I am from Stratford

I am new to fishing on the great lakes for salmon. I was out on lake huron this weekend and out about 3-4 miles, fishing in depths from 15' to 30'. I have a fairly good size selection of spoons and plugs but I didn't have any luck. I was told that I didn't need to use flashers with this selection of lures. Can anyone offer me some tips on what I should be doing. Sorry for the vague question
