As usual, you missed the point. I hope you're right that a rookie can carry the leafs to a cup all by himself cause that's their only hope at the moment.

Sid the kid was a nice addition to an already solid foundation including the likes of Malkin, Gonchar, Recchi, and Jordan Staal....he didn't change the course of history all on his own either.

One draft pick, be it 1st, 2nd or 5th is not going to change the world even if it is Conner McDavid. Take Edmonton for example....they have Hall, Eberle & Nugent-Hopkins and they are still struggling.

Here's a link where the topic is covered very thoroughly..... http://www.lakesimcoeoutdoors.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13745&hl=banana&st=15

So what do you suggest then if dogs and boobie traps are not an option?

Glen Echo is in the channel between Callander Bay and the Main lake which is a great location. If the lake it too rough you can almost always find somewhere in the bay that's out of the wind to fish. I have never stayed there but have visited and it's quite nice with decent cottages. Bayview Camp and Cottages is just a stone's throw away and it is also a very nice spot for a family vacation.

Lots of good suggestions but most of the stuff going on around here are daytime thefts when everyone is at work. I do have lots of motion detector lights that work great, there are very few places for people to hide around the buildings so that's not a big issue and we are normally home at night anyway. When there's few neighbours around the scoundrels really don't seem too scared to drive in in broad daylight and clean people out which is really my vulnerability. I think I like the camera idea as Big Cliff suggests....

We live in a rural area of Southern Ontario and there have been more and more daytime robberies of homes and garages lately in the 'hood so I am thinking it may be time to install a home security system. I'm not sure what the best way to go is and am debating between a camera system and an alarm system (dogs and booby traps are off the table). I would want to secure both the house and the shop which is a separate building but I do have a conduit buried between the building for cabling if necessary. My concern with the alarm system is all the exposed wiring and cost of monitoring/false alarm fees etc but I'm not sure how effective CCTV cameras really are. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What you giving your honey for Valentines Day

She told me she wanted me to be happy on Valentines Day so I got me a new drill press.......good idea? -
If you leave your boat parked for long periods or leave the batteries in during winter storage it's nice to know the cranking battery is being taken care of. It's the most important one on the boat in my mind. The added cost for the third bank isn't significant really but like you guys suggest, it's not a 'must have' I guess.
-
You need one bank for each trolling battery plus one for the starting battery to charge and maintain it too....plug it in and forget it. You can purchase cable extension kits for the one at the stern depending on which unit you decide on. 5A per bank (15A total) will charge your batteries overnight especially with the higher end models that self regulate.

Municipalities are already empowered to reduce limits where they see fit. Why does Kathleen feel the need to ram this down everybody's throat just because it may make sense in the big smoke??
-
I believe the proposal is to lower the default in town speed to limits to 40 km PROVINCE WIDE. Municipalities will have the option to change it but any unposted streets would become 40km. Thanks again granny government. Here's a link: http://www.thestar.com/news/queenspark/2015/01/29/queens-park-considering-lower-speed-limits-in-cities-and-towns.html

Forward him a link to this thread and when he sees how many people are reading about it he may re-think the fees....

