  1. I have a young son that wants me to take him fishing under the lift bridge in Hamilton, since he saw some people fishing there. I grew up in the area but never really fished there, I was only down there when the smelts were running. First off what side would be better to fish on the Hamilton or Burlington side and either east or west of the orange lift bridge. Also what can I expect to catch there and what should I be using as bait, keep in mind I just want my kid to catch something. Nothing better than seeing your kid excited about catching a fish !!!!

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Hey everybody!!!

  3. Hey everyone!! Well didn't get a chance to post last week or the weekend but Mr. Skunk is now a free critter thanks to everyone here. :thumbsup_anim: I used the tarp trick and didn't chance transporting him, just managed to open the door and slowly walk away. After about 2 minutes he slowly walked out of the cage and was on his way. Everything worked out okay, no harm done. Sorry no pics guys.

Thanks to all for your help, This is a great site with great people!!!!!

P.S. I will definetely keep the formula for skunk smell removal, because I have a very curious young LAB!!

  4. I hope you havea pick up truck :) Slowly walk to the cage with a white sheet or blanket held up, no sudden movements. Slowly drape the sheet over the cage, gently pick it up and put it in the truck and you can move it up to a km away (if you're in ontario), take it off the truck, and release. Good luck

  5. Hey everybody, we have a trap set up in our garden and been catching rabbits that are eating everything in sight. We usually just bring them about 4 miles away and release them in an open field area. But a SKUNK!!! how am I going to get him to the area to release him. Does anyone have experience with skunks? What are my options here? I don't want to hurt the skunk.

    Please anybody have any suggestions?

  6. Sorry to hear and I know your pain! My father is battling adrenal cancer and has had 2 major surgeries in the matter of 6 months. They said they got it all the first time when they took out his right side adrenal gland along with his spline and part of his pancreas then after spending 2 months in the hospital they found the cancer had spread to his other adrenal. So another major surgery and now he has bladder cancer. He is the strongest person I know!!! always positive and takes life one day at a time.

My brothers and sisters have had a really hard time with this but it does bring you close together!! We do not understand Gods plan but he is the almighty and you have to put your trust in him! Pray for Jesus to give you strength.

I try to kiss my kids and tell them I love them every day because you never know when you will be called to the next life. My thought are with you, keep your chin up.

  7. You can fish the river/pier right in Grand Bend for Perch, the various rivers that enter into the Lake are all no more than a 1/2 hour drive from the Bend.

Where exactly will you be staying? Grand Bend itself or one of the many other spots in the area. Ipperwash PP?

I am staying right in the downtown area of Grand Bend, renting a cottage their. I have fished off the main pier there with the kids in the past, have caught some smallies, rock bass, suckers, sheephead and even a walleye!!

I did drive up towards Godrich and fished in a place called Bayfield where the river meets the lake off of the pier. I had no luck but i saw some monster smallies caught there. I have never been to Ipperwash but that sounds like fun!! maybe renting a canoe with the kids. Does anyone know the rental rates and the admission cost to enter the park?

Thanks for everyones help on the forum, this truly is a great community!!!

  8. Hey everybody just trying to get opinions about insurance. I presently have home and auto(2 cars) insurance through a broker for the last 10 years (with the same company). I have never had a claim and no problems, thank goodness knock on wood !!! but my rates seem to be high. I decided to get some quotes and found out that I can save about $350 all together going through someone else.

I don't know if i can mention the name here on the Forum but it is Allstate Insurance who gave me the better quote, I have no experience with them!! Does anyone on the forum have experience with Allstate Insurance? I would love to hear good and bad, if possible. I feel i should be loyal with my present Insurance company but money is money. Does it pay to switch or will the years of loyalty with my present provider help me in the long run?

I hope I'm not breaking any rules by mentioning their name, Any help would be great from you guys!!

    Thanks again!!!

  9. I will be visiting the Grand Bend area of Lake Huron in July and am wondering if anyone who knows or lives in the area can guide me to any good fishing spots i can take the kiddies. Hopefully targeting Bass but anything would be good because i just want the kids to have a positive experience that will get them hooked on fishing.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!!!
