  1. FishLogic: I think you're going to enjoy it very much! Bob and Sondra are great hosts, the fishing opportunities are endless, and the 'sunset tv' can't be beat! (and very important: the chippie's name with the mangey tail is Chip-Chip... but, don't leave your Frutopia outside in a glass... apparently it's his drink of choice!)

Ryan: you can get cabin 3 and the kids can stay with us any time!! We'd have a blast!

Rick: I'm considering a portable drive for gigs of pics as we speak!!

Great feedback, guys! Thanks!!! I can't wait for be more run at Happy Day in August!!!

  2. I have a T3 and I love it- it takes great 1080 HD video, and I am very happy with my pics. Look for a lens bundle if you can- different vendors will sometimes offer a couple of lenses to sweeten the deal. My old T1 fell in a live well, and while I hated to replace it, the quality of this camera impresses me much more than the old one. I have no complaints!

  3. MrSimon- definitely, we have always enjoyed Dylan's company ... in fact, on our first visit two years ago, he had the boys packed up in a golf cart and touring the property before we had our stuff unpacked!

We found a couple bruiser pike in Windermere (in some rocky back bays if I recall correctly) and enough little guys near the beaver dams anywhere we went!

See you with Frankie65 in July!

    :-)

  4. I would like to catch:

Gar (never tried... Would be fun!!)

Whitefish (they elude me so far... And I have tried!)

Of course something exotic - Arctic Char, tuna, peacock bass... Would be a hoot, too!!

We caught Burbot last year ice fishing on Nipissing (fun to catch!)... They ARE delish boiled (like lobster) with butter and garlic, but thank heavens Frankie65 knew how to clean and filet it or I would have been out of luck!

  5. Everyone should watch that video to put our aches and pains in to perspective (me included!!). In fact, everyone should watch it to 1) see just what your daughter can accomplish every single day, and the inspiring levels of her challenge and 2) to appreciate how these folks make the best of their handicaps. The human spirit is a stubborn beast... proven there!! This girl has some spunk... wow! Keep it up!!!!

  6. Nice work, Rick!! G-man just gets bigger and better, huh?! I still think that we need to get you ice fishing... Your winters will pass quicker, and you won't cringe when someone says the word 'winterized'. Great video- we can revisit those warm days and big beauties when the snow flies!

  7. I won an IPad3, and have used my Playbook longer than that...

Pros of Playbook: smaller, more portable, waaay cheaper, crisp pics, my preference for reading since it's smaller, great battery life, awesome to make hd video and play on HDTV, some fun apps but I don't have a ton or use a ton on it. I like this because I can launch and keep my programs open. Nice cuz it easily opens my Microsoft programs. Good browsing. For the price, it can't be beat in my mind. Great sound. We hook up the hdmi cable and watch shows we missed on tv with ease. Great to sync my bb to.

The iPad pros: some really cool apps (most) you need to buy, good camera shots, crisp images, different app styles from the bb but equally functional, equally useful at browsing, great battery, but I don't like how you can only open one program at a time. It's heavier, but great display being slightly larger. Good video. Good browsing. Great sound.

I can use some work programs easier with one tablet, and others with the other but there is no favourite.

    Good luck choosing!!

  8. Your daughter is a fighter, and I think it goes without saying how admirable her strength to fight and persevere is... It saddens me to see people that truly deserve a different path to get the potholed and bumpy road, but at the same time it makes me proud to see how strong and determined my fellow human beings can be. I wish your family all the best of positive outcomes.

  9. That was a fabulous report to read- and a superb mix of National Geographic, Virgin radio, and fish tv to make me awe-inspired! I am sure that the people, the wildlife and the terrain were rewarding in ways we would have to experience ourselves, and can only dream of. You're two very lucky guys- tho I am waffling on whether that includes the fish allergy and polar bears!!!

  10. That's neat, Simon! I lived there 13+ yrs ago, so I have no connections (sorry) but have a few tips: gotta have a block heater, gonna love the northern lights, gotta get some good snow tires (roads become tracks rather than plowed roads!), gonna love the endless sunset in the summer! If people talk to him in the grocery store, no... They won't mug him... They're just really friendly! What a super adventure- wish him best of luck for us! Oh, and if he sees a coyote in the city, don't bother with the SPCA.. They'll just laugh!!!
