  2. Yes and no. It's a problem, undeniable. But it's on par with the rest of the country. It's just perception that makes it seem worse.

And reservations are akin to tiny governments ruling over small amounts of people. It's really no different than our government, it's just more noticeable because of the small scale of it. Easier to notice an issue in 1000 person community then a 6million person community.

I will say, RRFN treaty 3 is ran pretty awesome! I have full trust in our chief as he has proven time and time again to be for the community and has a remarkable track record in being a great human.

All our financial records are are disclosed to the public monthly, the. A meeting for the community to discuss spending, funds allocation etc are up for discussion.

Wanna work? All it takes is saying "yes I wanna work". He will find anything for you to do. Usually something like visiting and helping out elders. Community clean ups, infrastructure repair etc.

There is literally no racism on our res. I'd know. I'm the only white guy there. And I've never been subjected to any racism, in fact I was welcome with open arms. Given ample opportunity to participate in prayers and community events, even traditional practices.

Wanna sell drugs on our Rez? You'll be BCRd, convicted of any violent act including domestic abuse? BCRd, no room for any. Final behaviour on our Rez.

I could go on and on, but it's quite remarkable.

And when hydro rates skyrocketed, we built a solar farm. No everyone has free electricity, plus it employed half the community with good paying jobs.

All the access money is transferred into accounts, for who??? Our children. Every excess dollar goes into trust for every child born of treaty 3.

It's really amazing to watch/be apart of

    Thank you for sharing.

  3. This is a sad documentary of past treaties.

The Res Police are sworn in as Police.

Start Policing and I mean start by hunting these thieves down and arresting them. (After reading about the number of vehicles the Tow operator has to pick up, IMO someone on that Res is looking the other way.)

Further, the Chief of any Res that knows and condones this type of activity should be arrested and charged. He/She should be outraged and embarrassed by a small faction of Native Canadians on that or any Res where this is taking place.

Dan, I feel for ya. It's happened to me. Stick to your guns and keep us updated.

  4. Tags - with your name/address etc are required if your trapping Bait Fish with a Bait trap. I was hassled once and threaten with a ticket. Didn't take me long to mark it.

Someone knows something. There should be a sizable reward for Tips to motivate people to report these Sub Humans.

I truly hope the law catches whoever is responsible and the perps are jailed big time.

  5.

    I only get natural gas.

I thought that was why Kate wanted the carbon tax hidden in the delivery charges, so she could tax the tax.

Wait till you see the electric bill without provincial tax.

My bet is that its only taken off the actual electric used, not delivery or global rectification charges or whatever they call that crap.

oh great. That bill will be here next weekend. You are well aware that now that CT has been implemented and can and it will be raised as needed for our provincial coffer. We are so screwed.

  6. Dara

I just received my propane bill.

I was led to believe that the Carbon Tax applied to my bill was not to be taxed (pst). Now I'm a little perplexed to the point of becoming very upset. The Carbon Tax was not a huge amount ($11.00) - but then it was added to pro/lr and delivery charges and the total taxed.

This is a scam. I have had it with the people that are "hired" by the electorate. Wynne's pretty cool and a proven liar/Trudeau - I can't wait to see his Carbon Tax roll out.

GMech Thank you for the link

  7. I echo most posters reading this thread.

I'm a newbie to the board, but read many posts as time will allow. (I am on board on a daily basis)

If I have something that I think the members will enjoy reading or looking at pic's - for sure it will be posted. Alas, I have had nothing worthy of a post (yet)........lol

From the Admin to the members, Thank you for making this forum possible.

  8. My advice use a good self etching primer. It has acid in it to make a good bond and contact and will prevent the paint from bubbling and peeling in a year. I wouldn't bother trying to get a spray can of paint matched by your paint code 9 times out of 10 it will be off and it will be about $40 bucks a can. Just match it up as close as you can at Napa or Crappy Trash.

    Korber is correct.

Buy the best etching primer. Paint choice (Napa/CT) - that's up to you. If the boat is less than 3 years old I would opt for the factory paint.

  9. I found this line interesting:

quoting:A large female sturgeon can carry up to 100 pounds of eggs, meaning one fish could be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The perps had 20lbs of eggs and 4lbs of S Meat and were fined 20M +.

    what the hell Big Deal.

That fine should have been financially devastating to these crooks and their lic's revoked for life + jail time. That meat came from a dead sturgeon/eggs. What a crock this province has become.

Thanks to a very well written article (No Offense to the author) current and future crooks have now been made aware that a female sturgeon can carry up to 100lbs of eggs and according to the cops potentially worth "hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Duh.........a 20M dollar fine is peanuts to these crooks - merely a cost of doing their crooked business.

