Roy I never said solo paddler was steering me wrong. I know first hand what a quality fishery the Cabonga is. Problem for me is its a 12 hr drive. I live in NY near Rochester. What I was referring to is the Quebec license and parc laverendrye permits are so expensive for non residents, its a joke. If they really wanted the tourism, it would be priced in line with the rest. Thanks for the suggestions, well go somewhere perhaps Big Gull or a future suggestion. BP

Thanks. Ive been up there a few times ( Parc Laverendrye)and you are right it is outstanding. The licence and park permits are getting out of hand though for a non resident. Its like they are discouraging you from coming. I thought this board was for Ontario? I need a lake 2-3 hrs from the St. lawrence. Anybody?

Can somebody recommend a good walleye lake I can take my son to that is within 2-3 hrs of the 1000 islands? Thinking of going within the next 2 weeks. Remote is good or cabins either way. Thanks much BP

Can anyone reccommend a good tent site accessible to decent walleye fishing somewhere within a couple hours of the 1000 islands/St, Lawrence????? Thank You BP P.S need to be able to use boat/motor not canoe.

My son and I may be headed to Sturgeon L for the 1st time next week. We are considering a place at the south end of the lake accross from pickerel Pt. Can anyone tell me if this is productive musky water in this area or is this area too far away from the productive areas. ???? Thanks in advance. BP
