  2. You won't believe the places this thing will go..... we just picked them up on Saturday. Well you know the first thing we had to do was drive them down the road, through a ditch and into the river. Swamp grass, water, mud, beaver dams, you name it, we tried it and all they did was keep amazing us. We ended up hitting a little lake we knew for some pike, OMG amazing, we caught so many fish we lost count, ( you couldn't get there any other way) we went places you couldn't get with a boat or an ATV, we went places where you couldn't walk. We went places you couldn't get to even with a float plane, ( well you might make it in but getting out would have been a challange ๐Ÿ˜Š Now I will admit you can get them stuck. Yup I did LOL, I tried to cross a small creek just wider than my wheel base, it was deep with very steep sides, ya, my son did have to winch me out. Well if you don't get one stuck you don't know what it takes right ? ๐Ÿ˜Š IMG_1325.MOV

  3. You are right about how it can often be a cheap part that fails on a pcb, capacitors are often the most common failure. Most boards are sealed with conformal coating which can be removed with a strong solvent like acetone. For the most part manufacturers don't repair them, it's just a replacement. However, if you could do a visual inspection on the board and spot an obvious fault like a swollen capacitor can or a dark burnt looking component like a diode or even a burnt track then there would be a possibility of repair without even needing a circuit diagram. That being said I have no idea of the history on the failure of these boards, it could also be an IC in which case there'd be no chance of repair.

  4. Here's an old locally hand drawn map of the lake. It's quite accurate. That red stripe is the only main lake weed bed that drops quickly into deep water. Big Pike hang around that deep edge looking to intercept roaming schools of Cisco. If you zoom in you'll notice to named rocks in Big Water that will just break the surface in low water seasons. Babcock's and Englishman's rock. Great spots for Smallies but in reality they are everywhere along rocky shorelines. The second map is the depth map and I've marked a lot of the runs I like for Lakers, but again you'll see plenty of boats trolling so that will give you an idea as well. What I really like is that when the wind picks up there are lots of areas to get out of the wind for smaller boats like in between the islands and over in Western Water where I like to go. One thing about Lakers there is the bite is good in the morning and peters out around 10 so we always like to be launching by 7. Lot's of hazards in the lake too but for the most part they are all well marked. Lot's of good hiking trails too. It's a beautiful lake where a section of the shield juts down south close to the border.
