nothing wrong with that. A lot of companies make reels with the same design with their own name including bluewater reels. Daiwa, quantum, and shimano use the same design concept, and I would wager all the reel manufacturers have an equivalent at this point, especially in the low profile models. The only thing i wouldn't do is use a burner ratio on heavier lures or lures hard pulling action unless you don't mind occasionally replacing the pinion and drive gears.

Where i'm from, it was very common and it was just to announce your successful hunt. Kinda like beeping horns and dragging cans after a wedding. Obviously, it was done with a fresh kill in my town, not an old mounted animal. This might be appropriate after some marriages too.

use any NiMH charger. time will depend on the charger. I should say the Sanyo of this type can use anything. i'll be the panasonics can too.

Most of Canada's electricity production comes from hydroelectric sources which might be the reason we call it hydro. There are a few provinces that generate almost all of their power from coal. Actually, coal fired plants still, to this day, produces more of the world's electricity than anything else by a huge margin. just under 1/2 of the world's electric power came from coal the last time i saw. I wonder what electricity bills are called in other countries. ...and now i wonder if saskatchewan and alberta call their electric bills "the hydro bill" because they burn coal (and natural gas) for almost all of their power.

probably volume purchasing power. lebaron and bps only sell sporting goods and likely moves a ton more of any single product than ctc could. There's a discount on that reel at all-american . I don't know how much it is because i dind't click through to checkout

I don't know how old it is, but it's new to me. cool idea. It looks like the planer pulls pretty hard side angles. There are 2 videos on the left menu, one showing him navigate around and in between 2 round weed pockets. It's an interesting toy but i sure it affects your level of control over lure action. It would be good for dragging bait around weedlines. http://www.bulletbobber.com/shorefishing.html

can't force a kid to like what you like. How many kids do you know of who were forced to take piano lessons and how many still play after highschool? As much as a parent wants to see their kids head on a certain direction in life, eventually that child must be allowed to choose his own path. If not, we would all still be hunters and farmers living off the land in a little log cabin.

I don' t know. run each one along your tongue and let us know.

get which? pod or toneport? I think i really missed the boat on the Pod though. I saw a Pod 2.0 with that huge full size floor pedalboard for $300 at a pawn shop. and i held off on it because it had no manuals. and of course that was gone the next time i went check it out.

just to make it easy for the wife to look up. this is the creditcard smoker of the list. ahah

is that the Line6 Pod? I almost bought one a few months ago, but then a friend said i should get a toneport instead. ...and now i'm back to no decidion and i have neither.

the visitors tax rebate is not completely gone but has become very limited. look into it and see if your expenditures qualify. Although the dollar has made it bad for tourism coming this way, it's a great opportunity for people who travel to the US and abroad to countries that use US currency. suddenly, that trip that was $3000 can be done on $2000

guitars and amps. That was a big one for me while i was in university. I tried out different guitars, swapping out pickups, and buying effects pedals until i finally settled on a fender twin, marshall jcm800, 3 Boss pedals, 1 digitech, and 4 guitars.

I have no kids or big responsibilites so i put as much time into fishing as i can. As another person put it...I can't take it with me. On average, i spend maybe $7-8K/year on trips and new equipment combined but the bulk of that is on a fishing trip which i've been doing annually or semi-annually since the mid 90's. I'll get a few new reels every year, not always the flagship models, just whatever interests me for whatever reason. The same goes for rods, whatever looks interesting, and i always like to try something new or different just to see... One thing i don't think i'll be trying just yet are the carrot stix, at least not until they come in other colors. heh. I know my income takes a big hit from this but ever since studying economics, i look at everything from the standpoint of opportunity costs (trade-offs) and maxizing "utility." It's a pretty dorky way to see things but I can't seem to break it and it comes up in things i do every day. The past few years has been a boom for me with the steadily rising US exchange rate. I think we can do without the 50% exchange rates for a little longer, at least for canadians vacationing there.

That's a good chunk of money. You must have some nice shiny trinkets. wait, is this PM reply or a public post? I don't have this forum thing down yet.

Just wondering how much you spend on fishing in a typical year? for new gear, tackle, fishing trips, guiding, gas, time off work (income lost) to fish, etc?
-
I believe the proper wording is invested money. so go for it.

cheap mono won't cause overruns, bad thumbing skills causes them. The key is to learn how to adjust the casting controls to suit your thumb's skill level. If you're just starting, go high on the spool tensioner and casting control, when you're proficient, you can actually dial both of them right to zero and you'll be tangle free for the most part. Everybody gets the tangles from an unexpected gust of wind and other things that change the lure speed.
-
I'm waiting for the new ABU Revo Toro. It's a massive casting reel with a large wide spool in a low profile body. It should make casting big baits a little easier since the spool is down low. Not too expensive either.

you think europe has big ones. Look up the Nile perch. they have monster perch the size of tuna.

That's why I actually have a US based cellphone for when i'm travelling. It has no roaming, no long distance in all 50 states for incoming and outgoing so it's basically like a landline when i'm in the US or close enough to get on an american cell site. The best part is roaming in canada is only 30c/min so that's the same as if i had a prepaid phone from a canadian carrier. we need more competition like they have. The cost is a little less than the typical canadian plan. It might sound stupid for an ontario resident to do this but with canadian carriers charging 95C/min for roaming + other fees + taxes, i don't have to use it much for it to pay for itself.

Sanyo has a similar product called Eneloop that's been on the market for 2-3 years. So some of you might be able to find these for less. They also come precharged om the package and claim to hold a good charge for over a year. Mine are okay, i think they're 2000 mAh which is enough for the gps and digital camera. i don't know about lasting a year in the drawer because they've never sat that long.
