  1. Hi guys, thanks for helping. I already have a jig head but I'm hesitant to use it for the following reasons: 1) The hook on it is pretty big. Much bigger than my smallest hook. I think it is too big for panfish. 2) I dont think that the jig head is heavy enough to hold down a bobber. Multiple split shots are heavier. What are the advantages of a jig head over a hook and a split shot?
  2. Oh guys, what sized hook should I use?
  3. 1) What length should I set the bobber to to catch small fish? 2) is a worm on a hook good enough? right now I have a hook, bobber and 2 split shots. i cant catch any fish any tips?
  4. I plan on going shore fishing at 50 point Conservation area in Hamilton, ON. 1) Will I catch anything? Is this a good time to catch crappie? I heard that the water might be too cold for fish. Please let me know if this applies to crappie. 2) Any good locations at 50 point to fish? 3) anything else I need to know? I am very new to fishing so tips and advice are greatly appreciated! Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!
  5. I know that this $10 wont get the job done. Just that I HATE line tangles and think of this as my "disposable rod" I have several other rods/reels but I broke them
  6. I have a Spincast Ready2Fish Spincast set. Looks like this? Is this any good for a beginner or should I get a better one, and why? thank you
  7. I went fishing at bayfront park in hamilton and i couldnt see a single fish in the water near shore. NOT EVEN A ROUND GOBY! needless to say, i didnt catch nothing either. I always hear that you guys say that spring is a great time for shore fishing. What am I doing wrong? When do the fish come out?
  8. First of all, hi everybody! I'm a 16-year-old living in Hamilton, ON right now and I want to fish. I have never fished seriously in my life but I have been fishing for several years. I mostly catch easy fish like perch, carp, catfish and panfish. I have the following questions: 1) It's very hard catch anything except round gobies in Hamilton Harbour! What do I do? 2) I have a $10 spincast fishing set from Wal-Mart which includes a hooks, fake baits, pre-threaded line, a 4.5' rod, and some small weights. Thoughts of this? 3) Any good fishing spots near Hamilton Mountain? 4) Should I eat the panfish I catch. I know that technically, fish from hamilton harbour is safe in limited amounts, but if you were me, Would you eat small fish from Hamilton Harbour?? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks all!
