Personally, I think slot limits are the way to go. IMO, all lakes should have slot limits on the most popular "catch and keep" species. Nothing hurts a fishery more than over-harvesting of the main "brood" stock fish. The slot that the Kawartha's have for Walleye is perfect, IMO. Perfect eating size fish are legally allowed to be kept, whereas the really young and the good "brood" stock fish are to be released. To me, THAT is the perfect balance between Anglers and the treehuggers. From multiple personal experiences while guiding on Quinte, I sure wish they would put a slot limit in there instead of the current limit (4 fish with one over 24"). I think a 14-20" would be a great slot to have there and the limit should be ZERO on fish over 24". Especially with the netting and such that goes on. (I have native status, btw... not pointing fingers at anyone).

I would HIGHLY recommend having at least 1 GoPro with you at all times. They take amazing HD footage. Carrying a nice DSLR also is worth it's weight, especially when you land a trophy and want some high quality shots. I always carry my GoPro's and my Canon Rebel XT (DSLR) with me when fishing. Nothing beats having the video footage of you catching the fish, and having the high-quality DSLR shots as well. It's all personal preference though....

With all this insane weather recently, I've been noticing a lot of mixed forecasts depending on which website/app I visit. One app will say 12 degrees and 8km winds, when another says 14 degrees and 15-20km winds. Gets kinda frustrating! Just wanted to see what website/app others use that seems to be the most accurate for them. Ones I use the most: Websites - www.accuweather.com, theweathernetwork.com Apps - Accuweather and WindFinder

No problem at all. I haul mine alone all the time on foot. Just make sure you put runners on it.... I have mine rigged up to be able to remove the extra seat if I'm fishing alone, that takes out some weight and creates a TON of room inside the hut for storage as well.

PVR is the best thing ever! I'm also with Rogers and have WFN, and the PVR is amazing. Tape all the shows you want, and fast forward through commercials! WELL worth the money, IMO.

I have used almost every model of Clam shelter out there, and I have to admit that the Nanook is my fav and the only hut I still use to this day. I have mine all tricked out with removable seats, GoPro mounts etc, and I dont have a negative thing to say about it.

Then out first round....that's how Bobby Lu rolls, no?

Oh boy.... I bet this thread gets "interesting" quick quickly! Sportsnet Link So there we were Wednesday night on Hockey Central, Jeff Marek, Nick Kypreos, John Garrett and I discussing the merits of Patrick Roy versus Martin Brodeur. And then the topic of what the Vancouver Canucks are going to do in goal when the NHL returns came up. To the shock of many, I blurted out that the Roberto Luongo-to-Toronto Maple Leafs deal “was done.” As with anything said on TV, the Twittersphere exploded for 36 hours with Leafs and Canucks fans wanting to know my source, who was involved, how the two teams could talk during a lockout -- all legitimate questions for a deal of such magnitude. Obviously, neither team confirmed my story, nor should they. Quite frankly, without a CBA in place, trades can’t occur, and team officials publicly discussing any player transactions would result in some sort fine from New York. However, I have been told that the next time Roberto Luongo plays in the NHL, he will play for the Toronto Maple Leafs. It is from a reputable source. End of story. I do not know who or what he will be traded for, and believe it or not, I don’t think general managers Mike Gillis and Brian Burke know either. The rules of any new collective bargaining agreement will dictate the actual transaction. Common sense, which seems to be in great shortage these days, puts Luongo in Toronto for a few key reasons. The Leafs can handle his salary, and there is a huge need in Toronto for a veteran goaltender. The Leafs organization is very familiar with Luongo’s talent, ability and personality. It is an excellent fit. As I have said all along, the deal in place is all contingent on what the new CBA says. John Shannon is an analyst on Hockeycentral.

Totally agree!

LM Bass - Jig - Horny Toad SM Bass - XZone Slammers - XZone Swammers Walleye - Quinte Spring - Flicker Shads & Worm Harnesses Summer - Rapala Taildancers (TD7) Fall - Reef Runners (deep divers) & Yo-zuri Deep Crystal Minnows Walleye - Kawarthas Bucktails & Cranks
-
HH and FishnSled pretty much nailed it on the head there. I also run the Shimano TDR rods (9'0 MED), and run two Rapala Line Counters and two Shimano Tekota 300LC's with them. If you're going to troll on Quinte I HIGHLY RECOMMEND USING PLANER BOARDS to spread your baits out and away from the boat. Offshore Tackle planer boards are superior (IMO).

Actually, yes I can.... Hero2 - full 1080p @ 30fps video recording (Hero only has 960p) - 2x faster processor - much strong and better lens - 10 Photos Per Second Burst - 3 available photo resolutions: 11MP, 8MP, 5 MP (Hero only has 5mp) - Wi-Fi BacPac + Remote Compatible (Hero doesnt support) And I'm sorry but if a SALES REP trying to sell people camera's doesnt know the difference between an old model and a new one.. SHOULDN'T be working as a sales rep.

This is from the second link on the first page that was posted. "I'am the guy in the middle on the picture above. It was 58.0 lbs. and 59 inches long. I caught it on 8lb test line while fishing for big smallies on Bellaire. Took 2 hours and three guys to get it in the boat." Now...was he the only one fighting it, or did they take turns? Or Did he hook/fight it, and had help from the other two in landing it?
-
But in this case, didnt they say that it was a team effort, and all three had a hand in fighting/landing the fish? Does it go to the guy that "hooked" it?
-
Hahaha, not my species of target. Now, if it were a LM or SM....that's a whole different story!
-
Totally random question.... but IF this becomes a record... can more than one person's name be on it? Or would it technically be the person who "hooked" the fish?
-
lol... wow. She SHOULDNT be working there then. I have two Hero2's and have nothing but great things to say about them. Knock on wood... I haven't had a single issue with mine at all. Santa was already told that I wanted the Hero3 for xmas.... lets see if he listens!
-
Nobody has the Hero3 yet... its only been released to pre-order.

Alabama Rig - anyone doing anything with it?
Stoty replied to Harrison's topic in General Discussion
Paul Elias Write-up Breaking 100lbs for 20 fish and beating his nearest competitor by a mere 17 lbs....apparently he had a "lucky" 4 days.... There's a time and place for each lure, the Alabama rig is no different. I dont get why the A-rig gets so much more attention than any other bait. Most jerkbaits have 3 hooks, and can hook fish in multiple locations but its "ok" because it's a single body? -

ChrisMarkz... agree 100%. He caught over 102lbs of bass in a single tournament.... Mike - it's def more of a "fall bait" when the fish are schooling together chasing baitfish. -
