hp 2-stroke has one built in so I dont see why you wouldn't want a water seperator.

I've had it for 2 yrs and no complaints. Received itas an upgrade as my lower end Lowrance stopped working after a month of use, they didnt have my model in stock so gave me the better unit. I never bothered using the FM function as have another unit for the tunes. I like the larger screen over the lower end unit but over all its quit larger, luckily I had the extra room to mount it. i dont think you can go wrong with any Lowrance product and there after purchase experience is the best I have ever seen from any manufacturer. I'm comparing that to Humminbird who never even returned my emails/calls once i mentioned a had a problem with one of their units. Stick to Lowrance in my opinion....
