  1. Like the gentleman said Rice Lake was always good for walleye but haven't been for years either. Used to fish  Sturgeon Lake but the last time there it was terrible. Been told people come up from the GTA and keep everything they catch no matter what the size. Also they have a ban on Lake Scugog for walleye because they are trying to bring the population back up. Good Luck It is a beautiful area and make sure and get some Kawartha Lakes icecream. YUM! YUM!

  2. I have fished in the Timmins area the last week of May and first week of June  and it has always been great. Sunny but cool so no problem with flies.  Make sure and check the fishing regulations cause I think (don't quote me) walleye season doesn't start till the last week of May.  Fishing is always fantastic.

  3. Great  walleye fishing at a place called Erieau  just outside Chatham on Lake Erie. There are cabins to rent and the fishing is incredible.  Can catch some real hogs. Also can catch rainbow salmon and perch.  People at fish cleaning station are friendly and will let you know where they are biting.  It is a small place but it has a couple of restaurants and a beer and liquor store.  Only about 3 hours  from GTA. Nice thing too is your limit is 6 a day for walleye  with no size restrictions.

  4. I agree with big cliff. Fished Spanish and georgian bay and caught lots. Don't know about the other two but we used to fish Sturgeon lake but the last time we never got a walleye. I was told that it is being overfished by people from the GTA and the prices for places to stay have gone through the roof.

  5. I can't answer any of your questions about the Nipigon River but I have one for you. I had a cousin who lived on St, Joseph Island in a little place called Hilton Beach. I always wondered what the fishing is like there. I have fished a couple of times near the bridge that crosses over to the island. Where did you fish and how did you do? Good luck and have a safe trip home!!!!

  6. I haven't fished Mill Lake but I googled it (Mill Lake Ontario fishing)  and there are a lot of sites you can check. One was Mill Lake   Angler Atlas. It said you can catch pike, large mouth and small mouth bass and walleye. Maybe rainbow trout as well.  It also has hints on how to fish it and what to use. Good luck and have a great time. Four years is a long time and you need a vacation!!!

  7. Until covid I used to fish Sturgeon Lake every May  near Lindsay. Ontario.  The last year we were basically skunked. Tried everywhere and everything with no luck. Anyone heard how the fishing is there these days? We would like to go back if it is worth our while. Also walleye fishing on Lake Scugog was banned. Is it open now. Thanks for any help.

  8. I have fished on Lake Nipissing but not at  Restoule. If you google best lakes to fish near Restoule  there are quite a few lakes that will come up. Also it doesn't look like Lake Nipissing is very far from where you will be. All seem to have what you are hoping to catch. Good luck and  have a grand and safe  time.

  9. I have only fished Pigeon Lake once a while back and had a decent time. If you want to try it we had good luck fishing the north end of the lake for walleye. It is a rocky bottom and we used a yellow jig head with a minnow. Also if you want to you could try a perch coloured crank bait. The south end of the lake has lots of weeds and we caught a fair few bass there.  We used to fish Sturgeon Lake (I think it flows into Pigeon Lake) but the last couple times we were almost skunked so we haven't been back. I was told the lakes are being overfished by people from the GTA who keep everything they bring in. Good luck with your last day. Would be nice to catch a few nice one's even if just for pictures.

  10. When you say a trip do you want a fly in or a long drive to Northern Ontario? Depending where you live I know that Erieau just outside Chatham  will get you some real hogs. We fish there a lot cause it is so close and  catching  4, 5 ,6 pound walleye is very common.  My best day I caught an 11 pounder.  Nice because the limit is  6 fish.  If you are not familiar with the lake people at the marina  or bait shop will help. Very friendly.

  11. Hi Big Cliff: Thanks for the offer but I doubt we will be going back any time soon. We used to stay at Lunge Haven when Karen and Rob owned it but they sold it to some people in Toronto and it went downhill. The last couple of years we rented a cottage on the lake just past the big marina just outside Lunge Haven. There was a little creek beside it and some cabins across from it for rent there. It was nice. We used to fish by the golf course and near a spot where a power cable ran into the lake. Also on the other side of the lake a creek ran under the highway into the lake and we used to have good luck there. Even fished the channel into Lake Scugog. Good luck at Chapleau. Hope you have a nice time!

  12. Hi Big Cliff: I have a friend who has been fishing on Borden Lake  and he says it is fantastic.  There are some areas where you can't fish but the people at the lodge should be able to show you where that is.  Take lots of bug spray as when you get into June  it gets pretty bad especially at dusk. We have been to Horwood Lake just down the road from Chapleau  and the fishing was amazing. Place was called Big Bear Camp. Hope you have a great time. Brit PS: We used to fish at Lindsay on Sturgeon Lake  but the last time we were there we hardly caught a thing. Then we heard Lake Scugog has been closed for a while. We really liked gong there because the lake is so nice. Best part was going into Lindsay for a Kawartha Lakes ice cream cone at the little cone shop downtown. YUM YUM Let me know how the lodge turned out. We have been thinking of going there.