  10. Phone and speak to the Administrator or the DRC (Director of Resident Care).

    Lodge a complaint because,

Every Resident of a Long Term Care Facility have Rights, under the Long Term Home Care Act.

If your brother is competent, they have NO rights to deny your phone call to him.

Inform the Administrator that you will be calling at a specific time TODAY and expect to speak to your brother.

Lastly if this is a Long Term Care Facility (not a Retirement Home) file a complaint with the MOH (Ministry of Health) and LTC (Long Term Care).

If you receive NO satisfaction today pm me and I will assist. If you require Phone Number(s) I will help you.

  11.

    Rental agreement states:

Boat removal is based on a mutually agreed date, providing there is reasonable access to the boat.

When I entered into the agreement I told him the only reason I was storing the boat was because of the renovations. He asked how long I thought I would need his services. A month or two? I said "you might as well keep it over the Winter that way I'm sure everything will be done. I'll just pick it up in March". There was no hesitation on his part.

Sadly I've been dealing with this same guy for many years. Spent a lot of money there. He's a reputable dealer.

First time I've had any grief. But, it will be the last.

Perhaps I'm naive, but I don't think access should ever be an issue. It should be up to them to maintain reasonable access. The real issue is the fact that they are greedy pigs. Overfill the space and then say "sorry 'bout your luck".

A crock and a half of you know what!!!!!

Speed reading this thread - again on the re-read I learned its' "a reputable dealer".

I would be p*ssed as the OP is.

I can relate to last in first out in most storage facilities, but I'm a little concerned when I read words like "jammed in". Fire comes to mind.....

  12. This is becoming stupid.

    I am disgusted.

Increases (Hydro) that this Party of the People throws at us Ontario folk to cover the shortfall of their ineptness and dubious decisions the past 5 years. They screw up and we pay.

Those who voted Liberal must be in awe.................or asleep.

Now gas at 4.3 cents per litre + $5 for Natural....................

It's becoming increasingly difficult to live in the province of my birth, where my beloved parents are at rest because reality with this Government is clearly more absurd than any fiction imaginable. I'm beginning to think Liberalism is a mental disorder.

  13. I know were dealing with a attempted truck theft and the thief lost his life.

So too has the shooter. It's basically over for him for the next decade or longer.

He most likely loose his house, his job, his good name, his credit rating and god knows what else.

Within a split section a decision to shoot and possibly take a life has taken his.

A few years ago my wife and I were awakened by a pounding on our side door.

I got up and demanded to know what the person wanted. Just as the words were coming out of my mouth, he starts pushing in on the door - I yelled for my wife to dial 911. He must of heard that but a minute later he's now at our sliding door off the deck. I grabbed a knife and was prepared - this guy was intent on getting in - and I was scared.

My neighbor across the street woke up hearing the pounding and the screaming. He appeared with rifle in hand and the guy took off dropping his phone on the road.

(During the 1st door and the slider, the operator was online with my wife. She could hear the noise and the yelling.)

The OPP arrived 40 minutes later and the officer looked disinterested. Since it was snowing he said "no need it's a waste of time fingerprinting"............huh.

He grabbed the cell phone and left.

(Our house is 20 minutes from the main OPP headquarters in Orillia.)

I lost a lot of faith that night - not just in the officer that arrived, but the whole department.

  14. I would do a bit of research and see if it would benefit you to switch your dryer and water heater to gas, those two are both extreme power hogs.

Agreed Fisherman. The dryer is on it's last legs and the replacement will be gas. Not sure what to do with the tank as of yet. It's 2 yrs old. As for the stove, same as the dryer and the new one will be gas.

  15. We live in Simcoe County. 1200 sq ft house. Our Hydro averages $125.00 per month year round - electric dryer, electric hot water tank, electric stove, 2 freezers and deep well pump. I'll add, we really monitor the times when we use the washer and dryer along with most everything else on hydro.

Propane to date (since top up in October) $1020 with thermo set at 68 evenings and 72 daytime.

Water - we have our own deep well - subdivision next to us pay min of $80 per month.

  16. Sinker is correct. My wife Susan and I fished Last Saturday and Sunday (same area) 2kms out of Beaverton Harbor. 34 fow both days. No dinks - everything we caught ranged from 10 to 14".

We released 2 - 14" - the 3rd blew the bladder so no go.

We started with jigs 1st - nothing. We switched to minnows and in they came.

We were approx 500 meters from FHales farthest huts out.

  17. i like the drum better because it gives a nice starlight effect on the sides, we had one in my backyard growing up, now i want one for my backyard

I really like the drum. Picked up a stainless from one of the second hand appliance stores on Queen St between Dufferin and Shaw - I think it was called Royal Appliances. Charged me $10.00. Works like a charm. Call around before you drive - yellow pages are your best friend.
