  1. Stringease Zero Twist Hooks are very similar, and are sold on local websites...these are the hooks I use and will never change back! They're awesome! Xzone Lures Website TackleStock.com Website
  2. I went there a few years ago, and we hammered pike trolling deep diving crankbaits in a canoe. We landed 4 fish over 15lbs, and multiple (smaller) fish casting spoons off island drop-offs. We were trolling black/silver wally divers and various Reef Runners.
  3. Dropshotting is a technique that has become extremely popular for bass (smallmouth in particular). It has the weight below the hook so the weight stays in contact with the bottom and the bait is suspended up the line at whatever leader length you want. (typically 8"-24" off bottom). Here's an example: Dropshot Rig
  4. Great idea Art. Do you have a picture of yours?
  5. I love how people can whine about players salaries, when WE ARE THE ONES PAYING THEM!!!! Do they make unreal amounts of money? Yes But can you blame them for wanting more money? Nope! If your company offered you a raise, are you gonna take it? YUP If your company offered you $1.4 million per year to work, would you say no? NOPE Fact of the matter is.... WE watch the games, WE go to the games, WE buy the videos games, hats, sticks, etc, etc, etc that pay the players/owners salaries! Again... do they make unreal amounts of money? Yup... but who wouldnt take as much money as possible at "work"?
  6. I'm looking to setup my Nitro for Quinte trolling but am having a hard time deciding which is the best way to go to mount rod holders on my boat. I've purchased a couple of the flush mounth Scotty holders, that I am debating mounting to the gunnel of the boat by drilling into the glass. But I've heard that the gel coat can spider crack if not done properly, so I'm nervous to drill. I found some other mounts that you can attach directly to the rope cleats of the boat. Extreme Fishing Concepts No drilling or anything and they're easily removable. Only problem... they're like $80/each and I'd need 4... Whereas the scotty's are $8, and I already have the actual "rod holder" portion so it would cost me $32 in total. I've also heard that there are mounts you can use your seat holes to mount as well, but am having a hard time finding them online. Has anyone done this type of thing, or have any other ideas? I'd love to avoid having to drill into my boat, but can't really justify spending $350-400 on rod holders. Any help is much appreciated.
  7. Xzone Slammers HANDS DOWN. The "HammerShad" is a Slammer wanna-be. Amazing! Been hammering Walleye and bass all year on them. As mentioned above, they are also KILLER through the ice for lakers.
  8. Ya, I went a couple weekends ago.... Caught a ton of fish, but only a few "bigger" ones. lots in the 1-2lb range. Apparently this year has been really tough fishing according to the locals. They've had a season-long derby and the fish that was leading it is 4.2lbs. I caught a 4.56lb'er.... but the derby was only open to residents of the resort we stayed on. Darn! Not sure about the boat launch question, as I used the one that the resort had.
  9. If you plan to fish through the ice at all for them, then DEF get some Xzone Swammers in pearl as mentioned above!
  10. OMGGGGGGGG...... I agree, def looks like a Marlin
  11. You'll get refunded for the ticket prices, if the season is cancelled.
  12. You betcha! I won't even go ice fishing if I dont have my flasher with me. Especially on Quinte. We put it to the test one day cause I have a buddy that "doesnt believe in that crap" and swore he could outfish me without one.... Well... after outfishing him by a 5-to-1 margin for the morning... he quickly changed his tune and asked to use my spare Vexilar! LOL They are a MUST HAVE for any serious fisherman. Whether on the hard or softwater. PS - most sonar units come equipped with the "flasher" feature.... a lot of people dont even know they have it.
  13. You've got that right!!!!!!!!! Since my name was the first mentioned.... I believe that gives me the right to call "shotgun" on them!
  14. No use for me either...... but Navionics App on the other hand.... (just be sure to uncheck the community layer, LOL)
