  1. Had a blast down in Florida last week where I know another one off my bucket list, a Butterfly Peacock! Ended up catching a bunch of them and a new personal best! Beautiful fish who fight harder than a Smallmouth Bass! The colours are breathtaking on them and they're really not a bass but a Cichlid! If you're ever around Miami, I would definitely go catch a bunch!
  2. Looking forward to seeing everyone there today! Doors open at 9 AM! Please stop by the HT Booth and say hi!
  3. Hey Mike, I do a lot of heavy cover fishing and have two rods for it. A Daiwa Tatula Elite Ish Monroe Signature 7'6" and a 8' models, they're' reasonable priced and if you want something less expensive then the new Daiwa Tatula line-up has 2 similar models, all these rods are heavy power and fast action models! The new Tatulas have cork handles and look real nice, I haven't had a chance to try one yet because they're new for this year but handling them down a i-Cast they felt real nice especially for the money!
  4. Using a Uni-Uni or a Crazy Alberto is how I join my fluorocarbon leaders to my braided line!
  5. No, bass fishing will always be #1 but I love all kinds of fishing!!!!
  6. Gotta protect those “spots”! LOL
  7. All the Cuda gear looks like pretty good quality! I have some some scissors from them and they work great! Gonna pick up their Jaw Spreaders for pike this spring!
  8. Got a chance yesterday to try some surf fishing down in Florida! Cold front had the fish a little tight lipped but I managed to catch my first Ladyfish! Also got to use a feature that I don't often on my Navionics app on my iPhone to check on the Tides, pretty cool!
  9. That’s the way to do it!
  10. That’s a beauty! Lots of giants on both Erie & Simcoe!
  11. Awesome report! Looks like you had an adventuresome season! Taro is always a blast on the water and that boy can fish! Great pics as well!
  12. Awesome! Gonna try & get a day in the Keys next week! Hope they we have your kind of success!
  13. For about 8 years at one point I made sure that I was out on Lake Simcoe for the last day of bass season which is Nov. 3oth needless to say I haven't been for a few years! LOL What happened to global warming? That being said I'm very excited to be heading to Florida for the B.A.S.S. Team Championships shortly! 25 degrees C down there today! (-:
  14. You won't be sorry! Love my Yamaha!
  15. There is nothing right about this! Hopefully, they are prosecuted to the full extent of the law!
  16. That would be so awesome!!!!
  17. When I asked about members' fishing bucket list, the number of times that a 15+ inch perch was mention reminded of this awesome fish that a friend told me about! Congrats Joseph Ryan Schaus! BTW the fish had a 13" girth!
  18. WOW, some very impressive goals! Trust me my is endless as well but we'll just keep knocking them off one at a time! Might try for a tarpon in a couple of weeks as well! Let's get those who want a Laker through the ice on Simcoe out, maybe we should have a OFC Meet & Greet out there!!! As for those who are looking for a 15" Perch, we have 2 bodies of water with Lake Simcoe & Lake Erie which can both kick out 15 inchers! I do believe that Lake Erie just produced an Ontario record perch this spring! Keep coming with these bucket list goals, some cool ones in there!
  19. Both sound like amazing trips!
  20. Well, that's a great lake to do that on! They're usually pretty big! Best of luck!
  21. I wear them on a pair of Baffins! Now I have noticed that there seems to have been different versions of these. Not sure if I just got the right pair or not!
  22. What's on your Fishing Bucket List? This year, I've been lucky enough to have represented Canada at the inaugural Pan American Bass Championship on Lake Okeechobee as well at the XIV Bass World Championship on lake El Cuchillo in Mexico. I was on the Team Canada with Bob Izumi and got to compete against one of my favourite professional anglers, Roland Martin whom I got to fish with a few years back. Traveling to the B.A.S.S. Team Championships the last few years I got to fish Kentucky Lake, Guntersville and this year the Harris Chain in Florida. My list is still long but I'm slowly working my way through it! Peacock Bass fishing is next up and hopefully next year Sturgeon fishing on the Fraser in BC! So what's on your Fishing Bucket List?
  23. Make sure you bring her by the booth, I'll have something for her!!!
