  1. You didn't have your good luck charm with you!
  2. I agree fully with this route.
  3. I'm glad to say this trip of Scotty's was uneventful compared to his last trip with his buddy Dave. I really need to convince the wife to get a boat with a full windshield and top, it was a cold ride out. So from the tip of the island up the Scugog River to try and recover Scott's hook and bait from two weeks ago. Not a chance but we managed about five before the rain came down and we made a bee line for home. These are the three worth taking pictures of. After a wet ride back we tried a few areas near the launch, had a few splashes but no luck. All were caught on either tubes or worms deep in the Lily Pads. Thank god for Power Pro.LOL Chris
  4. I think George Carlin said it best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eScDfYzMEEw
  5. It's a great boat. It looks the same as my 2003 but yours is Blue. I want that top, some days you need to hide from the sun. As for speed I can get between 25 & 30mph with two little guys like me and Copper on board my boat. If it has the 100l gas tank it goes forever with the 50hp 2 stroke but when it needs to be filled it hurts. LOL The only time I have wanted more HP was with more than two on board, you can feel the difference. Tons of storage is another plus. You will not be disappointed.
  6. You weren't kidding about the driving Scott! Either way it sucks big time for your friend, I don't even want to think of the amount to patch that up. Was it possible what ever he hit the boat on didn't also hit the tire and knock the axle loose? I've never even thought to look at my bolts, so I can't blame him for not doing it.
  7. It was, as far as a I know, I've never gone that far up so it was all new to me. Worth the drive up the lake.
  8. Yesterday morning my good friend Scott (CANADIAN COPPER) had me up before the sun. It's just not right LOL. We lauched the Lowe around 6:30 and we were off to the river at the north end. A quick lesson on working the weeds for me. Scott missed a big one or should I say didn't check the knot and lost a 6Lb fish for sure, so he says, I think it was 12lbs by the splash. The amount of boat rage was wild, I thought the rod was going to get it He quickly regained himself and pulled in this one. Not long after I got my first. Scotty with another one. Me again. Scott again. Scott looking at the small guy he caught. One of the last of the day. All in all it was a great day on the water, it was one of the best days I've had, thanks Scott. I learned a few things like how to duck out of the way of a Senko coming back at you fast when you miss the hook set and let the big guy settle a bit after he loses a big fish. Thanks again Scott for the great morning.
  9. Your wright Bob it's a 5.7l but I could swear it had a 5.9l badge on it. Better get the eyes checked LOL. Never said I was an expert just telling you our experiences with the two we had. I do believe I said I am glad you are having better luck with yours. The damage was from the Toyota's bumper because it folded too easy in my opinion and looking at it compared to other bumpers it looks pretty thin. Just an observation not cold hard facts. I will stand behind the towing comments I made earlier, I've towed with all four makes and out of the four I did not like the Toyota at all, just a seat of the pants thing, again no hard facts just a feeling. My 05 Chevy is a crappy tow vehicle compared to my 95 GMC but there is no comparison in the gas mileage. So I tow with the 05. The one thing I noticed is Toyota stands behind there product because the times they went for warrenty work it was no questions asked and do you need a replacement? Comparing that to the GM pulling teeth way of dealing with customers I have lived through lately, it's no wonder people are looking elsewhere.
  10. My old company bought two trucks identical to the one in the picture. 5.9l motors that were pigs on gas, I was glad to have the company Petro card. Empty it stops on a dime but I towed the same bobcat in the picture on a tandem trailer simular to this one off and on for six months and have never been so scared in my life towing something. Having to load the trailer with barely any hitch weight because the rear axle can't hold more than a case of pop in the back, must have had something to do with it. The ad on tv for these trucks showing them coming to a hard stop with a big load is a joke, thank you Jenson trailers for the great trailer brakes. It felt like the load was in control of the truck. I asked to get one of the old Ford or Chevy's back. Solid, I don't think so. Pray no one ever backs into you on a construction site because the front end sheet metal is no stronger the that Coke can you had at lunch, new front bumper cover and fender over three grand. The guy with the domestic wasn't backing up fast and just scratched the back bumper of his truck. No one that witnessed it could believe the amount of damage it caused, it should have just scratched the bumper. The blind spots are bad, then you add a ladder rack and bed tool box to it, forget it. It sucks to have to ask the passenger to change the station on the radio because someone thought it was a great idea to put it out of easy reach of the driver but they are "The greatest trucks ever built" according to some. They would make a weekend warrior a nice truck I guess but for any serious work I would stick to any of the big three. That's why the boss gave them to the project manager and a foreman. They didn't "work" but they looked good at site meetings all washed up with the company name down the side. LOL I'm glad you are having a better experience than we did with your Toyota than we had with both of ours, maybe they were Monday morning trucks. I was going to get one until I had six months driving around in one of these suckers. Buy the way Toyota dealers are the best , they fix everything no questions asked.
