  1. That's a great post. You will get a lot of life out of a reel if you maintain them like that. One thing I find handy is using my air compressor with a blowing attachment. It makes stripping the old crud out of the gears and bearings easy. Just make sure there isn't any small parts that can go flying. Hold a cloth or paper towel around the part your blasting. I use liquid wrench for stripping the crap off. Works good. Mike's Reel Repair is the source for most schematics if you happen to loose the one for your reel.

  2. I would guess the people that poach walleye seriously wouldn't be waiting for spawning reports on this site. They know whats going on.... Sadly.

I have seen people fishing with a dewworm 'n cork right when the walleyes are in full spawn mode, totally ignorrant to what's going on around them. I doubt those people are using the internet for any sort of information.

At least I have seen an increase of posted NO FISHING signs at the dams this year...

  3. I agree. It is frustrating when you get the time to sit down to watch a fishin show and that crap is on. Who wants to watch that?. Expecially after paying for the service. There is simply just barely enough on WFN to keep people paying. Leafs TV isn't much better.

  4. Are we talking a Great Lakes strain of smallmouth at 20"?. Big water smallies are quite different than inland, smaller waterbody fish. They grow, feed, migrate and the genetics make them almost a different sub species. Just like the walleyes and perch, pike and so on. A 20"er from a Great Lake and a 20" smallmouth from a Kawartha type lake probably have a 5+ year age and a pound in weight seperation.

  5. A sled is a far superior machine for ice fishing. There are times when an ATV can be nice but when it gets slushy or deep with snow a ATV simply sucks. A sled will get you there and back with zero snow (studded track) or major snow.....You will be waving bye- bye to the ATV's. I made a 10 thousand dollar ATV mistake one winter.

  6. I have an excellent 2001 GMC Safri SLE All Wheel Drive that I'M SELLING. Let me say that the AWD is 100% worth the extra doe. With good tires, that van will keep up to any 4X4. The reason it`s for sale is because we don't need 3 vehicles. Just a little info...White/ bronze 2- tone, 190 Kms, Fully loaded, leather with buckets all around, Running boards, dutch doors, tinted, tow-haul package. Awesome condition inside and out...6,500...worth every penny.

  7. The dot com / e tail business isn`t what Lebaron is about. They started as retailers and continue to compete with that as a priority. Not only are their reels sell cheaper, lures, rods, terminal tackle and supplies are aswell. You can't judge a retail company by it`s online sevices. It`s a different business. How many rods or reels would you buy online without feeling them in your hands first?. You will save plenty of cash taking advantage of the no tax sales Lebaron provide a few times a year. If I have a choice of spending 200 bucks on a reel at Lebaron or BPS. I would rather keep the money in Canada.

  8. LeBaron-Not LeBaronssss.... I have had issues like everyone else but, name another store in Canada that has a better store lay out or better pricing. The low cost WEBSITE and CASH REGISTERS are just ways to keep overhead down so they can compete. I am surpised like many, that they have survived the BPS presence. Obviously the are doing something right. Lebaron flat out have provided great sales and product. I don`t think the doors of LeBaron will be closing anytime soon. Supporting a Canadian company isn't a bad idea either.

  9. Hi Sandy,

I live in the Kawartha's on waterfront and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. So many opportunities. Some of the small towns around the Lindsay area are great too. My wife is a real estate agent with Royal LePage in Lindsay and is super friendly and can help you with all your needs.

Feel free to call her anytime. Mary-Jean Edwards. 1-(866)-737-9958
