Just a caster and scenery watcher.

In the early morning before the sun is even up sneak down to the bank, but do a cast when you are still 10 ft away.  Then when you get to the bank cast along the shore lines first.  Use a small/mid size surface bait. Big fish will be in hunting.  Once you have done the banks start fan casting using a number 4 or 5 blue fox.  Do the same in the evening just as the sun goes down.  Do try to where dark clothes,  just to try to blend in with the trees.

Small baits in the spring increasing in size as the year goes on.

Yes  this is why I asked.  Try to have about an inch of your bunk past your boat.  This helps support your transom when traveling and your motor is  torquing the back of your boat when hitting bumps.

Just so you know.  The perch fishing you do not need to walk far.  Pike  a bit further,  whities and trout further yet.   When there is snow on the ice and you are dragging your gear out it can be a work out,  especially wearing the extra clothing.   Go with an operator.  Much more fun when you can set up faster instead of a 1/2 hr walk.

I found you didn't have to go far.  I would stay in the 10 -20 ft range.  Pike cruise at all depths.   There are two bays you could try.  One is straight across the other is to the right of the boat ramp.

As mentioned, pile snow on the apron so wind doesn't creep in.  Also some mats just to keep their feet from direct contact with the ice.  

for space the boys sit in opposite corners on one side and you in the middle on the other side.

Go around your trailer.  Loosen all ground wires and then tighten them back up.  Just a small bit of corrosion can make them act funny.

Nope.  pay at the boat club or Fishmasters(?).  Not sure about the ramp at Port Maitland.

Regular 7 ft trolling with 10 mono and a 4 ft fluorocarbon leader is what I used there.  I used mono so f I hit a snag the hook wouldn't bury itself right away. There is a lot of wood in there.

Trolling the river try using shallow crankbaits or firetiger rapalas.  Being as muddy as it is you need to make noise and stir up mud.   Might just hit a snag or two though.

Try looking at Frog Togs or the Toad outfits.  I have no problem with mine for almost 10 years now.   Just have to look after them.  Hang to dry.

2 other things..  What ever plan you have on liquid refreshments and ice,  double it.  It's a long haul for a refill. 

Also don't swim in the river    Leeches,  lots and lots of leeches !!!   The main lake might be ok but the river is loaded with them.   Take shower bags or re-usable grocery bags and put holes in the bottom.  We were using pots of water off the dock.