  11. Back to work LOL, I know what you do for a livin' Scotty and you can't call that work. Amazing as usual bud !
  12. Hey everyone, I finally got the boat fixed and a few friends and I went to my buddies for bass opener. His place is on Drag Lake just outside of Haliburton. Friday night was just sitting around the fire and have'n a few pops. The next day we got going at the crack of noon. We were working over an area of submerged logs. My buddy Chris yells out "snag" and yanks on the rod. The drag starts to sing and I'm yelling start reel'n in, trees don't usually pull back. After a short while he lands this brute, his personal best Largemouth. I was catching these little guy's all weekend. Can't complain though, beats getting skunked Of course when we went out on the neighbours pontoon boat Sunday doesn't Chris hook into this nice fish. When it rains it pours LOL. Going back tomorrow morning for a week with our wives and hoping to catch a nice Laker before we come home. Everyone have a good weekend and be safe! Chris.
  13. I think it all comes down to what has treated you well in the past. My family has had good luck with GM products and not so good luck with Ford's and Dodge's. Standing behind their product is what to look for in a company. That's why GM may have lost me as a long time customer. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a140/low.../March05001.jpg The old girl in the back has a rebuilt tranny and motor replaced between 270 and 300 thousand but it tows the boat better than the newer one. The '05 gets great gas mileage ,is a comfortable ride and has tonnes more power than the '95 which has a bigger motor. The only draw back for the '05 was at 60 thousand the lifters started making noise. This is where I feel GM falls on their face, customer service. Trying to get this fixed under warranty was like getting teeth pulled without painkillers. Long story short they replaced the left side lifters only??? Because of all this I will look to another brand for our next car or truck. Fighting for repairs when you have video of the problem is horsepucky! Chris.
  14. Hope you have time to film. There's so much to do you sometimes forget. I second Animal Kingdom and the safari ride. Don't forget the bird show. Good luck on your search for a camera it's going to get a workout. Chris.
  15. No flack Pikehunter, I know I'm not perfect my wife reminds me all the time. You seem to think I was driving like that all the way home. I did take it easy for 5 hrs except for a couple of minutes. No excuse it's the first boneheaded move I've done in a long time but as you stated you've been there too. By the way my wife thanks you for the laugh, the anger management line cracked her up. Her quote "He doesn't know you at all does he." 99.9% of the time I'm the calmest out there. But thats ok, you have your thoughts about the subject and they are very valid. Don't worry about my job I'm fortunate to be in a industry that employers are constantly trying to get you to come work for them. No matter how you look at it I had a momentary lapse of reason, it was stupid and I'm Sorry. This one action is not the way I conduct the majority of my life. Chris.
  16. I have no defence for that little move other than being so frustrated at the situation. All I could see was sitting there for god knows how long while those two ill equiped vehicals struggled to get up a hill. The whole night all I kept thinking was if people obeyed the rules of the road and have a little repect for one another we would all get home alot faster then we did. I was getting honked at for letting one car merge from a side street. Only in Toronto, I'm glad we only work down there once in a while. Slowpoke I was driving very calm before and after. I wasn't in a big hurry to get home, or wreck the company truck. There was no big drifts to plow through on my little offroad trip and once I cleared them I just went along at 40 to 50 kms an hour. You are right, what I did was wrong. The risk for something going bad was low and I did something I don't feel I would nomally do. Just frustrated, thats all. Chris.