We are in a 'underserviced' area which means that if you don't have a doctor, you go on a waiting list to get one and you take whoever they give you within your LHIN. If you are lucky enough to have a family doctor, you cannot change doctors. We used to be able to go to a walk-in clinic if necessary which eased the stress on the ER's but a few years ago that changed and now you cannot go to a clinic unless your family doctor is a 'member' of that clinic. I really don't understand the logic of this but the government says it was to ensure 'continuity of service' (i.e. you see the same doctor as much as possible). So, I was sick last January and I called the family doc who said he could see me in May. I told him that I was sick now and couldn't wait for four months and he told me my only option was to go to emergency. I went to the ER, saw a doc who sent me for an ultrasound which they in turn sent to my family doctor for him to follow up on and treat the blood clot in my leg....I'm still waiting without even a phone call returned (good thing thrombosis isn't serious). It eventually went away on its own thankfully. I actually haven't seen my doctor since 2006 and doubt I ever will again since the only time you can is if you're healthy enough to wait for his schedule to open up. My 'continuity of service' is kind of messed up under this new plan. This system is supposed to be the best in the world but it sure ain't working for me... I guess the point of my long winded post is that people like Cliff or others who are in need of care shouldn't feel guilty or awkward going to get looked at. The emergency rooms are stuffed with people, some who really need help, some who should be getting help elsewhere, and some who just want a hug and kleenex while others don't go because of the long waits or the fear that they're being a burden. How many people die at home of heart attacks for just this reason? Our system is broken and all the money that is being spent doesn't seem to get to where it needs to be.

He is on the ice 25 minutes a game because unfortunately he is their best defenseman....that is a huge problem all on it's own.

The Dodge trailering package is actually pretty decent. It includes pre-wired 7 pin & 4 pin outlets in the bumper, built-in brake control, electronic trailer sway control system, fancy ass trailering mirrors, and a Class IV receiver (but only Bighorn, Sport, & Express). That will teach me for going higher up the food chain. what the hell good is a trailering package without a hitch?? My bad for not reading the details carefully enough but it really seems dumb to me. Off to the Reese dealer at lunch I guess....

I finally picked mine up on Friday and it was quite cold both Friday and overnight Saturday. No issues starting whatsoever with the remote start, no smoke, no noise. It warms up very quickly and seems warm faster than the F150 did. I've only gone 200km so far and sat idling for long periods trying to figure out all the toys so it's kind of premature to judge fuel economy but it's averaged 10.1L/100km since I picked it up. I drove from Waterford to Hamilton today and it seems like it gets between 8.0 and 9.0 or so on the two lane highways but we'll see over time. It is a nice riding truck and has lots of nice features but it will take a bit of getting used to after 20+ years of Fords. I was flabbergasted to realize yesterday that the trailer towing package with all the bells and whistles doesn't include a trailer hitch.....go figure. The side mirrors are a huge improvement over the F-150 which I always hated.
-
But how is it when your husband drives it??? Just kidding barrysts; I couldn't resist! My last 2 F-150's both had 5.4 Tritons and neither could do better than 15.0 L/100km when babied and were over 20 L/100km towing my 18' boat. They didn't however use much fuel when they were in for repairs which was a good thing because they were there often; thank god for extended warranties. I have driven 8 Ford trucks over the last 20 years and couldn't have been happier but the last two are the end for me so I bought the new Laramie diesel. Hopefully I'm not disappointed...... time will tell. Also, when I traded in the F-150 the Dodge dude told me they would not accept it on trade if it had the Ecoboost; not sure why exactly but that's what I was told.
-
I just bought a new Laramie with the diesel and the upgrade was $4002 over the Hemi.
-
I guess my bill of sale and VIN nameplate is wrong then.....
-
I'm not sure where the payload numbers being quoted are from but I just picked up my new 2015 Laramie 4x4 ecodiesel crew cab and the nameplate says 1400 lbs payload, 8900 lbs max towing which is higher on both counts than the F150 Lariat 4x4 I traded. Also, the engine upcharge was $4002 over the V6. Just wanted to make sure the facts were clear as there appear to be a lot of confusion.

Things people don't know about the highway traffic act
G.mech replied to fishing n autograph's topic in General Discussion
It's funny you mention that one because I was taught that 'left was last' when I took drivers ed many moons ago. My teenage kids recently corrected me as they have been taught that the first one there has the right of way (which I argued but lost when we looked it up)...and here I thought I knew everything -
Not to mention, the taxes....another huge factor in the price at the pumps and most are on a fixed cost per litre basis and not a percentage. If the cost of the gas was zero we'd still be paying almost $0.30/litre at the pumps.....
