  1. Congrats on those big pike. Later in June when we went we did not get into some that had the girth of the big girls you caught. Lumberjack
  2. More Pics of the pike we caught- Thanks again TNGuy We found fish, but at least 3 of the days were almost unfishable due to high winds. All of the fish you see were caught in a 3 and a half day span. I saw some giants that I did not catch.
  3. Following in Connie and Clive's footsteps, my dad and I fished Little V June 16-23. The wind and cold front that came through really made for a tough bite for us, but we managed 5 Pike over 40 inches for the week, the largest at just over 43". All of our fish came on large spinnerbaits fished on deep reed edges with emerging cabbage on the outside edge. We had some really tough days, managing only a handful of pike. It seems that the extremely inconsistent weather the area has had has created for some tougher fishing and a lack of good weedbeds, resulting in scattered fish as they move toward summer haunts. Pike also seemed thin compared to pictures of other fish I have seen from this lake, probably also a result of the rain and inconsistent weather. I think earlier in the year may have provided us with some more consistent fishing with the way the fish were in transition during this week. We saw the best action of 40" inchers out of all the guests in camp this week, and the largest for the week for the entire camp was around 44". I have fished better numbers lakes in Ontario for sure, with a higher number of 30"-35" fish, but the obvious trophy potential is a reality. Pictures and more details will follow, but it was a fun trip and I would like to thank all of those, especially Connie, for your advice and help with planning the trip and fishing. I will be back to this lake at some point. Lumberjack Pics: Awaiting the trip Tell the pilot to watch where is going! My Dad and I have arrived A couple decent fish More to follow
  4. 195$ Million Buys a lot of Shad Raps I can't even imagine the fishing I could do with that.
  5. I never really put my boat away. Around me there is always a river below a dam or great lake oriented fishing spot to go to. I just wait for winter warm ups. I haven't been out in a month with the cold, but Great Lakes Brown and Rainbow Trout are on my mind with the coming warmer temps. It is time. Lumberjack
  6. Then they should call it Global More Extreme Weather, not Global Warming
  7. Yeah, the warranty does not apply for the rod guides "normal wear and tear". Also, the St. Croix website claims that warranties cannot be handled at dealers. They say you can only send the rods back to the company with $20 for shipping charges. Then they choose to fix or send you new. Anyway, thank you for the info. I found a local shop that said he would do it for free. I cannot believe how willing to help the people on this website are. Unbelievable. Thanks again for the responses Lumberjack
  8. Last I saw the new flyer was up on the Chicago Store listings. Just put the Chicago Store as your home store and you should be able to get to the link to download the flyer on the basspro.com website. It may have slightly different content, but also many similarities. If not, it will come to the other areas very soon. Lumberjack
  9. Went tot the SFC in my neck of the woods Yesterday. Got enough deals to spend 150$. I'll tell ya, some of the deals they have are hard to beat. Got a 75$ reel for 45$, with the discounts they were offering. Kevin, for a copy of the flyer go to basspro.com and look for the area where you select your "home" Bass Pro Shop. If you select that, there are links to all of there sales brochures, including the classic, online. Lumberjack
  10. I have a St. Croix Avid that has a tip that has become worn and frays my line. I want to replace this tip. With a rod like the St. Croix, can I just heat the tip and pull it off, or is there anything else I need to know? I have ordered a new tip, I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the schematics of a St. Croix Avid. Getting the new rod tip back on will not be a problem. I know there is a lifetime warranty on the avid, but it requires almost $40 shipping and handling. I can do it on my own much cheaper if I can figure it out. Thanks in advance Lumberjack
  11. I hope this is a sign of things to come for me this June, but the fishing may be tougher by then for those big girls. If those are skinnier fish than you usually see I want to see the fat ones. And thank you agian TG for the information you gave me on LV before. Those pictures are really getting me fired up. Lumberjack
  12. Caught several nice fish this year. These are on another great lake (not Quinte). They were caught within 10 minutes of each other in 5 feet of water casting cranks. The big fish is over 12 pounds, the other one isn't far behind.
  13. Going to the Red Lake area for a week, Rainy Lake for a week, and two weeks worth touring the great lakes state side (Erie, Sturgeon bay, bay de nocs). It is going to be a good summer! \ Lumberjack
  14. I would also stay clear of the rod line counters. I have found them to be fairly inconvenient, although better than nothing. You can get a pretty decent line counter rod and reel combo for an affordable price. Check out Cabelas right now, they just had a combo on sale for $49.95. It was a Daiwa reel, I have used the model before, and they work well. Lumberjack
  15. That collection includes two of my go-to baits (shad rap and pointer). Some good colors too. I bet that ran you about $70, though. It sure adds up fast (much to my wife's dismay) Lumberjack
