Hey all, Went with my buddy to the rouge tonight. The original plan was to fish for some carp but I heard from our resident carp expert MJL that the carp fishing was on the decline there. We decided to fish for salmon instead, my buddy was adamant that there would be some bitin but I was skeptical. I have egg on my face because not 10 minutes in something hit my hook HARD and the line Snapped like a twig! After getting my heart rate down and adjusting my drag accordingly (I've never fished for salmon) I tried again. After about 5 minutes I had another on and it took me for a nice run, I was able to land it after a quick fight and while it wasn't huge, I was pumped! After taking a pic and releasing, my friend had one on that he fought for about 20 minutes, this thing was jumping and running and causing a mess! He almost had it in but about 20 feet out it took one last run and snapped the line! My buddy was not very happy to say the least I ended up getting one about 5 minutes later that was bigger then my first and gave a hell of a fight. These things hit hard on my 7 foot rod. Tomorrow I'm grabbing a noodle rod because I'm hooked! Here are the pics.

That's horrible. I'd like to think the fishing community is tight knit and respectful of each other. The bad apples spoil it. My condolences go out the deceased mans family.

Yah they make you pay during the day on weekends for parking which sucks. It also sucks that they never empty the garbage cans and at night you have to watch out for the huge number of aggressive raccoons looking to eat.

I also live a couple of minutes from there. How's the carp fishing there? I always see them spawning in the spring but haven't seen many people fishing for them anymore. They used to fish a lot before those ponds in the back had that gateway system built.

Also I've heard on here and other boards and fisherman that it's too early to chuck spoons at the Bluffs. The bluffs guys are still targeting pike. The trout will come in a couple of weeks.

This is probably a dumb question but do you guys use regular spinning reels with the big rods?

What a great spot you got!

Hey all, Couldn't make it to bluffer's today as I was stuck downtown because I had to pick someone up in the evening. So I ended up fishing the harbourfront. Had only a couple of follows and bites after the first couple of hours but around 7:30 when the sun was just setting I caught my first 2 pike ever within 10 minutes of each other! They weren't hogs by any stretch of the imagination but I was excited as hell. Thanks to the random passerby who took a pic of me with one of the pike. I have to hang around the photography forum more so I can figure out how to get the proper angles to show the size of the fish.

I've heard stories about the heyday and am really upset I wasn't around then! Oh well I'll wait a couple of weekes to hit the east end tribs for Browns. For now I'll head to bluffers after work to see if I can catch any pike. I'll be there after 5:30 and I'll be the guy in the Leafs jacket if anyone wants to say hi.
