  1. No problem steve, I think he came down the road to visit me actually!

It was good to see him again.

holdfast, the closest town to that picture I suppose would be Rycroft...

I live between there and Sexsmith in the Saddle Hills, its about a 25 min drive.

  2. Evenin,

Its been a long, long time since I wandered through the OFC boards.

Looks like you folks are still as friendly as ever.

If any of you have ended up moving out west for work shoot me a note.

I must do some searching for CrappiePerchHunter if he's still around here.

The fishing in Northern Alberta is quite productive although a lake out here is what you would

call a pond back home. I thought Id stop by and say hi.

Heres a picture of the pooch on the Peace River cooling down.

  3. I really enjoy watching Leo, Ron and Owen from Fish TV.

I think my favourite would be Mark Krupa from Hooked.

He brings a little more to the table then just the fishing.....the show

really plays to the travel aspect and I think its a great feature.

He's crazy in his own way but its nowhere near as annoying as dimebag dipstick.

  4. We needed to put up (I believe) 24% to avoid CMHC so in lots of cases it does not apply.

Also, as posted earlier, CMHC has nothing to do with the buyers...all your doing is picking up

    the bill for your lender.

Joey, I feel for you...All this is new for us and I have a feeling we're about to discover

what we needed and what we dont.

  5. Im not sure about that Bily bob...

I wouldnt mind seeing the lic fee go up if they were to promise more CO's around.

I think it would be in much worse shape without the fee's.

Fishin was always better back in the ol' days....atleast thats what every angler over 50 tells me.

Maybe its just an excuse as to why they arent catchin anything (har' har')

  6. I can arrange for a few pick-ups.....need something for my cat to live in LOL

    Peter, I have a kitchen/vanity/bar business going.

Right now Im installing kitchens for 5 major builders in town here...P&G Kitchens is subcontracting me out

for now. Andreas working for a great denta office in town as a dental assistant.

How are they liking it out here? I remember talking to you about it over PM.

You came home and left them out here did you? My girlfriend would like to do the same to me.

Cookslav's little brother was out here for awhile but I think he's heading back to Ontario.

  7. After fighting with mortgage lenders for 3 months, Andrea and I have finally settled on

some property outside of town here in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Thank you very much to all those who PM'd me with advice on lenders!

Also, thanks to Rick (bigfish) for posting his bad experience with his ledner.

We were between two lenders when his story popped up, it was a no brainer for

    us to steer clear.

Anyhow, we decided that this place would be perfect to set up camp while we start

building a log home in the next few years. It has a mobile to live in for a few years

and most importantly, its out of town with 5.11 acres. Im north of town now aswell which

will cut my commute to Great Slave Lake from 8 hours to 7 hours and 40 min lol

    All comming into the backyard...

    Elk

    Deer

    Moose

Black and the odd Grizzly bears

  8. Some of you guys think TH owes you free stuff?

My brother works for the management aspect of TH and I can

tell you that they do tons of stuff for local charities.

16 cent timbit or not, they dont have to give anything away.

This is the problem with globalization and corporate oligopolies in general. In spite of many years of servitude, this woman is afforded no right to exercise her discretion by giving back a minuscule portion of what the company has received from its loyal customers. Instead, she is just another faceless, interchangeable drone. Life is and should always be reciprocal. This is why I will always try to support the small independent stores. Small business owners take way less for granted and are far more appreciative of those that keep their business afloat.

Or you could view it as Tim Hortons did her a favour and gave her a job to maybe try and support her kids.

More then likely if shes working at Tims, she couldnt go anywhere else.

People out here get paid 17.50 an hour at Tims, they dont complain.
