  1. Are the women holding the fish at the end the anglers or are they just for show on the final stage ?
  2. Should probably try one of the spots your lovely daughter suggested to you ??‍♀️???
  3. Lol and proud of this minor detail. Most would mistake me for a male behind a computer screen ... due to my job.. my hobbies ... lucky for my dad right ? A daughter who masquerades as a full blown hunting and fish Tom boy ????‍♀️
  4. I appreciate the Hat off, anything I can do to help make a difference ... I must say though I am a woman, and the other Brian’s (Rattletrap’s) daughter.
  5. In my line of work, I teach outdoor education to some of the worst of the worst. Students expelled for bullying, fighting, assault, drugs and worse ... I take them some of the places my dad has taken me over the years in hopes that they will build strength of character, patience, people skills, problem solving etc much like I did through my experiences. We start with less crowded spaces until they can be decent people to others. But I work diligently with these young boys, sometimes young men to ensure they think twice before they do what they did to get in trouble again. You are not wrong that many “bad kids” just don’t have the right guidance or examples to follow. I work hard to give them opportunities and skills in a way they don’t feel like they are learning and hope that it will make a difference in the future. Sometimes it’s not always rewarding but when you mKe a difference in one person you know it’s going a long way. Ice fishing in particular is a great lesson provider ... ?
  6. I have some similar pictures I’m always happier for it to be me shedding blood then the fish.
  7. Your advice is excellent. I think my favourite part is when you said that you can only use bigger baits because your fish are so eager... real problem to have in the musky world? I can happily say Never caused any harm to a musky!!
  8. Hey Lew, I try to make him proud every day fishing or not...but I know he’s smiling when I’m catching fish . He taught me well... now and then I like to show him what i’ve learned along the way... and enjoy chasing the tug with him on his new boat ?
  9. Agree, cutting hooks for the safe release of a fish is often necessary but well worth it for the chance to handle such amazing fish. I second the opinion on the cutters they don’t have to be fancy just sharp and do the job quick ...
  10. As a lady angler, my opinion crocs were once a horrible fashion but they have excellent purpose. Lightweight, dry quick, come in many styles now... mine are a boat shoe and supposedly they are excellent for your back and stability ... can’t go wrong in my opinion ?
  11. I enjoyed the report, mostly because it was kinda about me. Another great day for the books with my oldest and most favourite fishing partner!!
  12. Pigeontroller, if the name represents you favourite spot for musky it's a beautiful lake. Last week was my first musky from there on opener before that they had managed to evade me! We didn't do much trolling we seem to have better success casting there. I have spent a great few of time trolling Georgian Bay and LSC.
  13. Thanks for the congrats Lew! I have spent about two years looking for a fish like her, she was a ten in my books. I do have friends who have been fishing for years who have not managed to get one like that so I know it will be a tough one to top. Seems this season has been slow for many people, the weather made things a bit different especially up in the kawarthas. The fish are not establishing the same patterns and it seems to take a bit more to find them. I have been able to raise a few and not get them to commit even on the 8 so I think time will tell how this season plays out but so far so good for me!
  14. Likely good advice. The fish seem to be confused with the weather we have been having seems to me they are closer to the spawn spots then the typical season opener spots...
  15. I spend a fair bit of time on the water... as I mentioned I am guilty of fishing for the fish of many casts. I have been exceptionally lucky this season. Musky season 2017 opened just last weekend and on my third cast this past Saturday I welcomed aboard my new personal best. Again I give credit to the boys over at handlebarz musky lures. I picked up a set off blades of Mr.Parker and have been delighted again and again by the result. This fish did a number on my bait so I will be in the market for a new one soon I'm sure. I'm not sure I will ever want to retire the colour I grabbed after all the action it has gotten. This beauty came from Lady B up in the Kawarthas and she measured in at just over 47"...
  16. Thanks for the warm welcome, and yes I am in fact his DAUGHTER lol, closest one he has to a son. He doesn't seem to mind having me for a fishing buddy especially these days when we can swap tips, tricks and share spots
  17. Hey all, Just thought I would share a photo of my 2017 opening day musky and introduce myself. I have been a member of the forum for a few years but am just getting into posting and sharing. My dad, a.k.a rattletrap 2, has been on here for years and now that I am such an avid outdoors woman with a thirst for knowledge he said this is a place I might like to spend some time. I fish regularly, for any fish but have a real passion for slaying musky these days. I am also a novice bow hunter, looking to get more into it this coming fall. A big thanks to Mike over at handlebarz lures, and his double 8s in a custom colour from the muskey oddesey I was able to bring this beauty bruiser aboard within the first half hour of my opening day up in the kawarthas. I look forward to sharing and learning from and with you all.
