  1. I use the 3M Purple polish, it is not cheap but a little goes a long way. It is suitable for both fibreglass and Aluminum. Lasts for a full season without reapplication. Makes cleaning the boat MUCH easier!

  2. John, If you are looking for reasonably priced cottage properties, I would suggest looking in the Haliburton area. There are many landlocked lakes without marina's on them where you can still find nice waterfront cottages for under 200K. Send me a PM if you want some info on this area, or let me know your price range and I will tell you which areas make sense for you! I am a realtor working in the 705 :D

Fishing would be the first priority for me, so a lake that has little traffic is better than one like Rice.

  3. Those lakers from Simcoe can be a little greasy for sure. The smaller ones, under 5lbs, are quite good tasting, as long as you remove the belly fat! I also find that brining the fillets ( soaking in salt water) for 5-10 minutes works well at drawing some of the fat out of the flesh. I like to fillet the fish removing the belly fat, and then bake the boneless skinless fillets in the oven seasoned with lemon and lime zest, salt and pepper and a sprinkling of good tequila!

I have only caught one laker this year, but have limited out on Whitefish 7 times so far! :clapping::thumbsup_anim: We have been finding the whities around 50-60 fow. This season has been the best for whitefish in at least a decade for me!

We have also been catching lots of herring (cisco), this is a good sign for sure, hopefully they are making a comeback! Of course, all herring were released as there is a ZERO possession limit on them.

  4. I have recently moved to an outlying area as well. We looked into wireless ISPs, but none were available in my area. Wireless needs line of sight to a cell tower, I live in the escarpment and there is no line of sight to a tower :dunno: So I had to go with a satellite based system, Xplorenet is what I chose after doing some research. This system uses a dedicated dish to both receive and send via satellite, much faster than the old expressvu systems that had to send via dialup..... but still considerably slower than DSL or cable.

These systems are not cheap! The equipment and installation was around $800 and the service costs $80 per month, but as a Realtor, dialup was not an option. Most websites I need for work would time out on a dial up connection.

  5. MMMMMMMMMM, Deer tenders.....(drool)

I always carefully remove the tenderloins from any deer and moose that we get. They are delicious :D:thumbsup_anim:

I have heard stories of unscrupulous butchers who sometimes 'cough' "misplace" the tenders during the butchering process  Always eaten at camp, roll them in black pepper and coarse salt, and fry in butter, or wrap in tinfoil with a couple pats of butter and place on the coals. 8 minutes, then flip over, 8 more and enjoy! :thumbsup_anim:

  6. That was a classic of a game! :D I have been a huge buckeyes fan since the days of eddie george, terry glenn and joey galloway! I too would like to see a rematch in the BCS championship game, although if Rutgers wins out, I think they should go. Michigan IMO is better than any other 1 loss team. Rutgers is a HUGE surprise, but they beat Louisville a few weeks back, so they must be for "real".

  7. the names all seem familiar, but something is strange.... :(

You seem confused, befuddled, exasperated..... :dunno:

Your mind is swimming, is this real, or some kind of dream?!?

You panic, your world is changing, DAMN YOU CHANGE!!!!

    :worthy:

Is this a new reality, or have you entered.......

THE TWILIGHT ZONE !!!! (insert freaky music) B):D

  8. B) I also can't wait for the hard water! :D Good luck with the deer, they are EVERYWHERE around here, I have seen at least a half dozen everyday on my 35 minute commute. Lots of nice 6 point or better bucks, and more turkeys than I can count.

I love The Show Pete, lots of good advice and techniques for locating and catching quality Muskies, Pike and 'eyes!
