My son's team has made the finals in Oakville this coming weekend so a trip to the Muskie Odyssey is likely. Do many/any lure vendors take credit or debit cards?
-
My photo weighed 7.2 lbs

Had a add some key details that were omitted. lol
-
Not this year. Maybe Muskie Odyssey in part b/c we might be in Oakville for hockey that weekend anyway.
-
I've also found that the drag with the bow mount trolling motor down gives me more speed options between the drift socks and wind/current. Sometimes that third of a kilometre difference matters to the fish or that action of the lure.

I'll take yours then Chris.

I'm making molds right now from some rubber gloves. Triathlete recounts 'mistaken Muskie attack' in Lake St. Clair: https://windsor.ctvnews.ca/windsor-ironman-triathlete-recounts-mistaken-muskie-attack-in-lake-st-clair-1.5549178

Pike question… Young and old together?
kickingfrog replied to Raycaster's topic in General Discussion
Not sure what the pike situation on Balsam is specifically but, generally yes. The bigger pike get the more they will seek out cooler water in the summer while smaller pike will hang out shallower. Also since big pike will eat small pike they tend to not want to hang out with the big boys and girls. -
It's been a long time.....some fish pics!

Would a knot on the end of a rope work?

Two weeks on 2 lakes. We whacked the smallmouth on topwaters but only had some random esox when I wasn’t trying. My brother's dock pike had a lamprey on it. Over 80 inches of esox caught on 5 and a half inches of lures while trolling for walleye.

All day there have been storm watches. They marched down from northern Ontario. Every satellite image had it. I went fishing this morning and got back in time for brunch and watched the storm dance across the lake. Pumped the boat out this afternoon and went back out.

Good. More for me to miss this fall. lol

Nice. See any birds on your way in?

Not sure if this has been brought up here before but I just saw this and figured that we have a few guys who skip across and fish US waters along the boarder: US law for US waters when on plane: Under a new federal law effective April 1, 2021, those piloting boats less than 26 feet in length are required to use their engine cut-off switches (ECOS) much of the time. That means wearing a lanyard—aka ECOS link—while at the wheel. (Formerly referred to as, “kill switches,” the term engine cut-off switch, or ECOS, is the preferred nomenclature, whether referring to engine-cut-off switches operated by a physical lanyard or any of several electronic solutions.) https://www.boatingmag.com/story/how-to/new-boating-law-requires-use-of-engine-cut-off-switches/

How are boats nowadays for accurate fuel gauges for built in tanks? My only experience is 70's and 80's boats and those gauges were terrible.

Oh the choices. Wider heavier boat may not be as fast/efficient (although bigger max hp would take care of the speed.) Wider boat would be nice it you have more than yourself in the boat, but if you are mostly solo as you said the smaller boat just might make everything that little bit easier. Too bad we can't test drive boats the way we do cars. Boat v boat performance and different size motors on the same boat to make the best comparisons.

For reference I have a 16 foot princecraft side console with a 50hp 4 stroke Johnson (2003). Three days of running and trolling on Nipissing this spring and when I went to add gas to the tank before going out this week I couldn't even add 10 litres to the tank. The motors are so efficient that a tank that size is fine (I would think that today's engines are even better than one that is almost 20 years old). I do have a second tank that I bring sometimes if I'm remote and/or I'm worried about finding no-ethinol gas. For me I like having 2 tanks rather than one big one b/c I don't have to worry about old gas.

Lots of comfortable traditional jackets now. Fishing ones are good but I too preferred a paddling style vest. Best to get to a store that has a bunch and try them on. I've used an auto inflate for 7-8 years now. I've replace the cartridge twice and each time I've jumped in the water to see how the old one would do. Zero issues going off.

How many gazelles do you think it could find here?
-
Just thought I'd add to this after getting around to replacing my side "guide" bunks this spring. I used the same outdoor carpet that I had left over from doing the bunks (mentioned below) that was black. In more stained lakes and after sunset when pulling the boat they are very hard to see. It's not a big deal but the light grey carpet was much easier to see. I might spray some white paint on the top of the carpet to make it stand out that little bit to make it easier.

Walleye weren’t biting worms or minnows

I don't wear them except fishing and hunting. That was a Bass pro purchase.