  17. It took me 5 hours to get from Bathhurst & Queen to Oshawa, 50 minutes in good conditions. It was my first experence with gridlock, people would pull through an intersection knowing there was no room to clear the area, noooooo their light turned green so they MUST go, wrong space cadet now you just made me miss my light 3 times because you have everything blocked! A lady so scared she left 20 car lenghts in front of her but if anyone went in there she'd slam on the brakes. IF you are that scared TAKE THE BUS! The topper was at the 4 hour mark. Two yuppies in their cars that are worth more then my house, struggling to get up a hill. Now you'd think these guys where pretty smart to make all that money, they would at least invest in some winter tires for those beautifully engineered German automobiles. This is where I lost it, after watching for 15 minutes, looking in the rear view mirror watching the cars behind us build to the 100 plus mark, I decided to make my own road. Stress made me do it! I hit the first opening availble, the bottom of someones driveway, sidewalk and boulivard. With the Duramax screaming, all 6 tires spinning and a rostertail of snow flying out the back I cleared them before the next driveway. I'm sorry if it was your yard but I couldn't take it anymore. The only problem is that the company name is in big block letters on the back, I hope I don't have some explaining to do! Chris.
  18. Well I'd like to start by saying thanks a million Scott for having me along. To bad my bad luck followed us up there. So I guess you won the friendly bet on what the heck you caught. I second you on Snowfari, the owners where great as where the bungalows. To bad the fish only came buy from one to three o'clock in the afternoon! I don't think I could ice fish any other way now, sitting in a track suit, lying down with a fishing rod in one hand and a cool beverage in the other. The only thing missing was a shower and I think the one I had this afternoon at home was the best one ever! Chris. P.S. A thank you to my wife for making sure we had enough food so we didn't starve to death.
  19. I double posted!
  20. CC don't use up all the luck before the weekend buddy. I'm counting on some of that for the trip north. H*ll getting away from the GTA and work is good enough. Maybe thats my problem, going on a fishing trip and not catching a fish doesn't bother me. I gotta set my goals higher! Chris.
  21. Is it just me or are these guys unbelivable. To start with it seems like the bill creeps up every few months a couple of dollars here and a couple dollars there. Tonight I come home from work and turn to the Speed channel for my 'Pinks' fix to find that it has been moved in favour of Turner Classic Movies. No big deal right, just surf around and find it. Knowhere to be found. I called Rogers and after a long question and answer session with a computer, I got to talk to a very nice lady who told me that yes the channel has been moved and if I wish to continue watching it I must purchase digital cable and would I like to be transfered to a sales person to set that up! I asked if this was the new way to get people to switch to digital because at almost $90 a month aready, you guys are getting enough of my money. Of course they don't take a half a dozen of the other channels that very few watch. No they take two sports related channels (Speed and Golf) that I know of. Anyway, is there an option out there for me other than cable for four T.V.'s and internet? Chris.
  22. Jethro, Frenchman's and the outflow from the Nuke plant are two different places. As for ice fishing I don't ever remember seeing anyone out on the bay. Chris.
  23. Thanks guys and gal, washed it. Smells better, drip drying right now. Any suggestions on the type of fishing line to buy?
  24. Canadian Copper has invited me ice fishing in a couple of weeks so I started going through my pops ice fishing equipment. There is a Mustang Floater suit that was in a vacum bag. When the bag was opened it smelled a little moldy, it doesn't look to bad, so can I just wash it and let it hang dry or is she toast? I also found a few ice fishing rods, an old wood tip-up and a nasty looking homemade gaff that looks like a huge treble hook. The line needs to be replaced on the rods and tip-up, any recomondations? Chris.
  25. Here I sit the day after another funeral wondering why I've lost one more family member to this damn disease. Three years ago it was my father at the ripe old age of 56, my grandad in his 60's. Yesterday we laid to rest my wife's stepmom, again way to young (62). I got lucky , I have two sets of inlaws and unlike some others I know, both of them are great. My rant is what the heck is taking so long to find a way to beat this thing. I mean for as long as I can remember (I'm 37) they've been looking for a cure. Millions of dollars and all this time for what. I will still do my part to help but where's the light at the end of the tunnel? Sorry for the downer post but I just needed to vent. So a Merry Christmas to all members of the board, give all your loved ones a hug cause that's what it's all about. The rest is just a bonus. Chris.
