  1. I use improved clinch knot for EVERYTHING. It never breaks at the knot on me. Ever. Even attaching braid to mono/fluoro, back to back IC knots. Works fine. S.
  2. This would be my best guess.
  3. Lets go! I"ve been absolutely slaying them!!
  4. 77 yesterday on rice and the fish were CHOMPIN! S.
  5. Nice fish Mike. Take me next time. I haven't fished pike for years. Many years! S.
  6. Post a pic of the set up. Your not going to get a lot of improvement with a prop if the engine isn't on the boat right. How does it sit on the transom? Is it too high, too low, we need a pic. I have a 16ft starcraft with a 40, and im on plane in 3 seconds, doing 30mph in about 6 seconds. Its all how the engine is set up to the boat/hull. 3 people (big ones) and gear takes maybe 10 seconds, and i run about 26-27mph. 2 guys, a dog, and 8 doz decoys and i'm on plane, and running 25mph no problem. I have no power trim either. S.
  7. I have a 15 johnson with electric start if that would be better for you. Its an older model, short shaft, tiller, 2 stroke. It would be lighter than that 4 stroke, and easy to start. Just had it tuned up and serviced too. S.
  8. Buckeye is your best bet in bobcaygeon. There is also DT powersports, and Tucker marine in Apsley. I'm not sure if Hastings marine is doing any service work any more but they were always good to me. S.
  9. Propane water on demand is how I would go. You use less propane, and they work great. S.
  10. 35-50cm i think
  11. Really? When was the last time you caught one in there? I have heard lots of rumours, but never ever seen one, or know of anyone who actually caught one. I fish it for walleye, great spot, get the odd pike and some smallies too, but never musky. Maybe I should try targeting them in there.....lots of fallfish for bait for them. You would think there would be a few real big ones in there. My friends family has a place on the east end, been there over 30yrs, never seen or heard of anyone catching a musky. S.
  12. Try shallower. Inside weed edges. Warmest water. Most guys struggled with them this weekend, but I found them right where I always do on opener. No boats in sight. Think outside the box. Bait would be the last thing I look for on pigeon. S.
  13. Hit rice last night 6:30-830 and went 3 for 4. S.
  14. My 93 yammy built 40 mariner fired up on the 5th pull. I called 7th pull. The thing is bullet proof. Crazy the amount of hours I"ve put on it and it still purrs like a kitten like day one. Hard to justify a new one as bad as I want one lol. I didn't even disconnect the fuel line from the fall. Just had seafoam in the full tank of gas and away to go. S.
  15. I use these in #10.....depends on the size of your minnows though, sometimes I use #12. S.
  16. Most cops don't know squat about fishing. Or hunting, or even gun regs for that matter. There are a select few that do, but the majority don't have a clue. I had a pretty intense argument with one on the side of the highway about transporting firearms one time, he had NO CLUE what he was talking about. I would have taken their stringer and kindly released the fish for them. No speak english is a Bull excuse nowadays. Most of the no speak english crowd can understand just fine, its just PURE IGNORANCE. S.
  17. ^^ what he said.
  18. I dont know where you were, bit nobody has any right to send dogs after you, and i would lose my mind if dogs scratched my truck....she would be paying for that. Nobody owns a road. S
  19. I fish it a few times a year. Never seen or heard of musky being caught. Heard some old wives tales that there may have been the odd one back in the day, but im not so sure. Great walleye, a few pike, and probably lots of bass if you fished for them. S.
  20. I love the slot. I think its the best thing for the kawartha lakes, other than trent severn maintaining a stable water level for the spawn. We are getting all year classes in rice, sturgeon is missing a year maybe 2, but getting better, and tri lakes are fairly similar. No problem to catch a meal of keepers, and always a few overs for fun. Stocking is never the answer for self sustaining populations. They will do it on their own if water levels would stay consistent until the eggs hatch. Sooo many years the fish spawn, then TSW lets the water go and eggs are left high and dry. Its total crap they are allowed to do that every year. Even if you cant catch a fish in the kill slot, but getting overs and unders, its a good sign. Scugog still has eyes in it, big huge ones, and tiny ones, but the spawn gets messed up there all the time with water levels. There are other issues, but fish that cant spawn successfully is a big part of it. Thats my take anyways. No science to back it up, just 30 years fishing the lakes and watching it all happen. S.
  21. Id buy a GPS combo for your boat, and a ram mount to mount it to your bike. Works mint. A navionics chip for the boat, and a backroads map chip for the bike and you are good to go anywhere.
  22. Go to a small engines shop and get a replacement pull cord for a lawn mower. Para cord will only let you down in a short time. S.
  23. I drop my bowount in and run it backwards against my main engine if I have to, or just use the bowmount. S.
  24. That would totally be up to the individual CO. Answer your questions right and you'd most likely be fine. The individual receipts would help if you ever had to go to court, but the big question is who is in possession of all those minnows? I'd do it........ S.
