OK despite the smartass tone of your responses you guys do have a point with the number of trucks out there. But what about the resale value? Let's hear how you explain that. There's no comparison in resale value. That definately speaks volumes about the trucks.
-
Check out the "Truck Trader" and see how many domestics (GM, Ford, Dodge) are for sale compared to the imports (Toyota, Nissan). Probably about 10:1 ratio that says something about owner satisfaction. Also check out the resale value of the domestics as opposed to the imports. The imports definately hold their value. The domestics do not. That says alot also. There are stories of lemons and of great vehicles on both sides of the fence. But I think the lemons are rare with the imports just as the great vehicles are rare with the domestics. Either way, I'll never buy GM junk again....ever!

I'm with Tizfun and Buster on this one. None of my money will ever go to GM again.....except for when the gov't steals it from us to give to them.

I disagree with the comments that your water will seep out into the aquafer. We had a few dry summers on our farm when our dug well went dry. It was common for folks in the area to have water shipped in by tank truck during these dry spells. They would empty their truck on the grass beside the well and the next day the well would be full and the level only went down with normal water use. I believe they told us that they never would dump water directly into a well. I'm no expert on the subject and I'm not trying to start a flame war or anything....I'm just relating my experiences.

Hey Rob, I would stick with the Mitchell. I have two older 300's and they both are workhorses. Maybe not as smooth as some of the high end reels, but they are cheap and they work great for years. Mine are both over 20 years old and still work great. Sorry to hear you lost your combo, dude that sucks!

No needles for this guy. The one and only year my wife, daughter and I did get the flu vac was the worst year for flu sickness we have ever had. That same year I had the worst flu (lasted for over a week) that I have ever had in my life. Haven't had the flu vac since then and haven't had the flu since then. According to some, myself and others of my ilk are not very intelligent. I wasn't going to comment on anybody's intelligence level, but since that can of worms has been opened I'll just say that I wouldn't trust anybody associated with anyone in government. But apparently there are lots of suckers who do. In regards to passing it on to the young and old.....my daughter is more likely to bring home a flu bug than me or my wife (I work out of my home office and my wife is a stay-at-home mom). Have a nice day, hope nobody gets H1N1.

Quicke....everyone stop what you're doing and run to the hills.......run for your lives....the world is ending, the world is ending............ How many of you global warming/climate change experts have stopped driving your gas guzzling SUV's towing your gas guzzling motor boats? Have you stopped heating your homes? Whether heating with electricity or gas or oil you are leaving a footprint. What about driving your car to work. C'mon, move closer to work so that you can walk and save the planet. And shut down all those computer networks that are draining electricity and burning coal-fired electricity generating plants. Oh wait, that's exceptable because we gotta work and we gotta play. Here's a better idea.....let's just raise taxes significantly and gouge the taxpayer even more......that will fix everything. I guess if it's OK to call people who disagree with you "idiots" (as has been done by PT) I'll wade into the fray and speak my mind. Anyone who thinks this is all about climate change/global warming is an idiot. This is all about draining what's left of the taxpayer's disposable income. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool. And there's an old saying that goes "A fool and his money is soon parted". Only problem is the fools will cause the rest of us to pay also. Sad, very sad. -
I typically try to refrain from responding to snide comments from those that have shown themselves in the past to be left-leaning tree-hugger liberal types, but here goes: I checked the gr 11 physics and gr 12 biology books and nowhere did I find any info stating that fish species had large oversized cavernous huge abdominal spaces to house "loosely" arranged organs. In fact I saw something that eluded more to fish being structured very tight and streamlined leaving little room for organs to be displaced. It did not mention anything about abdominal spaces at the rear of the fish where displaced organs could move to. Mr. Salvalinus, there are many scientists and biologists in the world and they all have opinions on things scientific or biological. Many of those opinions differ, some very widely. Take the debate over climate change for a prime example. So their findings need to go thru peer reviews and stuff like that. This is done to prevent speculation from becoming fact. Believe it or not, there is incompetence in every walk of life....there has to be safeguards. There has never been a peer reviewed study done on the effects of holding a fish vertically. For every anecdotal story claiming this hold has negative effects there is a story about the complete opposite. For example, I have pics of a huge 51lb. muskie taken from a body of water that rarely produces fish even close to that size. It was caught during the hot weather, in shallow water, fought for an extended period of time on bass tackle, held both vertically and horizontally for pics with two different guys holding the fish, meaning the fish endured some extended air time. It had very few teeth left and had distinct markings including a deformed fin. It was succesfully released. Many would argue that fish would be dead in a few hours. However, this very old toothless one-finned wonder-fish was re-caught a year later and although seemingly very healthy when re-caught, it unfortunately died because the suick that the guy caught it on was swallowed with the fish's mouth clamped down. The pictures clearly showed it was the same fish. In fact this particular story suggests that the simple act of fishing in the first place is probably more detrimental to fish populations than how you hold the fish. While this doesn't "prove" anything, it certainly debunks claims such as "A vertically held fish is a dead fish". That, BTW, is an actual quote from one of the half dozen or so scientists and biologists that are quoted in the 2004 M. Butler "vertical hold" article that Marc referred to. Doc, you forgot to comment on the possible effects of a hand pushing up into the abdominal cavity and bruising organs during a horizontal hold. You also forgot to comment on the effects a fish might feel after being hooked by a lure travelling at 6mph. BTW, I didn't see anything about those things in the school books either. My suggestion to you and others of your ilk....heed what one of this board's most intelligent and insightful men said. "Hold your fish the way you want and let others hold their fish the way they want."
-
Great! Now can you link us to their study? Thanks!
-
Legend in my own mind haha! You want me to whittle you a lure?
-
C'mon out in the boat someday with me and I'll put you onto a few. It's been a few years since I talked to him but last time I checked M. Butler was not a biologist.
-
I heard that!

