  1. Im going to Caesars myself on the 17th. This year were actually flying from Gilbert Lake which is damn near as far as you can go by truck anyway. You can certainly drive the full route. You end up at a dock and unless you call ahead from the little restaurnat on Clova road about halfway in you may end up waiting for the barge to pick you up. We ended up having to start one of the boats there and drove it to the liodge and one of the helpers came and picked us up. The road is nasty, but a four wheeler is fine. Good time to check out the sites, we almost always run across a bear or two on the way in. Logging trcuks can be a hazard for the first half of the road trip in but just pay attention, If theres miore than one vehicle in your party, stay well back especiallly if the road is dry, The dust is a killer. If youre bringing eggs, be sure to pack them carefully, the first time we went in we endeup up with a cooler full of goo! Wasnt pretty. We are flying out for the first three nights and back to the main lodge for the Friday and Saturday night. If the weather is like now, the trout fishing will be very slow as they will pool up in the deeper sections of the lake. Walleye on the other hand should be very active!!!! Any other questions just ask
  2. Driving is certainly possible and ive done it three times with a Silverado ext cab 4x4. It is slow going for the last hour and logging trucks can make for exciting blind corners. If its a wet spring you will definately be in for a slow long run in. Be aware of washouts, and bring a spare tire, and a kidney belt wouldnt hurt either lol. Were back again June 17 but are getting picked up at Gilbert Lake this year. Last hour of the drive can be interesting, we ususally see bears along the way. The Lodge is under new ownership the last two seasons and as before, still in the Brossard family who always aim to make your stay enjoyable. The early owner and the one and only Crazy George is one of the most interesting down to earth guys ive ever had the pleasure to meet.... even let me fly his plane . Always look forward to Caesars, this year is no different!
  3. I lived on Lake Huron till i was 24 and fished the rivers constantly. Though i never made the trout opener this year i have in past years. Most rivers are full of rainbows in spring and more importantly, hardly a fisherman to be seen! My favorite creek holds rainbows in spring, hungry smallmouths in summer, giant Chinooks in the fall and more recently HUGE brown trout in fall as well.( ive caught them in excess of 10 lbs in early September) .My favorite creek is too small to boat even in spring but the lack of fishermen more than makes up for that!
