A pelican took my shrimp on Charlotte Harbor pier. Took the entire spool. I should have cut it right away. Limited out on clams in Nippissing with a worm harness, the first few I thought what's the odds snagging a clam perfectly? then after 6 more I realized they are actually hitting the hook. A small shark took a Redfish that I had caught in Pt. Charlotte as well and held on for 5 minutes, left the head.

Keys are very important and putting in the plug would be good. I found out this year my spare key does not work, try the spare key.
-
I do charge each separately without disconnecting, a new hood ornament may be in order when the budget allows. Thanks all.

Thanks all, I went to do the dishes and bang, 6 replies. You are all the best. I have it wired as in Terry's second diagram. Engine positive to battery 1, engine negative to battery 2. Jumper from battery 1 negative to battery 2 positive. Correct? I charge red charger to red on battery 1 and black charger to black on battery 2, yes?

Have all safety equipment on board for boat size. Federal registration for boat onboard. Trailer ownership in tow vehicle. Boat operators card on board. Grease all engine fittings, marine grease.. Check all engine wiring. Check plugs. Check bottom end oil on outboard, 2 stroke oil level. Find keys from last year. Run engine at home. Try spare key. Extra 2 stroke oil in boat. Check all trailer lights for operation. Check trailer tires, condition, pressure, wheel nuts, bearing buddies. Grease wheel bearings, marine grease. Check bolts on trailer bunks. Unlock lockers. Test trolling motor. Run kicker. Fuel full. Net on board. Long nose pliers on board. Water, food. Check opener isn't the 22nd. This June has 5 Saturdays. (Won a few bets on that one this year) Go get em!!!!!!!! Oh, because your so exited don't forget tackle in truck, oh yes I did after my 2 page check list.

May I ask what is the difference between 2/ 12 volts in parallel vs. in series? And what is the proper wiring for both. I'm the guy that needs an electrician to change the batteries in my flashlight! I might not have it correctly done. This would be for my 24 volt MotorGuide trolling motor which isn't performing correctly. What is the proper method, parallel or in series? Installed 2 new deep cycle batteries and the unit isn't responding as it should be. It might be time to put a new hood ornament on the wish list. While I'm at it what is the proper charging procedure, what battery does the charger hook up to, does it mater ? I have a smart charger set for 5 amps I believe. Don't have the charger with me today to check positively. One of my usual suspects says they should be disconnected and charged individually. I never have.

Good luck in your search I'm very interested to know what you find. A few years back a manager at CTC told me to save my money on a 20v charger. I appreciated his honesty or maybe he was tired of putting them back into stock. I would need something for 24v as well.

I just bought the 597 combo because they threw in the Navionics card at Proctor Marine in Simcoe, I had a Garmin and the Garmin software was very good. For your budget and the research I did the 597 hdci was my choice after much looking. I was going to go with the Elite 7 before this Hummingbird came on sale.

I love the boat, after all it's a Starcraft! I'll give you a pass on the F 150.

A very serious walleye guy that lives here on the north shore won't think about going out for them until the end of July at the earliest. Then it's downriggers and planner boards and occasionally dipsys. And they go deep, 80 feet. I have been told they are in the western basin and migrate to this end in July. Ted says looking for them now is going for a ride in the boat. The odd Grand River fish can be had this time of year, and when lucky can limit out when everything is perfect. There are definitely walleye in the Grand, catching them is another story. Just this past April I personally saw a container full of 5 pounders at Riverside Marina taken from below the dam at Dunnville that were being relocated to above the dam by a local fish club.

I am not understanding why Cabelas hasn't setup shop here too. Not that I don't like BPS, but Cabelas has stuff to offer that I'd be interested in too that BPS doesn't. Plus healthy competition is good for us all. . This is similar to a thread on the same subject a few months ago. As I said then I won't drive to Toronto unless I absolutely have to catch a plane. Most folks from Burlington to the Niagara river agree even with the average bridge wait time it's not worth grinding through that TO mess. The new store's address is NOTL and is located at the east end of the Garden City Skyway where the old horse track was which most of us believe is St. Kitts.

I'm the kind of guy that had to call the electricians to change the batteries in my flashlight at work. Just this year when I replaced the battery my bilge no longer worked. Forgot to put the wires onto the battery posts, they were jammed somehow below the battery tray. Sometimes it's the silliest things. Possible? Yes I towed the boat into Don Hyde marine to have them check it out, took them a record 2 minutes, no charge just a good laugh.