Hi Roy, not the part about the weight being less in water....that's a no-brainer. I'm talking about the claims that are started with "OK here's the biology of it" but have yet to be backed up by science and are presented as undeniable fact, such as the claim that the fishes organs are "forced down into the rear of the abdominal cavity, stressing the heart and causing serious damage". Besides what about a horizontal hold that pushes those same organs up into the middle of the fish. I'm not expecting to see Rick reference any studies because there are none! Period. GCD, don't expect any speculation or responses to your idea that hooking a fish with a 6mph trolled lure can harm the fish because I've made that same arguement before and have never had a response. I guess it's easier for the h-hold proponents to ignore things that don't agree with their position than it is to debate them.
-
Hi Rick, could you please refer to the scientific study that verifies all of this. Thanks!

They're so cute when they're sleeping. Sorry....I just had to!!

Haha good one Raf but....I'd much rather listen to a bunch of 60-year old former rock icons playing music that is actually good than all the "drop-D" regurgitated record industry Nickelback clones. But to each his own.... Let's see how popular "Theory of a Puddle of Mudd 3 Doors Down" is in 20 years.

That kind of thinking is what got us the tax burden we have now.....and will let things continue to get worse in the future.

The thing everyone will come to realize at some point in their life is that ALL politicians are working for big business and big business don't give a crap about anyone but themselves and their bottom line. Conservative....Liberal....NDP.....all one and the same. After their nasty and hateful debates they all go to the taxpayer funded restaurant at parliament hill together for lunch. They give you a choice to make you think you are making a difference. Anyone who still believes that politicians are there to help the people have been caught up in their grand scheme. Everyone used to laugh at Lundboy, but if you even read just a few of the links he provided you would start to see how the whole thing operates. BUT....it's easier not to take the time to read those links and to cry "conspiracy theorist".......and that's exactly how politicians/big business want you to react. They wouldn't wield as much power if we all weren't such a bunch of sheep.

Sounds like the local marine supply is trying to sell you some charts. I've never been asked to produce charts while boating.

Just from the posts so far, it appears that most of the people who have 1st hand or 2nd hand experience living down there have given you a fair warning and have said to look very seriously at the situation before making a decision, offering their own experiences to back up what they're saying. I'm not trying to sound condescending but, most of the people who are saying "go for it" seem to have little or no experience living there and have offered no info on living there. I think that should tell you something. Also, are you the type that seeks world-wide life experiences? Or more of a home-body? Not everyone relishes in world travel and not everyone looks at life as a journey that must be fulfilled to acheive happiness. Not everyone has the need to experience the cultures of others. Only you can make that decision for yourself. Good luck in whatever you do BBR

Keep on jigging....very versatile bait, you can't go wrong. I think it was Al Lindner who once said that if he could only have one lure type it would be jigs.
-
Nice jerkbait, should attract some hungry gators! Personally, I would go with bigger hooks and hardware. Even some of the smaller muskies would bend and twist those hooks.
