Dan Boy Unfortunately right along the shoreline of Grimsby there is not an abundance of shore fishing oportunities in my experience. I believe this is primarily due to the lack of structure to hold fish. It is pretty flat and sandy out there. Goby seems to be the only thing I have been able to catch from the shore. There was talk a few years back of attempting to construct an artificial reef off of the Old Pumphouse to try and attract Smallmouth Bass, however I havn't heard anything of this lately As Rizzo mentioned, Jordan Harbour hold some Bass and some panfish, catfish, carp etc. You used to be able to walk under the QEW bridge at Jordan Harbour Marina to access the inner harbour. if that is not available still, there is access off the South Service road a little bit farther east across the QEW from Charles Daley Park. You can usually find something to nibble there. Also...In Charles Daley Park, there is a landlocked pond that holds catfish. It is right down by the lakefront area of the park. Hope this helps in some way. Cheers Craig

Thx Gerritt Since i am back to square one then with a clear porch and clean slab, would it be your opinion that if the proper bonding agent was used, the job could still be done with the existing slab?. Obviously I am not holding anybody to a helpful opinion, just trying to sort out what i am going to do in my own mind. Cheers Craig
-
Solopaddler..Thanks for the response.... Drainage was never an issue. It was more that the material (mortar/portland or whatever he used) was not the proper material to use. The original poured slab is still in good condition and drains fine by itself. it is just unsightly and unfinished looking. Cheers Craig

Ok....It's obvious that there is alot of professional as well as life experience with the members of this board so i thought that I would throw this out. A few years ago, my wife an I wanted to do our front walkway and porch is flagstone. I was a bit short on free time so I hired someone to do the job. He poured a concrete slab for the front walkway and left the surface rough as he advised me the mortar and flagstone would adhere better to the rough surface. To keep a long story short, the flagstone and mortar held together nicely until the first winter came. After the winter, the flagstones (and mortar) began to break away from each other and the walkway/porch. I have since chiseled all of the flagstone and mortar of the porch and I am left with the original concrete porch and the pored concrete slab. Now to my question. Should I be busting out this concrete slab and starting from scratch or can I hire somebody who knows what they are doing to come and finish what we originally wanted (flagstone walk and porch). As well, should I be waiting until spring to have this done or is the weather still warm enough for this type of work. I am going to try attach a couple of pictures of the mess that I have right now to try and better illustrate the problem. Hope it works. Any and all opinions appreciated except for the shots at what I already realize was a bad choice in original contractors. lol Cheers and Thanks (Ps first shot at photos. I promise the next ones will have gills) Craig

Like Irishfield, I take along a good looking woman. Not so much for the company, but if I ever break down, nobody would ever stop and help if it were just my ugly mug in the boat. Cheers Craig

Way to go guys Misfish, I admire you fulfilling a dream and now moving on. Was tournament fishing not what you thought it would be or was only your intention to give it a crack and move on? Just curious. Cheers Craig

I find this thread interesting. Obviously there are two sides to the story. That of the Farmer and that of the unfortunate dog owners. Only these two parties will ever know the real story. What I find intersting is the media spin that is put on everyday stories and the reactions that it causes in everyday working people. I'm sure we can all sympathize with the farmer in certain situations and with the family pet owners in other situations depending on what spin the media puts on it. I guess in just generating conversation about the topic the media have achieved their goal. I take everything that the media reports to us with a grain of salt. Their job is to sell newspapaer/advertising. Hope this doesn't sound to paranoid. Cheers Craig

I've seen some locals catching what I believe were Bonefish on the lagoon side of Cancun, but never anything on the Ocean side. They were targeting the mangrove overhangs with small plugs. Craig

Getting to be that time again Beans. I actually called and booked my January Ice fishing trip on Nip last week.

Trout / Salmon Report & POACHERS CAUGHT ON FILM
Sandbag replied to ranger520vx's topic in General Discussion
Although some people don't believe there is sufficient evidence there for charges to be laid, I would disagree. The photos you have obtained certainly will assist in identifying the pair which is usually the most difficult part of a prosecution. The photos's, coupled with a detailed statement from yourself as to what you observed them doing is no doubt sufficient evidence for charges to be laid. I applaud your efforts as I'm sure every other "Sportman/Sportswoman" on this board will Well done Craig -
20 Foot Aluminum Boat Missing - Lake O - Grimsby area
Sandbag replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
Ya....paper is reporting that they believe it was a hoax as nobody has been reported missing. I can't understand what someone is thinking if they call in something like that as a hoax. If they find out who it was, I hope they send them the bill for the rescue efforts, not to mention the lives they endangered with this so called "prank" Craig -
Can't help with the Reg., however the entrance to Petro Canada Park is just north of Rebecca Street. Craig

I usually use a coleman stove on the seck or in the garage during the cold weather. Have been doing it for years. i find when deep frying, it's not so much the fish that smells, but the oil. Craig
