  1. RIght on guys!!!!! I went out twice on saturday - first time I caught 1 stinkin' sucker and lost a steelie....second time 2 for 5 on the suckers and no steelies to be had! hwell...better luck next time....thanks for the report!!! UF
  2. Hey dude! I grew up in sudbury but unfortunatly all the places I know of require a set of wheels to get to! Never really fished ramsey....many friends have and have done well.....my friends father used to catch a ton of wallaye off the rocks @ science north, years ago - before they put up the boardwalk....not sure how it's been since...... Good luck and let us know how it goes!!!! UF
  3. Sure do! I think I kept 6 out of a hundred last summer....but I do lov'em! Never tried largemouth though.....actually, I think i've only ever caught..maybe a dozen in my life...never really fished largies before.... UF
  4. RIGHT ON CC! I'm goin out for the next four mornings!!!! can't wait...hopefully i'll land my first steeeeelie... thanks for the report, UF
  5. Sudbury Ontario Born and Raised! My old man and Mike are buddies that grew up on the same street and played hockey together..my dad was almost the highest point getter of the season once but only because if he touched the puck before Mike scored he got an assist! haha Anyways, I now live in Mississauga and regret that I didn't make it out for a game, but enjoyed watchin them on TV! GO WOLVES GO! UF
  6. right on guys, considering the canoe is free I might as well give it a shot before I go out and purchase something else......unless I find a CRAZY deal on something used......I don't have a whole lot of experience with canoes - so I might not even find it comfortable without him.....my last boat (before I spent all my money on school) was a 16 foot aluminum so it's gonna be a tight squeeze compared to what I'm used to. I just can't handle being stranded on shore another summer! I really do appreciate all the tips and Ideas! I'll have to take a camera along with me! cheers, UF
  7. T.J. - haha This is why I'm doing some research..... Terry - I have a pretty limited budget....I'm pretty sure you want more than I can afford even though it's a deal! Muskiestudd - I found a few pages on the net with some info on how to train your dogs to get used to the canoe....seems like it could be an option but I guess I won't know until I try! He's already met his fair share of fish and doesn't really care for them....just the ducks! haha Thanks UF
  8. Kev - yeah I don't wanna go for a swim quite yet.....I fell in last spring and man was it cold!!!! CCMT - he hates swimming - he'll play in shallow water but won't go in past his "elbows".... he has fallen in off the edge a few times reaching out for the ducks though....pretty funny sight - but not if I go along with him! haha If anybody else has experience the input would be great!!!! Thanks guys! UF
  9. haha thanks Kevin, I don't think it's for sale - he won't let go of it but he know's he won't use it, so he said he'd give it to me for as long as I'd need it......... My beagle isn't so much hyper...but when we shore fish he likes to give the ducks/swans a hard time so I feel like he might lean over the edge from time to time......if there's not birds around he'll just take a nap...he gets bored easily.... Cheers, UF
  10. welcome aboard dude! don't get caught "using" at work! cheers, UF
  11. Hey all, I've been in the market for a boat for a while now, trying to figure out the best option for me right now. I wanted a Bass Tender, but then moved to a place that doesn't have a garage or safe place to keep it. I then opted for a small jon boat but might have a hard time getting it onto the roof of my car (alone) - 87lb fiance isn't much of a lifter..... My other option is that my father has a square sterned canoe back home with my name all over it, but I'm a little concerned about taking my beagle out fishing in a canoe with me. He's pretty hiper!!!! Any chance of tipping going on? I'd concider a folding boat but they're way beyond my current budget and I don't like the idea of an inflatable with hooks and claws flying around! haha thanks for any ideas! Cheers, UF
  12. Hey leafland! wish I could help you out with the weekend spots, but i'm new to this area of ontario myself. I can tell you though that there are plenty of places you can take the kids for the afternoon right in Brampton or elsewhere in the GTA. For example, I've personally managed a few bass and carp from proffessors lake. It sure isn't lake Nipissing (grew up fishing the west arm) but it makes for a great family outing. The government also puts out a guide of "urban fishing opportunities" that'll tell you where you can catch fish right in the city with your kids! just a few thoughts! Good luck UF
  13. wow - right no CC - nothing compared to my sucker though! haha cheers, UF
  14. Hey all! Well we moved last weekend and even though our "new to us" townhouse needs alot of TLC I had to get out and try my new chest waders! Especially because the credit is almost in my backyard now! Headed out sunday night just before dark - it was tough because my eyelets were icing up, but it was nice to get out on the water... I love new the felt bottom waders... I was stickin' to the rocks like spiderman! Thanks again for all the tips from everybody on the board.... Now down to the fishing. I only stayed out for an hour or so, but I did manage my first fish of 2007 - a 2lb sucker! haha It's better than nothing - and at least I can say I caught a fish on my new steelhead combo! Here's the fish of the day! Cheers - and good fishin' UF
  15. best report I've read in a while! THANKS UF
  16. I've eaten them before.... they aren't bad except they have alot of tiny little bones in them that are IMPOSSIBLE to get out....heard if you score them every inch or so the oil will get in and dissolve the tiny bones but sure as poop we were pickin' bones out of our teeth all night!!!! Congrats on the new species! Cheers, UF
  17. hahaha that's awesome.. happy easter! UF
  18. Trilene XL smooth casting! I've also used 6lb Stren on my ultralight and I have to say I was impressed! Saved a few lures that got snagged in the trees across the creek! Cheers, UF
  19. had one, loved it - fell on some rocks and broke it in half... but it's a great rod! I even landed a 20 or so lb carp no problem! haha Cheers, UF
  20. I LOVE the PP and would go with it hands down on my baitcaster but I'm still getting used to it and boy when you birds nest your reel it's tough line to deal with, and expesive to cut off - so cheaper trilene smoothcast until I get the hang of my baitcaster. PP all the way on my medium/heavy spinning rig - use it as a main line for carp, tossing giant lures for fall salmon, or for throwing baits into heavy heavy weed cover... I'm curious to know if PP or other highly visible braids cause problems when fishing gin clear water...... I've got 8lb stren on my ultra light and have to say that it treats me well! Cheers, UF
  21. I'm not sure about that area, but the past three years going to school in london I was always able to get into the redhorse suckers by the end of march/beginning of april. I'm going to try for pike this weekend, and switch to suckers if the pike action isn't happenin'! Good Luck dude! UF
  22. in my dreams!!!! SWEET new toys... TUF