Looking for lake Erie perch update
Old Ironmaker replied to sneak_e_pete's topic in General Discussion
Things have been slow at that end of town. They seem to be hanging out at PT. Bruce in 35 to 50 feet of water. Go to Stomps Long Point Forum, channel 6-8 fishing reports. http://www.longpoint.on.ca/forum/index.php?forums/fishing-reports/ -
I'm Johnny D and my exclusive Meat in the Pan Wormharnesses have yet to be marketed to the public, I don't know how to use those laughing, winking smiley guys!

Try one of the Asian markets on or around York Boulevard in Hamilton, I kid you not. Bring a picture of a leach, there are language barriers when I shop for things at these markets often. OOps.

I have a smile ear to ear. This video lived up to it's title and I actually watched the entire thing. Yes these guys are certifiably nuts. Notice the yellow first aid kit on a rock on the left bank? Maybe your supposed to grab it on the way bye. Now if this was an event in the summer Olympics I would actually watch, these guys are the real deal kayakers. -
Rich I have a 13 foot Sea Eagle 2 I got from my Uncle about 5 years ago. He had it for at least 15 years. When I received it the thing was mint. I made one mistake, I deflated it one winter. Now it's not mint. But those things are for putting around from the dock to the yacht or weekend put puts. He babied the thing, he had it hanging in his shop and checked the pontoon pressures every week with that sizing gauge on the pontoons, I don't know if they still use that system. It must be cleaned very carefully. I can't remember exactly how but there is a list of products that are a no no. He cleaned it with mild soap and water every time it came out of the water, never power washed it like I did apparently not a good thing as it can separate the seams.. Never beached it, sand and pebbles apparently is like rubbing sandpaper on a Sea Eagle. Also the weight maximums was for 350 pounds or so, I know we maxed out at over 400 easily. He would ask you how much you weighed and if the weight was over no ride in the PT109 He was anal with the thing and it's condition showed it. Knowing how you pound the water daily you have probably 10 years on it in dog years. The list of don'ts is a long one. Talk to them but I wouldn't tell them it was a daily driver. They just aren't meant to be used daily for hard fishing. It's not a Zodiac. Good luck.

9 year olds attention spans are about 5 minutes. I would suggest stocked ponds for a little guy to get him hooked. Many a kid has packed in fishing because they sure get bored quickly. I don't know of any pay and play ponds near you but it's your best bet. A conservation area would be good as well, as long as there are fish to be caught. Bring a ball with you.

Great thread Dave. You have put much time and effort into it. I wonder how many products from the original thread from 2010 have now out sourced off shore now ?. Many I believe if they are in the business to make money which ultimately the goal of every business, well most businesses. Would you feel any Steel coming from Arcelor Mittal or US Steel here in Ontario not considered Canadian? I would, 99% of the staff are Canucks as well as the ancillary suppliers employees. Anyone that wouldn't buy from other than from a wholly owned Canadian company will be shopping for quite a while unfortunately. What about Johnny D's Meat in The Pan Worm Harnesses, made right here in Selkirk On. Sorry too expensive.

Ok, your photoshop skills are amazing. I'm jealous. Jackall Cherry O, never heard of one or seen one until tonight. Am going out to Bills Bait tomorrow I hope the guys have them. They look like they would be great for Bass. Great fish and it looks like a great bait as well. Which one did you use the 48 or 52 or ? While I'm at it what colour as well? Can't hurt asking.

Your favourite method for sharpening filet knives
Old Ironmaker replied to Joeytier's topic in General Discussion
I have a 30 year old Rappala knife that works 12 months a year. I don't agree they are garbage. Maybe the knives sold today, certainly not those from 30 years ago. The blade is almost gone now. I have a pal sharpen all my knives for me and use the steel on it every time used, I don't know what he uses but you can shave a baby's bum with it, I'll ask him. Sometimes use the steel on it more than once during the job. -

Art, An excellent description of the basic metallurgy behind a sharp knife, well done. -
I don't think it would be considered waste as far as the regs go. The best way to deal with that is to educate them. Show how easy is to get the most out of the fish. If he did this on this occasion you can bet it's not his first or last rodeo. I do have a fishing buddy that is continually leaving the belly on walleye and pike. He is a surgeon when it comes to filleting fish, it's just being lazy and am continually giving him sh$#t. He says that's where the toxins are. I eat a walleye or pike maybe once a year, it's not going to hurt. It just drives me bonkers to waste good meat. It's not just fish, when I hunted guys were always cutting the breasts out of a duck and chucking the rest. Laziness. Show him if there is a next time. That's how I would handle it. There is no cure for being lazy.
